This place was a literal hole in the wall and has not converted back from pandemic take out (complete with hanging shower curtains and stacked boxes) back to the dining area it clearly used to have. DH had Beef Chow Mein, that was tasty and full of crunchy fresh veggies. My Sesame Chicken was very different than I'm used to; neon orange and with a flavor I couldn't quite identify. In any case, they did a brisk business while we waited for our meals.

I didn't enjoy the general Tso's chicken much- I didn't mind the bright orange color but it was very heavy on the onion powder. I did LOVE their fried rice. I also enjoyed my pork and broccoli. The lady was very nice inside. I ordered some teriyaki wings but they were a tad too salty. As far as Chinese takeout in Marion goes- this is it. The restaurant is located on the end lot and shares ample parking with Food Lion- a liquor store and other businesses. I'll keep ordering until I find my fav menu item because they offer a lot!

The food just did not work for me. The chicken livers were burnt, and the Chinese Mainstays like General Tso's chicken was not on the buffet. The sugar rolls were hard as a rock, and it was dinner time so everything should have been fresh, but nothing was fresh. I was shocked when I went to check out and the meal was $18 and all I got was the buffet and a soda. I won't be going back. I think this might be the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever visited. Edit: I went again because my wife wanted to see this place for herself. General Tso's was out this time and not bad. Everything else was about the same. This was at dinner time, and 90% of the food was not fresh. We had a laugh about it.

The lunch specials are an excellent deal, and the combination plates are huge portions. Both my mom and I get two meals out of the combination plates. Everyone in Hemingway must know about and love this restaurant, because it's been packed each time I've been, and the phone rings steadily. Nevertheless, the service is quick and efficient. My husband and I visited recently when visiting my mom. We ordered hot and sour soup, general Tso's chicken, egg rolls, a shrimp roll, and hunan shrimp. The combinations come with pork fried rice, but I requested vegetable fried rice, and it was correct. My mom frequently orders food here and asks for no mushrooms, and her orders are always right as well. She enjoys the pepper steak, and I like any shrimp dish. The shrimp are HUGE. New Dragon was some of the best takeout Chinese we've had, even compared to the options in Charleston. They don't have a website or online ordering, so I recommend grabbing a menu inside when you go and calling future orders. Also, remember to grab plastic spoons and forks if you need them.

My husband ordered Hunan beef with pork fried rice, and that looked alright. Needless to say, I was disappointed with my order. I also don't eat meat, so I just had to pick the shrimp pieces out of the box and eat them as a side with my egg roll.
