With a swing set, a big climbing frame, slides, a flying fox and a skate board bowl, there is something here to entertain all the kids while you could be walking the dog (on leash only). Upland Road playground also has a lot of greenery for you to sit down on and set up a picnic for lunch or those summer evenings. Located incredibly close to Benson Road dairy, it's only a short hop and skip away to get an ice block, ending a perfect fun filled afternoon at the playground. I have grown up coming to this playground and have taken my siblings here a number of times. It's always a favourite; you just can't go past the awesome flying fox!

Plenty of seating for parents while the kids play. There is also a big flying fox, and a skate park for the bigger kids. But note - if you are allergic to grass, this is the grass that will make you come out in a rash. Parking is on the road.

It gets full-on busy at the weekends and there's a bit of posing and attitude so probably not good for the younger kids. It's a jungle out there yo. There's also a really cool modern design playground with some stuff I haven't seen before; as well as a flying fox, volleyball "court" and a rugby field. There's a lot of stuff to do here as long as you don't need lush nature, serenity or relaxation with your park visit.

After some investigating using my phone, I saw this park nearby, so I went to check it out. And it isn't just a patch of grass. There was a fierce game of volleyball going on (the net is always up) and lots of kids using the skatepark. There was a modern playground fo ther children to play on, that included climbing walls, a roundabout and wait for it, a flying fox! There was some sports fields also and I even spotted some vegetable plot areas (which I imagine are for the community to use).

I wanted to stay in those spaces, smell all the flowers, touch all the plants, and pick some of the very ripe fruits and vegetables. I realize now that for a city park Grey Lynn is well rounded. It has a fantastic playground for the kids to play in, right next to an outdoor paddling, splash pool- which is free to use of course. There are lots of leafy green trees to shade the hot sun in the middle of the day; as well as a giant flying fox for the older kids to let loose on. This park is fab for running laps in, playing soccer, or basketball at, and taking the family dog out for a run and fetch. They even have a cool Skate Ramp to flip some boards on too. I have always enjoyed Grey Lynn Park and will continue to for many years to come.

(if it happens to be full - every time I've been here it's been empty. To the point that my American friends joked that's how Kiwi's like their pools) The Grey Lynn festival goes on here once a year, otherwise it's just a nice area to hang around in without travelling far away from the city. It's not so nice to be near at night though, so make sure the sun is shining and the weather is fine.

We also saw a cool area where people were working out and being active. There's a large walking/ running track. The park has some beautiful trees and huge lawn to sit and enjoy the scenery. They have some huge gorgeous trees. Definitely a nice place to take a stroll, sit and relax or just get your work out on.

I lived in Mount Albert for three years and the actual mountain 'Mt Albert' saved me so many times…read morewhen I needed some time out from my busy life. It's the perfect place to soak in the beautiful scenery and get some fresh air. I'd go from runs around the mountain or else just sit on the park bench and look out over the city. Every Saturday morning the mountain comes alive with people taking their dogs for a walk, throwing a ball around and also shooting in the archery field. We sometimes would take fish and chips up to the lookout and have dinner up there. The park does close so if you take your car up make sure you're out before they shut the gate. Mt Albert is an awesome asset for Auckland and it's great to see people use it so often.

There was a quite a bit besides just the summit - I spotted a soccer field and even people doing Archery (not quite like The Hunger Games). There road is tarsealed all the way to the top. I think this is a good green space for the local community. It provides a good workout (that you could do in a reasonably short amount of time) and is perfect for getting out in the fresh air and looking out over Auckland city.

We took the field trail up, I did it in sandals but sneakers or hiking shoes would be better, and we took the road on the way down. There were people having picnics, kids playing, dogs walking, people just enjoins the great outdoors. As we started the trail you can see cattle, a small cafe, and more at the bottom. As you climb the views are amazing. A 360 panoramic view of Auckland is visible from the top. It was just a majestic view from the top. Walk is easy, the views are spectacular, the trees are so unique and huge, it was lovely.

Tahaki Reserve is a park I have spent countless hours playing in over the years. Located on the…read moreside of Mt Eden, this park boasts a pretty good playground, flying fox, mini amphitheatre where movies and gigs are often held and nice grounds for a picnic. I admit the flying fox used to be my favourite aspect of Tahaki Reserve - it was an old wooden one that you held on to, not like the ones you sit on now - and we used to where our rollerblades at the same time. You can imagine the fun we had! Zooming off on the flying fox, only to put your feet down at the end and keep going on your rollerblades! Needless to say I grazed many a knee at Tahaki Reserve when I was younger, and even had the privilege of kicking the top off my toe there - but the fact that it remains one of my favourite parks is testament to how nice it is there. Though I no longer run amuck around the playground, I still enjoy picnic dinners in Tahaki Reserve. Taking hot Chinese takeaways and sitting on the wee stage in the top corner of the park is a pretty nice way to spend an evening with your partner, or group of friends, not to mention it's perfect for midday picnics with the family and a friendly game of Frisbee! Tip: Tahaki Reserve also hosts full moon parties on occasion - a whole lot of free-spirited people gather in the park and party the night away - it's pretty cool!

It's an expansive, nicely sheltered park on the side of Mount Eden that's also easy to get to & from. A quick walk here ensures I've got plenty of fun, physical things to do; from braving the Flying Fox, hill sprints up a refreshingly even paved path, cartwheels along the lush grass fields, hopping onto the adult-friendly swings, testing my metal on the small merry-go round, hanging on the monkey bars and even playing a quick game of tic tac toe! My partner and I spent hours here enjoying the sun and revelling in the opportunity to have fun whilst getting fit. I got to embrace my inner child in a perfectly lovely environment that I'll be sure to visit regularly from now on. Afterwards, due to the great location, it was all to easy for us to stroll past a dairy for a sneaky ice cream in celebration of our favourite new park. I recommend Tahaki Reserve to both adults and children, there's something's for everyone to enjoy.
