This was a disappointing experience. Not sure if Capt Kevin was having a bad day, but he was not at all into this trip. It was a surprise after reading these reviews, because our experience was completely different. Kevin was not interested in explaining anything unless we asked. And even then, it was like pulling teeth to get any information out of him. Asking about the local area, types of fish, anything--very cursory, uninformative answers. We chose him because we liked what his website had to say about making the trip fun for kids. The kids had fun, but it wasn't because of anything he did. The adults were surprised at how unfriendly and stand-offish he was. He basically operated the boat and baited the hooks. Nothing more, nothing less. While boating through minimum wake areas, he was looking down, texting on his phone for extended periods of time. At some points, it was more of a sight-seeing trip than a fishing trip; instead of taking a straight line directly to the next fishing spot, he would take a circuitous route that took three times as long. The boat itself was safe. It wasn't very clean. It would have been helpful if the website explained that there was no head (bathroom), and that we needed to bring our own trash bag. The fishing wasn't very good while we were out. It's hard to blame the guide for that, but given his complete lack of interest in this trip, I have to wonder if he was even trying to find where the fish were that day. For the cost--which seemed to be the going rate for a 4 hour charter--based on our experience, I cannot recommend this operator, and will not book with him again. read more

As often as I fish back home, it was hard to fathom paying someone to take me fishing. I also realized I was out of my element in the gulf, so I bit the bullet. Capt. Kevin was very knowledgeable and personable throughout the trip. I had another fishing trip planned in a few months where I would be targeting Red Drum and Speckled Trout, so I told him I'd love to catch something besides those. At our first stop, the activity was great. The Jacks were practically jumping in the boat! Once the bite slowed there, Kevin knew exactly where to go. He put me right in the middle of a feeding frenzy, complete with diving birds, dolphins, rolling tarpon, Jack Crevalle, Spanish Mackerel, and not to mention my first sharks. I would recommend Capt Kevin to ANYONE travelling to the Tampa St Pete area, but especially those who want to wet a line. Can't wait for my next trip down there this summer. read more

I have used Kevin's services 4 times over the last 5 years. Every trip has been outstanding. I've gone with just my wife, I've gone with my father-in-law, and I've gone with kids. So we've had a wide range of experience, from rookies to highly experienced. Captain Kevin is a master of working with different kinds of situations, and ensuring that everyone has a great time. Oh, and did I mention that we've caught a lot of fish?! We've had great success as well as a great time with Kevin. We've caught huge tarpon and lured redfish out of hiding. We've stalked sea trout, and fought some Spanish mackerel. And Kevin is always working hard to make the trip even more fun and interesting, and he is incredibly nice guy as well. I look forward to using him again in the future, and would highly recommend him to anyone without any reservations. read more

I booked a half day charter for my boyfriend who always goes fishing when we visit. First off, I fell getting into the boat and I broke a toe. We went to several spots. The most productive sight had us catching catfish, and I caught a baby shark. But since we weren't catching anything of use, we moved, and moved again. Nothing. I'd rather catch fish and throw them back than to leave a spot where fish were actually biting. I was disappointed and so was my boyfriend. That was $500 down the drain. read more

I went out with Captain Kevin on 10-8-2014. I was looking for a half day charter that I could afford and still be able to catch some fish. I took along a friend of my S.O. that had never been fishing. Kevin did a great job, explaning to a "newbee" finding up good bait, and putting us on some nice fish! We went out of Blind Pass, caught bait in the entry of the pass, went out on the gulf and he put us on some spots he had in his GPS, my god, we caught fish! We got Spanish mackerel, jacks, and lost a couple of fish to sharks, what a fun time, all in sight of the hotel we were staying at on the beach. Then when the action slowed down, he didn't give up, he took us to the intercostal and put us on some sea trout and redfish. He did a great job, was nice to be with, very personable guy. I would highly recommend him, as a matter of fact, the next day when I was surf casting on the beach a couple from the UK asked me about fishing there, and I did recommend him, they seemed fired up about calling him, I hope they did. I have been out of Venice La, Glouster Ma, and Charlston Sc fishing. This was just about as good as any of them, but.......its hard to beat Venice! I will go out again next time I am on the beach. read more

Booked a fishing weekend for the hubby and his friend (from out of state. So, involved flights, hotel stay & vacation time taken off). Spoke personally with owner/captain Kevin Walton 3 months prior, booked & confirmed. Hubby gets to St. Pete's & is told the day before that he's "not in the books" & there's no reservation for him, and basically there's nothing he could do for him. I called him, since I was the one who made the reservation (thinking maybe it's just a name mix up or something). Says he has one of his "regulars" going out & since it's not in his phone (apparently, his "trusty reservation book") it never happened. We specifically booked w/him because we had been out w/him once in the past (he wasn't "the greatest" the first time. But, figured since I booked a couple of new charters, maybe go with a "known," just in case.) Poor, dismissive attitude. Did not seem apologetic at all. Said he could "probably" get us on someone else's boat, but not guaranteed (I did research before planning hubby's trip & didn't just book anyone. Tried to make sure he was w/reputable charters. So, just going on "someone else's boat" gave us no information as to whether or not they were reputable, had history of customer satisfaction, or the other things you look for in a charter- especially when flying down specifically for a fishing trip). Offered no compensation or accommodation for the inconvenience, headaches, and ruining his day. Hung up on me when I suggested some type of accommodation should be made in good faith and to try and fix this horrible experience & horrible customer service. All i can say is, thank god i didn't book the hubby's entire trip with this terribly unprofessional and rude Captain Kevin from Nonstop fishing charters, who has no integrity, reliability or respect for HONEST, PAYING customers, or my husband's ENTIRE trip would have been ruined (and would have wasted ALL of our $$$ spent on this trip). Thankfully, there are other Reputable, Honest, and RELIABLE charters in the area that deserve your hard-earned $$$$ more than this guy. Buyer Beware!! read more
