This past fall I went along with a third grade trip where we learned about the fur trade and French roots in Michigan. I grew in appreciation for the people that worked hard for little pay. The staff had example loads that they had the students carry to understand the weight and they showed examples of lifting belts from that time period. They got the kids involved by dressing up my son like a French fur trader. The kids also learned how to make fire by rubbing sticks and from flint rock, participated in axe throwing, and worked collaboratively to move a teepee. Very cool! My daughter's kindergarten trip focused on plants and animals. They have a huge playground with custom toys including a cave, a nest, and a fun looking zip line amongst other fun stuff. They have a neat indoors with a free area full of taxidermied local animals and birds. They have a free outdoor zoo where we were able to admire a great snowy owl, fox, opossum, porcupine, and skunk. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He knew how to keep this age group entertained and they were mostly transfixed about all the cool stuff he was showing them. Even though I came on field trips that we paid a fee for, many of the facilities are FREE for the public. The trails, playground, taxidermy and zoo are open without cost to the public. Donations are encouraged or you could spring for a modestly priced guided walk. Clearly the staff has higher degrees in outdoor and environmental education. I love that this place exists for the public to learn, enjoy, and appreciate all of the beauty Michigan has to offer. If we work together we can keep Michigan beautiful for many generations to come!

This is a nature lover's paradise for kids and counselors alike…read more This center is a big part of my family. My brother went since he was 8 years old until he was a teenager. He then was a counselor in his early to late 20s. My brother and my SIL are an integral part of this community. My niece and nephew have been and still go most summers for 1-2 week stays every year and many other events throughout the year too. The counselors here are amazing, friendly, such great support systems for the kids, emotionally, psychologically. They push the kids to participate in social activities as groups and be their own ambassador and fully partake among nature. The center fosters community, communication, openness, cooperative learning and lifelong experiences. It's a great platform and place for kids to become more independent and to help them build lasting relationships too. The counselors are there to help guide the kids and be there if needed.

I have to say, this recent experience was on a whole different level when it comes to customer service and attention to detail! The two staff members working that day were absolutely amazing--so kind, helpful, and attentive. Our kids felt comfortable and safe with them the entire time. They offered to help set up and clean up our party items, checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed, and made a point to acknowledge the birthday boy multiple times throughout our reservation. We truly felt taken care of, and the staff made the day even more special. As for the space itself- we loved it. You get 2 hours from start to finish (Activities are 1 hour 45 minutes, with the last 15 minutes of your party being used for packing up). You can have up to 12 kids any additional is just $5 per child. You're allowed to come in 15 minutes early to set up, and cleanup needs to be done right at the cutoff so staff can disinfect and prep for the next group, which is totally understandable. The facility is spacious, very clean, and perfect for kids to run around and play. The staff takes them into the gym to do activities and keep watch making it nice for parents too! They also put up a birthday sign and streamers with the colors you ask for! Our kids had a blast--ours even fell asleep on the way home! Pizza delivery is available (we chose Pizza Hut because it's close), and you're also welcome to bring your own food and treats, which makes planning easy and affordable. Overall, we absolutely loved it here and can't recommend Horizon Kids enough!

Open gym is a winter time saving grace. This is two hours of play time on huge trampolines, a foam pit, a huge floor, a bunch of traditional gymnastics equipment. Kids are safe to play under the careful watch of instructors. The instructors are keen on the rules and very attentive. I have also notice attendance is capped to prevent chaos. Going deeper, my crew checked out the classes. WOW. Here priceless confidence building, self esteem, and motorskill development are taught. Oh yes...and gymnastics too!! The classes are taught to constantly to take children to the next level, helping them reach their full potiential. My favorite thing about For the Kidz is that safety and the happiness/safety of the children is the absolute priority here. The kids also have a blast!!! Our guide told us about the history behind the field which was truly harrowing but showed the beauty of love and the cyclical nature of life. I was incredibly moved going here, it's somewhere that you can come and visit during any period of life but it's a good place to remember when things get tough. I'm sorry for the people who created this field but so beyond grateful for the ways in which they've turned grief into something so meaningful and moving. If you do come here, please respect what the space is for/about but I highly recommend you come here.

The staff are compassionate, trustworthy and enthusiastic about helping the children learn and grow. They are like family to us. There are a lot of activities to keep the children engaged. The facility is clean and the communication is prompt and consistent. Having our girls here takes a lot of burden off of us as parents trusting we have safe and reliable care. We are more than satisfied with our experience at this location and would absolutely recommend it to anyone needing exceptional childcare.
