I went in for my scheduled appointment (routine exam and cleaning), got my cleaning, then learned the dentist was simply... not there?!? The receptionist told me I needed to come back again in 2 weeks for my exam. They did NOT make me aware of this in advance, or I would have happily rescheduled. Every other time in my life, this has all been handled in one appointment. No excuse was provided for the dentists' absence, or the lack of courtesy. Even in an emergency, a simple text beforehand could have prevented this negative review. Or ANY explanation for my dentist's failure to show up at my dentist appointment. After 10 years of visiting this location, I can honestly say I would drive hours to get here. Only dentist who doesn't lie and tries everything to save your teeth. Great advice given too. I have anxiety with doctors and he makes me as comfortable as possible. Was in a horrible accident and had jaw surgery, nerves were damaged and extremely difficult to numb me. Have been a patient here for the past 3.5 years and will not be returning. I had a cavity filled that wasn't properly cleaned and now less than 2 yrs old needs a crown. I received a different crown 3 yrs ago and this weekend it chipped. Constant rotating door of dentists and overall deep concerns for their quality of care/work. The staff could care less about getting paperwork corrected or sent off to other dentists with a very dismissive attitude. They should really go into veterinary care. My procedure was handled wrong on every level and even trying to explain what happened wouldn't matter because everyone reading this would be so quick to judge without being in the same situation and not realizing how painful some dental procedures could be and how some fairly standard ones should be completely pain free when done correctly, and my pain thresh-hold is pretty high. Rabizadeh, the dentist that worked on my teeth was acting like everything was no big deal and would dismiss or ignore basic care after the procedure. Stay away from this place, the left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing and if you value your health and well-being you shouldn't go. He was gruff and had absolutely no bedside manner. I'm short, he was a jerk. I felt like if I stayed for the whole appointment that I would regret it so I got up and left. I went by Noho dental group and found their prices significantly higher than other dental offices. Like a lot. I was specifically shopping for Invisalign and their are Groupon offerings for literally thousands less. The place seemed nice and everyone was pleasant but when I asked them several times for an itemized quote to understand why their prices were so high they never responded. Dental services are kind of a commodity item and I want the best price or at lease to understand what the best price is. From there I can decide if other factors like location or service make it worth paying more or not. If you're reading this, I hope you have better luck getting their actual prices than I did. Their front desk representative is unprofessional and would cancel the appointment at the very last minute without advance notice. I was originally seeing Dr. Alina Tiraspolskaya, she was amazing! I had some dental issues and had to go in several times and every time she made me feel comfortable and at ease. After a few months of being seen by Dr. Alina I needed to have my wisdom tooth removed and the performing provider would be Dr. Bigan Afar. I had a consult with him before my wisdom tooth extraction and he wasn't paying attention to me at all during the visit. He was either making me wait because he had to respond back to an email during our consult, or he was just giving off the vibe that he had other things to do. The day of the extraction I was told to take a muscle relaxer an hour before my appointment, by the time I got there the medication had worn off. When I was in the room waiting for Dr. Afar one of the dental assistance gave me another pill to take. Dr. Afar then came in and made a really bad attempt at a joke by accusing me of doing meth. His reasoning for it was because meth addicts go through medication really quickly (is that even a thing?). I told a staff member that I didn't like his comment and she immediately went to him and told him, he then came into the room to confront me about it. He claimed it was just a joke because since I'm so thin, meth comes to mind and I shouldn't take it as an insult. The procedure to remove my wisdom tooth was awkward to say the least. It is never funny or a good idea to "jokingly" accuse your patient of being a meth addict, you're a freakin professional, you should know better. Never went back after this. read more

I felt so disappointed. I have never had so much doubt in the medical/dental insurance system in the US in my life and it was utterly disgusting going through what I just went through. After reviewing others reviews I decided to write this review because I noticed it's a recurring complaint and it seems so unethical. I just recently received insurance and I was so excited to go get my teeth cleaned so I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Saghian. I get there on time, fill out my paperwork and ask about my fees, they said I needed x-rays and inspection then they will clean my teeth, they said it should only cost $25. So I get to my dental chair and I hear the Doctor talking to a patient in detail (total hipaa violation, speaking of hipaa). They take like 20 x rays (probably up charging my insurance for each one) then after inspection by the Dr. She tells me I need a deep cleaning ($250 out of pocket) a $1500 crown and like 5 cavities filled, didn't give me an option of a basic cleaning. The secretary came in after the Doctor left and gave me a break down of the fees and it was way out of my budget so I left. They did mention I could ask for basic cleaning but why should I have to ask for something that I scheduled to begin with, like I have to beg the Doctor or something. I know my teeth aren't the greatest but I don't think I should be denied or feel denied of basic health care needs just because I can't pay premium prices. People shouldn't get into health/dental if they can't have basic compassion for people who are less fortunate. After them mentioning my insurance allowance im worried that they just used up a bunch for something I never even wanted to begin with. This is a racket, I'm writing our state representatives. I went in a few months ago to get my teeth cleaned before a long trip I was taking. I usually go to a dentist in another state that I've been going to for years but didn't have the time. The dentist cleaning my teeth told me I had 5 cavities and 3 teeth with bad decay on them (not her exact words but thats the quick side of it). This was almost impossible unless I had spent the last 6 months between my last dentist appointment at my regular dentist eating just pure sugar. she also tried scare tactics to try and get me to pay for over priced fillings. I went back to my regular dentist to get a second opinion and they told me my teeth were fine and were proven so after X-rays and a deep clean and inspection. I highly recommend not going to see anyone at this group unless you want to be gouged for money. read more

Cons: 1. I had to wait in the dental chair for a long time before the dental hygienist was able to attend to me. 2. The hygienist told the dental assistant to start my teeth cleaning knowing the suction tube (saliva ejector) was not working. The assistant then asked if she could start the cleaning without the saliva ejector, to which I replied I could wait for it to work. 3. I had several resin composite fillings which amounted to nearly $2,000. You would think with a procedure amounting to nearly $2,000, the resin applications would be even⁠--they were not. I had asked the dental hygienist to even out my lower teeth by reducing the jagged marks where the resin ends and my tooth begins. What was supposed to be a correction on one of my lower teeth caused my tooth to be noticeably thinner than normal. The resin applications on my upper teeth are uneven as well. Earlier this week I thought I had food stuck in my left upper canine tooth but it was the resin composite filling. 4. I had to take out the teeth whitening mouth guard because it was taking the dental assistant a while to assist me and the whitening agent was creating a mess. Pro: 1. I received a free teeth whitening treatment because of their disorganization. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

I called them first to ask if they would take my insurance. They said yes, if I had the doctor switched first. So of course when I first came I was hesitant and scared that I may be judged and shamed but instead I was welcomed warmly and I did get some great advice and feedback as to what work needs to be done. But after two long years all the dental work needed has been completed and I could not have been taken care of my a better dental office!!!!! I have had my fair share of dentist, and this place has what I like to call a good choice. I live in the north part of the OC, I have a dentist which I have seen for over 7 years, so I am very picky on those I let touch my mouth. I had planned on coming over for a deep cleaning, since I was attending an special event here in LA. When I arrived I was impressed by how clean and spacious the lobby was, the front desk gals were so nice and welcoming, I had no worries or fears about even being new to their office, I felt like back at my dentist office back in the OC. When I was called to be placed in one of the rooms, the hygienist was nice to actually listen to some of my request. She was kind and never did she tried to change my mind about how far to clean my teeth. She talked to me the remainder of my sitting. As I was sitting in the chair, I could see how clean and uncluttered the room was, there was this calmness to my cleaning that time seemed to passed by really fast. When my procedure was done, I was given a goodie bag, which included a brush, floss, a travel size tooth paste, tooth picks, and a "next appointment" card. I thought that was nice of them. I had read their reviews, and I had mixed feelings about coming here, but is like every other place, it all depends on the procedure. Sure they can be quite expensive, but lets be honest, beauty can be painful and expensive. Im giving them a 4/5 only because my wait was a little excessive and sure they were pricy-er than I was expecting (quoted). So to be honest, I've never really had an ideal experience at any dentist before. However, I now have a completely different outlook on dental offices. First off, the ambiance of the place is very spacious, warm, and welcoming. Across from the door, they have a little refreshment counter for visitors. I thought that was quite a thoughtful touch. Anyways, from the moment I stepped in, I received a warm welcome from one of the receptionists that proceeded to kindly assist me in signing in and filling out my paperwork. Once I turned it in, I waited only about 5 minutes to get called in! Keep in mind, I'm accustomed to waiting a minimum of 30 minutes at dental offices so that was already a very pleasant surprise. On to my actual experience inside. I was there to get a teeth whitening and when I was seated, the assistant explained exactly how its going to go before doing anything which I really appreciated. I had to sit under a light thing for about 15 minutes and they kept checking in and making sure I'm okay every minute or so. Dr. Afar came in as well to make sure everything is good. At the end, I had a lot of questions and consultations and he sat with me and answered and explained everything very patiently. He's very nice and extremely educated in his field. Before ever stepping foot inside their place she had referred a panoramic x-ray to waste no time helping me get to the root of my mouth pain. So this place is really nice and clean. They had a 49$ special that i heard of and called to verify what it included. I asked if it included a cleaning and they said yes. It really was just a polish. I understand that a polish is a type of cleaning but I know she just said yes so that I could go in. If she would of said no its a polish, I would of still went. Just Saying. I felt tricked. Then in person they were really nice and welcoming, Dr was great, I forgot her name sorry. I was told my teeth were OK but did need a deep cleaning done. I wasnt ready to go ahead and do that quite yet. My decision is final and thats it. I get really annoyed when after you tell them your decision, they try and convince to pay pay pay. I said no about 5 times. They even offered a program that i can pay monthly which is nice but i said NO. Anyways I just felt annoyed and scammed cause her way of convincing me was to say that my teeth were really really bad and were going to fall out lol when im no dentist or cocky but my teeth are pretty good and the dr just told me there good. That annoyed me. The other employers were really great. They called to remind me of an appt that i was forced to schedule, i said i have to cancel sorry, and she said like why? Hmm because i just do. DO NOT COME HERE. Something is funky with this place. Hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years or so, so it was sort of a slight emergency; I was really looking forward to it. I made an appointment around the 8th of Dec for the 18th. I was told I would get a confirmation call a few days before. I didn't, and I wasn't quite sure of the time, so I called them. To my surprise, they didn't have me on file and had apparently lost the appointment. So I made another one, for the 18th. I was pretty irritated, but no biggie, I was VERY thorough in making sure she had my correct name, phone number, and address because she wanted to send me a physical confirmation in the mail. Even having verified the date/time, I called today, the 5th, to confirm... and... they LOST THE APPOINTMENT. They have the nerve to act like it's my fault, asking (like they did before) if I "called the right dental office"... What do you do? How frustrating. "We just don't have it". Poof, gone in the wind. I have it, right here in my records, but they don't. I don't know if someone is messing with me, or the ladies at the desk are just dumb as rocks; both of which seem unlikely. It must be one, right? Don't know what is going on with this place but STAY AWAY. I'm leaning towards the latter option. Do not go here. The staff is rude and unprofessional. I went for a teeth whitening (which didn't even show results) and it was the most jarring and uncomfortable dental experience I've ever had. No one explained anything, they burnt my lips, they pinched me--terrible. When I asked for a copy of my x-rays, I was told that it would cost $150 to e-mail them. This place is a scam. Seriously, the Smile Center is a block over. Go there. Edit: Noho Dental contacted me to say that they only charge $25 to e-mail copies of records/x-rays, and that they are working on improving their customer service.
