It doesn't look like a particularly big area of a particularly big shop but nevertheless it's absolutely loaded with interesting stuff. There are local Cambridge ales (not that I'd rave about Cambridge's beer particularly but local beer is always good) and a great range of imported beers, especially Belgian. If you've got a sweet tooth then the lambics and other fruit beers are really very interesting. You could probably find some of it cheaper by the crate online but for individual bottles to taste it's decently priced. The staff are all very friendly- they clearly know a lot about wine and enough about beer and are happy to talk about it.

Owner was very helpful in suggesting local crafts based upon our preferences. Beers were reasonably priced, but I could definitely see myself spending way too much time and money at Bacchanalia. Each of them seem to have a handwritten note attached explaining about the wine. It's strangely beautiful in there... A bit like looking at an amazing range of books in a library. Just up the road from CWM's Mill Road branch, there is not a huge difference between these two places unless you are looking for beer. The Mill Road branch will do you a nice drop of cask-conditioned beer in quantities of anything from 2 pints to a 9-gallon firkin.
