If you are looking for antique jewelry this is the place. The pieces are high quality, unique, and fairly priced. A great testament to this is that they've been in business for over 30 years in Santa monica (a feat in itself). I can't say enough about how knowledgeable and kind the owners are. They are the true gems! They also do jewelry repair and good ol watch battery replacements too. Go local people and show your support! read more

I love this jewelry store so very much. I have been a fan and coming for almost 20 years! It is a small family run business and they are friendly and fun and knowledgeable and have the most amazing selection of antique and current jewelry and they make their own amazing pieces too. They are reasonably priced and wonderful. I love supporting small, locally owned shops and this one is a favorite! read more

I've visited Nobel a couple of times now. Every time I have paid far too much for what i get. These folks will rip you off. I do not recommend this store. There are a number of far better jewelers in the vicinity. read more

Nobel Gems - Worst jeweler in Santa Monica. - Jewelry Near Me - Santa Monica, California

Amazing and quick service. I needed to get my wedding ring and band resized and was looking for a quote. I walked in and received service right away. The owner Ken, quoted me a very affordable rate to resize my rings and had a super quick (just 3 hours) turn around. I returned to pick up my rings and was very impressed by how sparkly and clean they were. He also gave me a discount for being a Santa Monica resident. I will definitely be using his services in the future to care for all my jewelry and I will be recommending him to my coworkers. Also, his prices are better than most shops in the area. read more

Ken and his brother created a piece for me and many pieces of fine jewelry for my boss .

I love antique and vintage jewelry. I noticed this store a few times walking from the 4th street garage to the 3rd street promenade. They have a nice selection of antique and vintage jewelry. Rings, necklaces, earrings, etc.... I noticed that they have a good selection of engagement and wedding bands. We bought our wedding bands here on a whim. We needed to get them - so I dragged my husband in here. We really enjoyed trying on different rings and ended up selecting 2 antique gold bands (80-100 years old) for about $850. His band was a really beautiful wide thin ring - that isn't made anymore. I got a smaller worn white gold band. I would ask if they can do a better price - they knocked off $50 the initial offer. I think that we could have gotten a better deal, but we were able to check one thing off of our wedding list. After getting married, my husband was bothered by the fit of his band. So we went back into the shop and they resized the ring at no charge ( no extra material was needed and they did it on the spot!) read more

Don't go for an Appraisal. When I lived in L.A. I went to Nobel Gems often and Ken was friendly and pleasant. Recently I had to have a ring, he had appraised, reappraised for insurance purposes and discovered several mistakes. He said it was 14 K white gold when it is actually 18K - which makes it more valuable- but under weighed the size of the sapphire - which makes it less valuable. read more

I stumbled upon this jewelery store/repair shop as I was walking to another jewelery store. They did not come up in yelp when I did a previous search for jewelry repair places. I was looking for a place to have 4 watches serviced. I had a gut instinct (which, I believe we should listen to more often) to stop in and give them a shot. A gentlemen name Kia was very kind and efficient. He told me he would be done with re-sizing (taking 4 links out of a metal band) a watch, replacing the batteries in 2 others and attempting to find out why another had stopped working. Upon returning, he had taken out the links reassuring me that if I should need one added in the future (since I broke my arm and have lost mass in it), he would do it at no charge. The best part was that he only charged me $10 to re-size my watch!! He replaced the battery of another for $12. Kia was honest and told me not to waste $ with the other 2 since they are costume and not worth investing in. I appreciate his honesty and time efficiency. I would definitely recommend them to friends and family in need of repairs. Thanks Kia:) read more

They took some of my fiance's old family jewelry and my families jewelry melted it down and made our new wedding bands, and any excess gold was deducted from the final price! So we got some seriously gorgeous wedding bands for an excellent price, great way to start married life! read more

I absolutely love these guys! After my coworker recommended them, I walked in with my great-grandmother's engagement ring wanting a vintage setting. They had an amazing selection and did a great job setting the diamond into it. The turnaround time was incredible, and Ken was very pleasant to work with. He suggested a few options, but didn't put any pressure on me to buy any additional services. My new ring is a gorgeous combination of elegance and style, and is an updated version of a family heirloom. read more

This is a great place to shop for antique jewelry, or for jewelry repairs. Ken and his brother are a pleasure to do business with. Always friendly, kind, knowledgeable, patient, and honest. I wish I could give them more stars! read more

Had a small silver ring repaired. They did an excellent job and charged a reasonable price for it. They are friendly and courteous and fair. I would recommend this place for repairs without hesitation. They have a nice selection of gold and silver and antique jewelry. read more

The first time I walked in, it was for a simple battery replacement. I had my watch adjusted and functioning in no time. The second time was two days ago, when I brought in that same watch due to condensation buildup. I was told to come back today to pick it up, and it's fine now. The notable part is that I wasn't charged anything, though I was more than happy to pay. It may not seem like much to some, but I value this kind of small local business approach quite a bit, and thus the five stars. read more

I stopped in Nobel Gems one day as I was running errands in downtown Santa Monica, looking for a place where I could get a new watch battery. The owner, Ken, was incredibly kind and not only fixed my watch right up, but we had a wonderful chat as well. I vastly prefer supporting local businesses for precisely this reason - fair prices and excellent service. Thank you!! read more

I have had nothing but good experiences here. I have not bought jewelry, but get watch batteries replaced for several watches. Always honest and very nice people work here. read more

These guys blow, I have been in here many times, and they are over priced, somewhat condescending and I would not recommend spending your money with them. I went in to get a necklace for my wife repaired and he was awful, I go out of my way to use small business and I have no idea why small business owners are so moody, get a grip, or loose a grip. My wife and I will not be back. read more

Nobel custom made and fitted a diamond engagement ring for my fiance. Very happy to say she said yes, and even happier to report they were kind, communicable, and very upfront and honest. My fiance loves the ring and we're glad we chose local so we can stop by often to get the ring cleaned. Also, it's great if we have any questions around ring insurance and other needs - they confirmed a pair of earrings we bought in Croatia were 18kt gold. I'd highly recommend. read more

I had these guys swap a watch band and replace a battery for me today. It took 10 minutes and I paid $15. They were nice too. Highly recommended. read more

We have walked by Nobel many times and have window shopped. Based on a referral from a good friend, we took in some old family pieces for repair/re-sizing. Working with Ken was a pleasure! The prices for this work were reasonable and the turn-around time terrific. We also took some family heirloom jewelry in for evaluation and Ken spent considerable time meticulously reviewing each piece, explaining what he was looking for, estimating age and value and, in some cases, letting us know where the piece was manufactured. It was a fascinating and educational afternoon. Nobel has our business forever and we highly recommend them to anyone needing similar services (or to anyone who loves vintage jewelry and is looking to buy as the selection in the store is very nice!). read more

These guys are really great. I've bought several pieces of vintage/estate jewelry from them, and I've always felt like I've received a good deal from trustworthy people. They are second or third generation jewelers and. It really seems like they're more interested in a long term relationship with you rather than one sale. If you ask for what you want, they have other stuff hidden away that they'll show you. They've also repaired an old ring I broke. I trust this shop -- super nice people. read more

1 star is what you give to kids for being good or accomplishing a task They do not deserve it!!! 0 stars would be more appropriate I was just thrown out of this store while shopping for an engagement ring. Just awful I just drove 30 miles to an appointment here after I was told to come back when I had came there this morning as he was busy. After about 10 minutes of discussing options there were not many as he did not seem interested in what I was asking about. a sales person maybe the owner opens the curtain and says "o not you again." I thought he was joking.. Nope he promptly says "don't sell anything to this guy he's not going to buy get him out of my store!!! " "get out!" ???? What!!!.. How lame. I told him a few months back ill come back when I was ready.. So here I am like I said I would be, as I respect sales people and small business and the time that they invest. I am a very loyal person ready to buy as I'm going out of town with my girl this weekend. Now I need to find a new jeweler apparently. My first yelp review ever Treat your customers with respect I'm truly in shock that a grown adult can act this way. Really quite sad I wish I had read there reviews more carefully. As there seems to be a pattern here Dishonest and disrespectful read more

Stopped into this shop on a whim as I was walking by because they had some amazing filigree rings in the window. Looked at some of their selection and they have some lovely antique and vintage pieces at what seem to me to be pretty reasonable prices. Looking forward to going back for another look. read more

I have gone in here a few times for watch repair--battery change. They are very nice and helpful. And the jewelry that they have on display is lovely. read more

The guy who owns this place is awesome! He was extremely nice and explained everything before sizing my ring. Since it was vermeil, there could be some differences in my ring after getting it sized. I was nervous since it was an expensive ring, but I decided to take the chance on there being a little discoloration. He said it would take 30 minutes and he called in 15 and had it finished and polished. So happy with how it fits! On top of that, no discoloration. It was only $15 and I'll definitely be taking other jewelry repairs there. read more

My favorite neighborhood jeweler! They have the best repair shop and a unique selection of vintage jewelry and watches. Love coming here! Xx

i had a good experience with these guys to begin with. they re-did a ring for me and the results were good. i spotted a bracelet that i was interested in and decided to "sleep on it". upon returning in a few weeks to take a second look, they had raised the price from $800 to $1,200 and told me that i had mis-understood the first time. I obviously decided to pass since I saw no reason for a price increase. when i decided to pull the trigger, i went back and when i asked what the best price they could give me was, they said $1,400. i was outraged...when i reminded them of the price they quoted me during my last visit, he had the audacity to tell me "they gotta pay rent". so do i. worst part is that i work at a very high end boutique and would constantly refer my clients there. never again. read more

Some of the most beautiful vintage pieces I've seen in a long time! Ken was great and took his time with me and even gave me a few lessons about how to tell what is an original piece by it's filigree and what is a reproduction. Lovely man. Can't wait to come back and get a special piece from here! read more

I was there fix my watch battery they was very helpful and quick ( 5 minuets and it was great price ) . Thank you again :)

I brought in 2 necklaces for repair, one was a fabulous turquoise necklace that was my mothers, Kia repaired it and put in a back up support system so it won't break again. I highly recommend Nobel Gems to anyone looking to be treated kindly, fairly and most important- Honestly- when in need of Jewelry repair or finding beautiful rings... I found Nobel Gems here on yelp after taking my Antique Engagement ring to Readers Jewelers in Santa Monica to be re-sized (as it was too small) and Readers told me -after holding it for 2 days- that my ring could not be re-sized at all. Readers also quoted me DOUBLE what Nobel ended up charging me and were very apathetic and pretentious in their attitude towards me as I had not purchased the ring there but was an Antique.., When I went to pick up my ring at Readers, I explained that I was very disappointed that they could not help me as I had researched and knew that most rings- even antiques- can be re-sized and that it was my Engagement ring ... Obviously I needed to wear this ring specifically not purchase a new one ...My fiance gave it to me and it was a special family heirloom and very sentimental to them ... Plus -hello- its my Engagement ring! Not some random unimportant object...Anyhow...Readers then changed their tune and said that it could in fact be resized...but...it would be misshapen and I could leave it and have them try. I said "No thank You" and immediately went over to Nobel whom I had called after reading their review here on Yelp...I was immediately taken care of at Nobel and treated with complete respect and even excitement over the special occasion and meaning behind it. I was told of course it can be done and they would have it for me by tomorrow and it would only be about $75 as he had to add some gold to it. I was so happy and relieved to finally have someone help me and that I could finally actually wear my Engagement ring . I then received a phone call 2 hours later saying that it was almost done and to come and pick it up ! I They did an exquisite job and it is not Misshapen as I was told by Readers Jewelers that it would be...In fact its perfect and seamless. I am incredibly pleased and feel fortunate to have found them :) read more

I have never written a review on Yelp before but Nobel Gems is such a special place I signed up just to write this. I love vintage and antique jewelry, specifically Victorian, and the owners of Nobel love the pieces they sell. I was there last New Year's day and they spent a couple of hours with me, showing me things just out of interest even after I had made my selections. It's rare and refreshing to find people who love what they sell and the brothers who run Nobel Gems are those kind of people. If you love vintage and antique jewelry, you will not be disappointed. They have amazing taste and are honest... read more
