This school is very toxic and tightly controlled. There was a strong sense of surveillance in daily interactions, and the atmosphere is driven more by fear than by trust ( in fact, there's no "trust" at all) . There's also ZERO job security, and you can get terminated anytime for no reason! I constantly felt uncertain about my position, which created a lot of stress for me (it seemed that this was a common feeling among many others as well). From an academic perspective, I was very concerned about how heavily AI tools seemed to be relied on in creating curriculum. Technology can support education, but programs that require significant tuition should be built through thoughtful academic design and strong educational oversight. regret enrolling in NiWE Academy. The program is extremely expensive for what you actually receive, and my experience there was incredibly disappointing. The tools provided were very low quality. Several students had scissors fall apart during the program, and no replacements were offered. Considering the cost of the program, it's unacceptable that the tools students are required to buy are such poor quality. The training itself was minimal. We were loosely shown how to perform about four haircuts, and even those demonstrations were rushed and poorly explained. There was almost no instruction on fundamentals like how to properly hold scissors, sanitation procedures, or consistent cutting techniques. Now that I'm working in a barbershop, I honestly feel like I'm starting from zero. During orientation, the dean spent a long time talking about her credentials and how strict the academy is about professionalism--no being late, black clothing only, no ripped clothes, and professional conduct. In reality, none of those rules were enforced. One student showed up almost three hours late during orientation and was allowed to stay. The classroom environment was chaotic. Students were yelling, running around, and behaving unprofessionally. At one point someone punched a mannequin so hard it flew across the room and hit me. I filed a safety complaint, but nothing meaningful changed. The final exam process was also concerning. Cheating was widespread, with one student sharing answers with others while the instructor repeatedly left the room. When I reported it, I was told, "Who cares, we just want everyone to pass at this point." Everyone received extremely inflated grades and overly positive feedback regardless of performance. Most students scored close to 100% even when the haircuts were clearly poor. We also never practiced on real models, which left many of us unprepared for real barbershop work. To make things worse, the academy is now withholding my diploma until I pay for the same low-quality tools that many students already had issues with. Overall, the program felt disorganized and unprofessional. I left with debt, poor tools, and very little practical training. I'm truly amazed that this academy is accredited. I was enrolled in the PMU course a couple of years ago and the entire experience went from bad to worse. Here's why I will never recommend NIWE to anyone wanting to get into the beauty industry: (Red flag #1) Confirmation email didn't come until a couple of days before the start date, I was anxious because i'd be travelling from a small community 2 hours away and had taken the entire month off hairstyling to attend the academy. (Red flag #2) " Orientation " was just the owner boasting about how she's made millions. Waste of time, especially for my 4 week long course. Our Instructor informed us she didn't think 4 weeks was enough time. (Red flag #3) We were asked to leave reviews on day ONE. Seemed sus at first but its obvious to me now that they want the review before you find out how much of a dumpster fire this place truly is. (Red flag #4) I was in a group of 6 women. 4 of those women had been in the class before mine that was cut short do to an instructor being fired part way through. They were added to my session. So, over half of the class had a tiny bit of experience from the previous course (important for later) (Red flag #5) They were INCREDIBLY pushy about us students being models for each other. I'd expressed how I didn't feel comfortable with a student working on my face, but " No " simply wasn't a good enough answer. At this point alarm bells are going off...i've absolutely never received that kind of " peer pressure " by an instructor of any beauty course before. We were paying 6000 dollars to learn from them, not be botched by someone with no experience. (Red flag #6) The course is now being offered as an 8 week training program, rather than 4. So instead of admitting they f*#ked up my session by attempting to teach us in 4wks, they tried to speed through everything. We skipped the practice sheets and went straight into tattooing real clients!! I was terrified to touch a real face with only 10 minutes of practice with the machine. My friend and I informed our instructor that we felt like we weren't ready to practice on a real model given that we'd barely learned how to use machine let alone tattoo with it; to which the instructor informed us that we " don't have enough time, before we move on to next subject ". They were more concerned with staying on track than properly training us...which is the whole point of attending an academy. If I wanted to learn on the fly i'd have better luck watching youtube videos. (Red flag #7) We had to pull students from other esthetics courses to use as models, interrupting their class time. We were given a quick demo by our instructor and then told to tattoo the students we'd pulled from the other class. They had the " more experienced " students guide us while we attempted to tattoo the models. I ended up walking out after that day. It was made VERY clear to me that NIWE's priority is to make tons of money pushing students through poorly planned courses and not giving future professionals the education they are paying a large sum of money for. I went there to learn, not to " fake it till you make it " the worst part is, is that there are many more examples of how bad this whole institution is but I don't want to ramble on. Do your research, read reviews from actual students and not just clients who get cheap services. It's academies like NIWE that give the beauty industry a bad name by pumping out a bunch of uneducated " professionals ". Think many times before enrolling in this NIWE Academy and pay or have a loan of $16,500.00. Compare other schools that are more respectful and visit multiple schools; you will recognize the differences and avoid my mistakes of not being careful. Here is my advice if you decide to attend this school: 1. Do a comprehensive search and use extreme caution. During enrollment, "Sponsored" advertisements appear above NNIWE Academy on Google, Facebook, and other social media platforms. Those ads will disappear as soon as the course starts. Though they are part of marketing, they are misleading and may influence your right decision. 2. Take your time and visit as many schools as possible, and don't be overwhelmed by smiles, welcome, and fun, as that is temporary. Also, take caution when you hear advertising language such as "clinical aesthetic, " "medical products," etc. 3. If you enrolled, never write a review as they will push you on the second day to write a good review. I was lucky not to do so, otherwise, I will regret that. 4. Be aware of the "practical quota." You will be responsible for collecting clients and promoting that there is a discount, and your clients will pay for your learning. If you are sincere, that is too difficult because the service is expensive, and the school will not pay for the service for your learning and get an advantage over your clients. 5. NEVER tolerate disrespect. You will notice one instructor disputes and disseminates gossip, which may stress you out. Please don't be scared; she acts like this to show she controls the NIWE. She will do anything, even change your grades!!! Academic dishonesty!!! 6. There were no clinical aesthetics instructors for over 1/4 of our course (and the previous course). Because attendance is mandatory, they told us to do the assignments (from pre-recorded lectures and DO THE LAUNDRY if we wanted to leave. Let your group ask for compensation immediately for missed days if more than a week. 7. Finally, revise your answers and grades, as we have so many mistakes that the academic advisor promised to correct but still needs to fix. Remember that the management will never be for your help as they only care about growing their business; they never respond to emails or requests. Wish you good luck. read more

Called and booked an apt for a 'red carpet facial'. Arrived to find out it was a only consultation and I had to come back at a later date to receive treatment. 'Clinical instructor' was short, said the 'front desk staff' wasn't aware of the process. I'm not too sure why these reviews are so bad, this school is just starting off but its doing really well! The atmosphere is beautiful and the facilities are very clean as well! As a student I get one on one attention with the teachers, (there being only 2 by the way!). Their basic course is very detailed and very helpful, the teachers want you to succeed. We learned the whole spectrum from nails, facials, waxing, (I hear they may be setting up a nutrition course toov now that sounds fancy!). I guess paying a lot of money for a course can be risky, but so far, it's definitely worth it :). Ps, you're definitely taking a risk going to some over high paying schools, what would you rather have, a certificate and to fend for yourself or some knowledge to back it up? I went to this school for my initial meeting and found the facility to be beautiful and very clean. The esthetics basic kit included a nail file, nail buffer a nipper and pusher. The cost of the course was $5692 ( which has now increased). In the pamphlet this was to include mani/pedi, bacteriology, sterilization, makeup, waxing, facials, body treatments, and basic artificial nails. I was surprised upon seeing this kit as I feel there MUST be more essentials needed to perform all these duties. For the first 2 weeks of school there was no instructor and students felt as though it were more of a hangout. Soon after they had students painting each other's nails and were told not to do wet manicure's as they wern't acceptable. They had the students using the foot scrub as facial scrub, and used cuticle oil on the scalp calling it Indian head massage.The gel kit included only gel and acrylic and a uv lamp and 2 brushes. Throughout the ENTIRE course the students were watching You tube for instruction on nails and specifically facials! One could save themselves $5000 and teach themself via you tube! The tablet was put on the model's chest and the student was to follow you tube instruction. This is the most unprofessional school I have encountered and am curious as to how they have recieved accreditation. There has been a high turnover of instructors as well and many students from what I understand have not even recieved recipts for tuition. Text books needed to be bought and paid for over and above the tuition fee. I would reccommend ANY other school besides this one. It is a waste of valuable time and money. read more

As much as I enjoyed my instructor as well as my classmates I wouldn't recommend this school if you intend to take the Clinical Aesthetics program. Skin care is my passion & I was so excited to start working but everywhere I go no clinics have heard of this place... I've been none stop looking for a job for 5 months & nothing - now I have an 11,000 some loan to start paying off which is in my opinion way too much for a 5 month course & my class didn't even get certain certificate we were told we were getting like the previous class before us.. & you can't even start your own business wth the certificate because they will tell you you're certified but you aren't - I've tried & talked to companies that have products I want to work with & they all said I need & medical director to even carry them. You're better off getting a nursing degree - no time & work yes. But you're actually qualified, companies want to hire you, plus there is more opportunity. At the end of the day I'm very disappointed because I'm back at square one. read more

I would say my experience here was very mediocore. Starting off with the good was the price and the girls working at the front desk. Very sweet and accommodating however my compliments for this place ends there. I paid for the $50 facial and Mani/pedi and I went in on two different days so I had two different students. The facial, was very mediocore. My face really didn't feel any different afterwards and I didn't feel as clean and relaxed as I would hope for. The atmosphere of the room was uncomfortable as there was no music and when the student had left the room the several times I just felt the awkward silence and not at all relaxed. She also didn't tell me what she was doing before each step so I was quite annoyed when she unexpectedly started poking at my skin with a needle and I had no idea why. She also diagnosed my skin as oily with large pores which is...interesting. I'm not an esthetician so I really can't say but I find it hard to believe I have large pores when I look into the mirror and have a hard time finding them and when I have several dry flakes on my face and body. The worst part of it was I think when she told me "we usually give face massages during this procedure but because your skin is so oily (?) We will be skipping that" which just annoyed me. I mean I get why but I feel like she didn't need to tell me that. If I hadnt known there was usually a massage I wouldnt of even minded. In the end, I was left unsatisfied with the facial and I wouldnt care to recommend my friends to come and I wouldnt come back. Onto the Mani/pedi I felt like the student did a poor job. I paid for an additional shellac on top of my nails and the shellac has several air bubbles and is turning white from all the air trapped underneath. The layer also was uneven and she didn't cover the entire nail. My toe nails that are painted with just normal nail polish looks fine but I'm not impressed with the color range they have. A lot of repeats of the exact same polish and no range in colors. I dont think I saw a single light blue up there. The chairs were quite uncomfortable and I just generally didnt care for the Mani pedi and once again wouldn't come back for nails treatments or recommend to a friend. Finally the customer service of the students were just mediocore. I'm a often frequenter of student beauty spas like aveda institute and Eveline Charles and I find the students there are taught good customer service. They have a standard to hold up and make sure the students fit it. Here, it just felt like half assed students who already seem like they lost their drive for working in the beauty industry. I'd like to say you get what you pay for but I honestly don't think I did. I think a lot of other student spas would do a lot better. read more

This school has a lot of options as far as treatments and services go. The students seem very professional, great manners and prompt with their service. I have never had a bad experience and was rarely kept waiting for a service which so far has been a full leg wax and laser hair removal. The prices are affordable and I always tip the student if I felt like they did a great job, which they do. The facility is a little older but it's well kept and clean. The staff are warm and friendly I encourage people to support this school it's definitely worth checking out . read more
