I live near Tabernacle and I come here now and again for sandwiches. Admittedly their stuff is a tad expensive, but all and all they're alright. The real attraction for me though is their soda collection; a lot of really weird novelty sodas. read more

Too bad the new owners can't get any order straight. Tried a couple times, Nixon's isn't working for me anymore!

Stopped in ordered Wings(12) Mild ,Jalapeno poppers,and got small macaroni salad. First on way back to work with my food I opened the poppers looked good until I bit in the cream cheese had a funny taste rolled window down spit it out tried another one same taste. Tried Mac salad not terrible but bitter like too much apple vinegar mixed in. Then get back to work for lunch I pulled out these wings that all appeared to be lolipopped as well as there was only 10 counted now there were a mix of drums and flats also 1 whole wing and the end still had feathers on it bit into 1 and it had a terrible taste also had a weird color and was very rubbery like the were reheated and the mild sauce looked like paste. So in the I paid almost $23 dollars for wasted food and the shits. These new owners took a great business and destroyed a landmark! read more

Effort is there. I tried, I really did. Italian hoagies the meat is pre-cut every morning (I used to work there when jack owned it) all you gotta do is add the toppings and wrap it up. This place has great hoagies, cheesesteaks, pretty much everything is great that they have. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not five is because sometimes they can be heavily packed and not prepared for it. I feel bad for the new owners. The person who sold them the general store knew what type of area this is. Yes, I said it. Tabernacle is full of entitled white people that don't want someone shades darker than them to sell them a sandwich. Not unless they smile at them a certain way. The quality of the food is not that different, in my opinion. And every time that I was there, I was treated well by whoever was behind the cash register, and, whoever was at the deli counter. My two complaints are about the menu and the inventory. Copies of the menu should be available for customers to take home. Those copies should be in plain sight. Nixon's is one of the few takeout places that serve a certain area. Take advantage of that and offer what you're competitors do not offer. If you were the only place that would deliver takeout on Memorial Day for instance, or, stay open a little bit longer than Murphy's. Just a suggestion. read more

We ordered two cheesesteaks with onions and hot peppers. Got 2 cheesesteaks with raw onions and mushrooms. One of the family members is allergic to mushrooms. Called to tell them. The gentleman that I spoke to flat out told me I was lying. I have the printed out receipts. They did not apologize because "the grill cook was sure he made it correctly". We are owed an apology and a refund. P.s. I STILL have the order tag. Since this store has been under new management, everything has gone bad. After 25 years, we won't be coming back. read more

Awesome deli, family owned and operated. They have both cold and hot menu items with a wide variety of refrig. cases for side items and drinks. They also sell ice cream and a wide variety of candies, including lots of old time favorites. Nixons also sells "Piney" related items (Tabernacle is on the north end of the pine barrens) Great place to stop on the way to the shore. read more

The quality of the take-out has really gone down over the last couple of months. Got a cheese steak and it was so greasy it was hard to eat. On another trip we got a hoagie and that was sub-par also. Ok so I've been in love with their food since I've lived here. The new owners took over in June and the quality has gone down in a spiral. They are always running out of food and their store is always under stocked. The new employees that were hired under the new owners are rude and don't seem to know how to treat customers. Barf. Stay away from this place. Looks unsanitary and has a funky smell in the store. Also they put their own Nixon's stickers over normal brands of soda. Is that even legal? The food will not sit right in your stomach, just drive right by this place on your way down the shore. read more

And they're delicious. Many may say the thin, long,sharp, spiral cut is the superior cut. I disagree , the cube is a multi-purpose, flavour encompassing beauty. I see no inherent value in the far inferior thin cut; it does not provide enough flavour because of how thin they would be; it does not represent what onions are. They are a scourge on our society. I had a very disappointing experience at Nixon's today. We went there today and they only had 2 pork roll egg and cheese sandwiches in their sandwich bin. It was 10 am. This didn't happen with the old owners. I asked the teenager working there if there were anymore coming out. He went to the back and ridiculed me by saying "we are in dyer need of pork roll sandwiches. It's a matter of life or death." I needed 1 sandwich. So 15 minutes later (after I was told they were coming out 10 minutes ago) another teenager from the back walks out and says "Are you the pork roll guy?" He comes out with 3 sandwiches when all I needed is one. Also this last comment is insulting and not professional. I will be calling the manager tomorrow. We have been coming here for 9 years and never had this experience. Someone needs to be there and teach people about customer service. Waller's is right down the road..... read more

Not impressed. Have eaten here 3 times and there won't be a fourth. Items are subpar and overpriced. The thin fries were under-cooked frozen fries and greasy. The cheez whiz was hypersalted. The bacon for the fries was 3 thin strips in foil. The tuna on a garden salad was ok but placed in a bowl filled to the top so the dressing would have been placed on the already prepared tuna salad. When dumped into a appropriate sized bowl, it revealed some browned romaine lettuce pieces. I have tried their hoagies as well and was not impressed. I agree with another's review that Wawa is a better bang for the buck. One more thing, the overpriced chocolate candies are also subpar. The dark chocolate caramels were terrible. The caramel itself lacked any buttery flavor, it was more like a sugar fest. Those caramels were $7.90 for about 8 pieces. Very disappointing given the good rating here on Yelp. read more

I live around the area and as much as I love the store and its rich heritage, I really can't stand the attitude of some of the workers. I've been there countless times and I feel more and more like I'm getting ripped off. I mean the soda machine has no refills written on it about 40 times and they even charge you for a cup of ice which is about 2 dollars. Once again, great place for a change of pace from the Wawa's around here, but I think I get better service at my local gas station. read more

This place is amazing. Simply the best, its a quaint mom and pop store, with all kinds of random hard to find candy and sodas. And the deli. The cheese steaks are great, as is a pork roll and cheese. But if you want something amazing, and are really hungry. Order a bucknasty. Its a burger with fries and onion rings on top. Its filling and to die for. And stop by Russos for a fresh apple cider donut. Over all its a small town, nothing to do, but stop by on your way to the shore or if youre out there. Its so worth it. read more
