I've taken two Stainglass classes there and I highly recommend to anyone who is just slightly interested Maddy makes it easy for you to get into stain glass by pre-cutting the pieces for the classes and Brandon brings refreshing cocktails, tea, or coffee drinks. It's unique in the fact that you can buy stain glass, use studio time to make your own peace, or take a class that she will guide you through. They sometimes have events which I highly recommend checking out like a make and take market during December

Maddy is a WONDERFUL teacher who really teaches you how to create a stained glass work of art from start to finish. She will teach you how to cut, grind, foil, solder and in the end you will love your new original piece of art. After taking the beginner class earlier this year I immediately fell in love with the process and decided for my birthday I would have a crafternoon with the gals! Maddy allowed me to book a private session, she gave me input on design choices, offered snack and drink and even decorated! It was such an amazing day spent with great friends in a super cute place. The studio is just a vibe, I really love it. In every nook and cranny is an interesting or just beautiful decoration or work of art. I just want to hang out in there and read or play a game which I'm pretty sure is encouraged! Within the studio you can find East Coast Trading Co. that offers delicious tea and coffee which you can enjoy for free during your class! In addition to the traditional stained glass classes, Maddy also offers date night options where a bit of the work is already done for you so that you and a guest can get right down to business! I've also seen advertisements for classes with embroidery, candle making, jewelry making, flower arranging, wood burning and resin. I also recently saw a super cool holiday event/market I am planning to check out. Basically if you have any interest in get a little crafty you should really check out 'Akala Studios!

What a most delightful experience, taking a paint & sip class! For those who don't know what a…read morepaint and sip is (a lot don't)- basically a business, like Painting With A Twist, has paint classes everyday where you pay admission per person and each class you are taught step by step how to create a specific painting. If you are of age, you have the option of bringing alcohol to sip as you paint, but you totally don't have to. Some places provide the alcohol, but this specific location at least is byob (bring your own beer). Seriously, even if you aren't an artistically inclined or creative person taking a painting class can still be a ton of fun. My dad is not artistic at all, doesn't have an artistic bone in his body really and he knows it, and he still had a ton of fun in the class and learned a lot. Plus, you have an instructor who walks you through how to paint small step by small step, and if you have questions they walk around and will help you correct things as well, so you really have as much guidance as you want, or not. As our hilarious instructor Scott said, "This is FUN art, not FINE art." This really was a ton of fun and i'm for sure going to take more classes in the future, it was the best night and Scott our instructor really helped to make it all the more fun!
