Location wise, it's just a quick ten minute walk to the beach and the main Surfers Paradise hub. For the most part (besides the old bathroom) it's a clean room with a outdoor patio perfect for hanging out your wet swimsuit. It's along a river front and has a tennis court and gym and wifi available that you have to pay for. With that being said, the price tag was very reasonable given how close it is to everything. Cons: The bathrooms need a face lift. They look old and that shower head should just be completely replaced. And customer service should be better. There was one person at the check in counter, juggling four different guests. Understaffed much? Also, easy amenities such as pool towels should be available. Unless you expect your guests to travel with beach towel? Sorry but no. And the bed was not comfy at all, they made a King size by scooting together two twin sized beds. And the crease was the worst, why even bother, some case you shouldn't fake it til you make it. With the good and bad, it gives you the strange thought that this hotel isn't doing so well. But hey, we went during off peak season, so it's probably a 360 during school holidays. The Paradise Island Resort boasts that it is a 3.5 star facility and the only island resort in Surfers Paradise. Stay here for the location.

Despite the obvious no smoking in the rooms our room reaked of cigarette smoke. Make sure you take your own toaster, plates, bowls, and cutlery. The 4 of us had 2 coffee mugs, 3 spoons and a water glass to share between us. For a family facility they severely lack in room needs. I understand they want people to go eat at their cafes or diners but not everyone wants to do that for every meal. The meals by the way are pretty average but the kids fun make up for it. And to be honest the kids food pricing is good. There was an American employee who I chatted to throughout the visit and he was very entertaining running the 'just dance' competition which was a hit and the poolside movie night on the blow up screen is such a great idea. The adult BBQ proving I thought was not worth it. The coleslaw and a pasta salad that had Mayo in it sat out for a while making it unsafe to eat in my opinion but the staff cooking the meat etc were wonderful and helpful. I love being on holiday with my kids but I love that there is also an adults only section with its own spa. Nice to have stuff like cocktail and beer tastings for the grown ups. I would say overall its value for money and we would return for a few days.
