I have been so happy with Nobis for my two boys ages 1 & 3. My 3 year old son is very shy and was nervous about starting school. His teacher and the director have gone above and beyond to make him feel comfortable and get him involved. He adjusted quickly to the new environment and is excited daily to tell me about the many experiences that he had. Some of the experiences include working in the garden, painting, vehicles, singing, dancing, and much more. The teachers are so kind and patient causing his anxiety about the transition to school to vanish. One of my favorite moments of the day is going to pick up my youngest son from the infant room. The babies are always so happy and engaged. The teachers in the infant room are always actively playing with the babies and keep a very clean environment. They joyfully receive the babies in the morning and have a wealth of information about how the day went. He has flourished in his language development and has started using sign language at home. I have a few issues with this school when I had enrolled my child. My first and biggest issue is that this school does not have enough if any resources for children with special needs. In a class of on average 10 children. At least 3 or 4 are either on the spectrum or have adhd or something like that. The teachers are expected the be able to handle both. Which, they do, rather excellently. However, it is difficult to give every child the specific care they need when some require different attention and discipline than others. Children with special needs should have some sort of aid to help them and the teacher while in the classroom. One, because children with special needs require and are entitled to care that will support and prepare them for the rest of their academic careers and two, children not on the spectrum deserve the same things. However these requirements for the two are different and simply cannot be done simultaneously. Nobis needs a special education classroom and or special education aids. Teachers cannot give neurotypical children care if they are dealing with an overstimulated autistic child to put it plainly. And vice versa. It's a win win for everyone. However, the directors tend to be careless. And if it's the money directors care about, having special education would benefit the school financially. My next point, Gayle. She needs to go. Incredibly rude to other teachers and the children. I pulled my kid from her class. Just plain awful. Thinks she's in charge when she is not (anymore) Talking down the teachers who are trying their best and doing an amazing job. Made my kid cry and dread going to class each day. Three, I believe it is unprofessional that the director and lead teachers leave or aren't there at the end of the day so the teachers that are there can't accurately answer questions or communicate or topics since they simply weren't there for the morning shift. Someone needs to stay. And the directors are that someone. Four, Gayle again. Five, the teachers, besides Gayle, are so incredible! They are amazing and clearly love what they do. They are so valued and our children love them! I seriously hope you guys read this review and take what I say into consideration. We were referred to Nobis from friends of ours and couldn't be happier with their infant program. Ms Mari is an absolute angel sent from heaven, in addition to Ms Alejandra and the other teachers who support them. They have created a loving, nurturing, and fun environment where we trust our baby to be safe while we work full time. They read books, dance, play outside, have circle time, and also provide all meals which is a game changer for busy parents. We had a bit of anxiety sending our baby as they had bad reflux, but the teachers helped relieve our anxiety. We couldn't be more pleased with Nobis and highly recommend their program. read more

We are beyond grateful to have found Nobis! Our boy started in the infant room at just 12 weeks old. As any parent can attest, it's a scary and emotional process to find the people who will be such a crucial part of your child's day-to-day care... Nobis has far surpassed our expectations and we feel so comfortable taking our son there each day. He is all smiles when we drop him off and pick him up... and he gets especially excited to spend time with Ms. Mari! He has been ahead of the curve hitting all of his milestones and we know this is in part due to the teachers at Nobis encouraging his independence and free play. The director and teachers are always a text away if you need them, or just for an update. School events are well organized and it's always fun to socialize with other families. Oh... and we get the cutest crafts each month!! I would happily recommend Nobis to any families in the area looking for infant care :) read more

I brought my first baby here at 3 months and he thrived. I brought his brother there and he is also thriving. They come home happy and I feel like it's part family. sure there has been a lack of consistent teachers. Young teachers coming and going but I can feel good about the care that my son(s) have gotten there. In October we will be putting our baby into his brothers school and Ms. Kristin will be missed dearly. Director Ashley has been amazing since day one with us. And the rest of the staff I will miss seeing. Ms. Maddys warm smile. Ms. Mary and her love for the babies. Ms. April is always welcoming. Honestly, the care and you show all the children, forever blessed to have had the opportunity to bring my boys here. I have recommended many moms to this school because I have trust in them. There is a reason most of the good reviews are from years ago...this school was a huge disappointment. Staff turnover is extremely high, contributing to a huge lack of consistency for the children. Teachers came and went, sometimes even after a few weeks. There was very poor communication around staffing changes, making me feel very uneasy. When we finally got a decent and experienced teacher, she was frequently pulled to other classrooms to assist, and we learned that she was one of the only licensed and credentialed teachers (which is why she was apparently pulled to cover)--so that was very concerning. During our time with Nobis, not only was there horrible turnover, but I also witnessed a very young child get left outdoors on his own. I called out to the teachers to try and get their attention but they did not notice and shut the door, leaving a toddler completely alone. The gate to their outdoor space was unlocked meaning the child could have wandered to the street or anyone could have walked in. I was able to bring him indoors and expressed this deep concern for what I witnessed to the director--truly not what you want to see when your little one is supposed to be kept safe there. My mother-in-law also sustained a horrible fall while helping with dropping off my daughter, because there is so much uneven ground and steps in the outdoor space by the classrooms in the back. This really is a hazard that needs to be addressed. During the periods of staff changes, we had weeks, and probably months, where there was no daily updates and no communication as to what was going on in the classroom. I also was devastated as a mom when I brought in birthday cupcakes for my girl to celebrate her special day, and when I came to pick her up, they were sitting there in the corner and she was apparently completely forgotten about. What kind of a preschool teacher forgets to celebrate birthdays--it was truly shocking. We are now at a new school for only a few weeks and the difference is huge! The new director is so loving and present, the teachers are consistent, and my daughter is shown love, and true caring. She seems way more comfortable there already and the communication there is wonderful. I really wanted to give Nobis a chance but our experience there was horrific. Do yourselves a favor and do not send your child here...they are apparently opening a third location and can barely keep this location together. A focus on staff retention, basic safety, and finding teachers who actually care and are committed is really necessary at this school. read more

If I could give a 10 star review, I so would. My daughter started here in September 2014. Shortly after she turned 2, we moved from Texas to Southern California. Going to from being home all day with mommy to a school setting was super stressful for my little girl, but the team at Nobis helped her transition like a breeze! She started out in the toddler room, and loved everyone there immediately. She still insists on stopping by to say goodbye to her Toddler teacher every night before leaving. Shauna (the director) really went above and beyond in helping us get coordinated, get our daughter comfortable, and went out of her way to make sure that we were all happy, and that most of all, my daughter feels the love, support and safety that she should feel every day. There were days when my fussy girl was having issues going potty, and I would get an email from Shauna, asking what they could do to help - what have we tried at home, what has her doctors said, and again... how could they help her be more comfortable? Most day care center's would write that down on the daily paper "cried and screamed while pooping" and been done with it. Shauna went the extra mile, and so did her teacher Ms. Karen. When we thought our daughter was ready for potty training, they said "OK, let's try it.", and 2 days later it was "I don't think she's ready yet." ... then when they thought she might be ready to try again, they let us know. Shauna even took time out of her day to sit down with me on a busy Friday afternoon to talk Potty Training with me, so we could make sure we are all doing the same things to keep her new routine consistent! She gave me tips, suggestions, articles to read, etc. They are all constantly telling my daughter how loved she is, what a smart girl she is, etc. and building up her self confidence. I know when she is going through a difficult phase, that I am more than welcome to ask her for some advice. Her speech has improved greatly while attending Nobis, and I know that it's because the team there does their best to talk to our kids in a way they understand. They do not "Baby talk",, or talk down to our children, and use the real words for things - which was something we did at home that we were so thrilled to see continue. Now in Ms. Anis' preschool class at 2-1/2, my little girl is thriving, and looks forward to going to "school" every morning! She talks about her friends on the weekend, and is so excited when she see's her teachers around town (We ran into Ms. Gayle at Yogurtland last week, and Luci was SO excited to see her!), and that right there says something. As a first time mom, I am so cautious with my daughter. About where she goes, who she plays with, what she touches (yes, I'm one of THOSE mom's), but at Nobis, I know she is in great hands. She came home with mud on her knees the other day and when I asked if she had fallen, told me she had been gardening. Gardening?! Shauna has a plant to plate program that ensures the kids at the school get the most healthy and the freshest food they can. From going to the farmers market as field trips down the street, to the garden in the back, she really cares what my kid is eating. Kids help in their garden, and that's such an amazing thing. She is in the kitchen cooking every meal for breakfast, lunch and then preparing snacks! The team at Nobis, honestly, is the best team I feel like I can trust my daughter with. Even my picky father in law loves the school, because he can see how much his only grand daughter is thriving because of the time spent there. We plan to keep our daughter at Nobis as long as we can, and I can't thank the team there enough for all that they have done to help shape our little girls mind and life! I put my 2 year old into this preschool because of the 5 star rating, Don't let that fool you like it did me! The first day I was told my son had a great day he is always a happy guy rarely ever fussy, loves people. I picked him up day 1 and his penis was hanging out of his diaper because the diaper was put on so loose. It was a concern that they don't know how to put a diaper on, but by 5 pm when I arrive the teacher is gone and so is the supervisor so no one to talk to. Everyday after that I'd call to check and they would tell me he was going in and out of crying (I just thought because it's a new routine) when I would pick my son up he would cry hysterically and continued to cry for 45-60 min after I picked him up, everyday (this is not my sons regular behavior). The director was only on site 2 times in the 5 days my son was enrolled once to admit us and the last day to get signed document from me. I never saw the supervisor any other time. Every day I picked him up his diaper was so loose if he pooped it was going everywhere, why don't you know how to fasten a toddlers diaper? The teacher seemed very quiet and shy (not your typical personality for working with babies) The 5th and last day she told me he had a blow out (not a surprise since you cannot fasten a diaper) they told me they changed his diaper 3 times that day his Blow out was at 3:10 yet at 5pm he still had a poopy diaper, he usually poops once a day, the poop looked dried up and rolling into little balls like it had been there awhile, it seemed to me that she changed his dirty pants but not his diaper. I dropped him off with no diaper rash when I picked him up 8 hours later he had a rash so bad he had blisters on his penis and his balls! His entire bottom and genitals were covered in a bright red rash! My poor baby was crying so bad we couldn't keep a diaper on him all night, he woke up in the middle of the night holding his genitals and crying. It took 3 days for the rash to subside. My son has never had a diaper rash in his 2 years of life and this was extreme, especially for developing it in a matter of hours. WHAT ARE THEY DOING OVER THERE?? I asked several people in this industry if this is normal they all told me to "get my son out of that place NOW!!" I went on the website and emailed the director Shauna that was listed I never received an email back. The next morning I emailed Ashley the regional director, I had met with to tour the place and terminated our enrollment. She apologized and said she'd meet with her team. After all of this they charged me for the 2nd half of the month my son was no longer enrolled for. They gave me paperwork in the beginning and I did not sign it because it said they gave me the rules and regulations- I did not see any clause for a parent wanting to remove their child. There was a termination clause if the center wanted to remove your child. The morning of the incident Ashley asked me to sign a document she said "it's in your packet," this is just saying you received it. So I signed- that was stupid now they are keeping my money they shouldn't have charged since THEIR SCHOOL CAUSED INJURY TO MY CHILD!!! The paperwork they sent my credit card company is not the same I read, it says they can terminate immediately but a parent has to give 2 weeks written notice- even if they harm our children! Which is basically so they can charge you again. PARENTS SHOULD BE GIVEN THE RIGHT TO IMMEDIATE TERMINATION IF THE "CAREGIVER" INJURS OUR CHILDREN! It is absurd that they can charge us again when they hurt my baby! So I paid them roughly $1100 to INJUR MY BABY!! Read your agreements carefully initial all paperwork even if it doesn't ask so they can't change it to fit their needs and greed! KEEP YOUR KIDS AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! read more

I've been meaning to write a review for a while... my girls have attended for nearly a year now. We saw a lot of change and turnover in the beginning, but they have finally settled into a great groove and I am happy to report that this is a little gem of a school in Capo Beach. I completely trust them with my 1 and 4 year old daughters. They go over and above - growing a garden, eating home cooked healthy foods, have great teachers, and an amazing director (Shauna, who used to work at the Ziggurat). We love all the teachers (Mari, Maria, Kris) but wanted to say that Ms. Anis truly made a difference in our then 3-year old daughter's life. She was able to see very quickly the best way to deal with her little tantrums (with the appropriate amount of love), and her behavior changed for the better almost immediately after Ms. Anis joined the school. I also appreciate the great lengths that Shauna and Pari (owner) go to in order to accommodate our sometimes changing needs. I would highly recommend this school. My son has attended Nobis since the 1st of the year, and my husband & I are so thankful to have found a loving, supportive, creative environment for our child. Ms. Shauna & the Nobis team are professional, communicative, skilled, and kind to me when I ask all my neurotic first-time-mom questions. While many things impressed us about Nobis when we first visited, the main thing that struck me was kids were all happy, calm, and playing. Many daycare centers have a handful of kids hollering, but every kid @ Nobis was happy & engaged. It can be a traumatic experience to search for child care, and daycare can be stressful for little ones, but Nobis has proven to be the exception. My son has been in Pre-K at Nobis since July last year and loves it! I feel very safe when dropping him off every morning, knowing that he will be in good hands. Nobis director Mrs Shauna always greets us with a smile and she knows her business. I always feel comfortable coming to her for advise when my son's been going through hard to handle phases. (And just a side note on the reviewer who gave Nobis the one star review. If you yourself don't have children attending this preschool and you are as you state "unclear" of why they'd let a 5 month old go, maybe it's not your place to write a review at all. We have trusted Nobis with our daughter since she was 4 months old. Five years later, as we get ready for the upcoming kindergarten year, it is bittersweet to say goodbye to all of the great staff members who have helped raise our little girl. We will miss the school and teachers who provided loving care and have prepared our daughter for the next phase. We have enjoyed the annual field trips to Tanaka Farms, the holiday productions where the kids perform the routines learned in their weekly dance classes, and the other special events throughout the year. I have been taking my 2 1/2 yr old daughter to this preschool since she was 8 weeks old and is still currently going to Nobis preschool she loves it. I am very selective on schools as well as who cares for my daughter, at this preschool you feel like family. There are daily reports given out to every parent on the curriculum and activities that are prepared each day which are fun and great for my daughters development. If in the Dana Point area and not sure what preschool to pick for your child I highly suggest Nobis Preschool I am so glad that I have them to teach and care for my daughter while I am at work. read more

This is the best preschool with infant program and toddler program! My oldest has been enrolled there since he was 10 mos and is now 4 and in their Pre-K. He has always loved this school!! The teachers are as loving, caring, and as attentive as it gets. With the help of the teachers and their director, Shauna, my two year old has been diagnosed with Autism and is getting tons of therapy. Without their experience and attention to my son, his diagnosis may have gone unnoticed and untreated. I cannot explain how grateful I am. I can honestly say that their teachers, especially Ms. Anis and Ms. Shirin love my boys and I always feel excited to take them to school. I wouldn't leave my kids with anyone else! My son has been attending Nobis for almost 6 months now. He's in the infant room and I definitely recommend it. He is so happy when I drop him off and that makes it just a little bit easier for me (a 1st time mom who misses her son like crazy when she is away from him) to leave him and go to work. The teachers in the infant room are so loving with him and I think that is why he likes it so much! Miss Mari is the absolute best - she takes awesome care of my son and she listens carefully to my instructions and always follows through with the things I tell her. In response to the review about the 5 month old being asked to leave, I think that this shows that Nobis is doing the very best for that baby and all the other babies in the infant room. Unfortunately, that baby needs one-on-one attention 24-7. It's not fair to the other babies in the room if one child is so high maintenance that they take up all the caregiver's time. Also, I think it's in the best interest of the high maintenance baby - she needs one-on-one attention from a nanny. Yes, I am sure it's hard when you need to find child care for a high maintenance baby, but one thing I have learned since having a baby is that it's HARD! Things don't always work out like you plan! My friend with a high maintenance baby opted for a nanny since she knew daycare wouldn't be the best option for her daughter, the caregivers, or the other children at the daycare! Bottom line - Nobis looks out for your children by doing what's best and by taking great care of your precious little ones. read more

Letting anybody look after a child that is not that child's family or parent is always a hard thing to do, but from the very first day we felt confident and assured that the the staff at nobis was more than capable of providing a safe, caring, fun, professional environment for the children. My daughter, now 4, has been attending this location since she was 7 months old. When I first found this preschool it was understand different management and ownership, but was a great fit for us as I was a single mom and this is around the corner from my work. Yes, there has been a fair amount of change and overturn but that was is needed in order to grow a business and make it successful. I am more than pleased to have stayed through the changes and watch my daughter grow and excel. We will both be sad when it is time for her to transition out to her next school adventure but I am quite confident that she has been prepared to keep learning and thrive. We have been at Nobis from the get-go. Recently, things have been looking up and the change in ownership is just now beginning to feel rooted and official. I would love for the school to have a few more kids in each classroom, but for now, we are enjoying the low teacher:child ratio (and a relatively illness-free winter season). I feel confident and safe in leaving my 3-y/o son at this daycare. There does not appear to be a specific "teaching method" assigned to this daycare, but from what I can see, I would call it a loose version of Montessori, play-based, exploratory learning. Most days, a very thorough child report is sent home along with arts & crafts. They offer a monthly menu for breakfast, lunch and snack; my son enjoys the food. The teachers are very welcoming and you can tell they actually adore the children like they were their own kids/grandkids. There are lots of hugs going on here! I can smell the light scent of the teachers' perfume on my child when he gets home and I take that as he gets plenty of hugs and snuggles throughout the day. Pari, the new owner, is trying very hard to make the changes needed to get Nobis to its highest potential--and is extremely open to and appreciative of suggestions for improvement. Nobis just hired a new director, Shauna, who is on the ball and always provides a warm welcome at the end of my long day. Shauna is very thorough and professional. Whenever I have a question or concern about my child or the program, the staff takes the time to address it. I like that there is diversity here (staff and children)--this is a nice change from the quite homogenous population in south OC. Overall: 5 stars for the teachers and directors. 4.5 stars for the convenient location and the shade outside. 4 stars for the playground. There are plenty of play structures, bikes and toys, but needs to be re-vamped in the near future, in my opinion. 3 stars for the facilities. The building is old. There are also some funky ramps, split-level rooms and steps/decks here and there. The owner is currently working on getting the facilities updated. 2 stars for teacher turnover (I expect this to improve over the next 6 months). read more

We started bringing our 2yr old son here in Sept 2014. As soon as walked through the door I knew this was where he was meant to come to school. It was clean, safe, bright and friendly. He started out in the toddler room and a few weeks in we had some concerns because of the consistency of the teachers. It was handled very well and our son adjusted quickly. He moved on to the preschool room where the teachers helped potty train within days. It was so awesome and a huge help for us so we weren't struggling at home to do it ourselves. Ms. Anis is awesome and our son loves how warm and caring she is. Ms. Shauna is very involved and my son loves her because she brings the food. I feel their pricing is fair and I love how convenient it is that they provide all meals. Saves me one less thing to do!
