We may have got a bit carried away with the air guitars and the group sing alongs. The only two negatives I have about my experience was that I had previously been too Slam star, and they had a larger selection of songs. Which was great for me as I like alternative rock music. I found lucky voice quite limited in comparison. Also, I don't know if it's just me but I like a slight backing vocals to a track so I can properly time myself, where I felt like it was all me and it made me feel a little self conscious. It's not the worst thing in the world but it did hinder my experience ever so slightly. Apart from that, I had such a good time singing my little heart out.

It's a great stop off for some traditional pub grub after a hard days shopping. They have live music nights every Tuesday which is usually local acoustic acts, but there's also heavier cover bands including a regular Jimi Hendrix impersonator.

Definitely recommend for a fun time, but be warned, because this is a smaller venue sometimes they engage a queuing system, like on the evening I went, but I wasn't in queue for long.

The staff are really friendly and welcoming and really do their best to create a relaxed atmosphere. We drink there quite a bit in the daytime as its a lot more chilled out than the evening surge. They have free wi-fi too so its quite handy to pop in for a pint, some lunch and get on-line. In the evening (especially at weekends) it can really take off with its award winning entertainments; Karaoke nights, DJs and hilarious drag acts really bring the crowds in. Well worth checking out.

The drinks selection is pretty standard but they do have Stowford Press cider on tap, which is always a big hit with me! The vibe is relaxed and semi-alternative...whatever that means. The bar staff play good indie and rock music and the place always has a buzz about it. In the summer, the garden is a lovely place to enjoy a pint, with a few picnic tables and plenty of foliage and fairy lights adorning the walls...they've managed to transform what was a dingy concrete area into a lovely little space. There are also a few tables out the front, but it is a somewhat less peaceful place to drink, as the road there is pretty busy. Upstairs they have a room that is available to hire and it is occasionally used for charity and student organized functions. In the summer I went to a screening of 'The Age of Stupid' here- the room was pretty warm and it definitely wasn't as comfy as the cinema, but it's a perfectly good space to put on an event like this. If it's a charity event you are likely to be able to use the space for free too!

Th decor is gothic to say the least with red walls, sexy lady artwork and of course the hounds. Their cocktails aren't great but the selection is varied for a pub venue, 'death in the afternoon' will make you feel just that. The music can be heavy but bareable, everything from Deftones to Radiohead. They have live events a couple of times a week upstairs, offering punk rock, heavy metal & comedy nights. The pub quiz is always a laugh attracting a varied clientele and the prize for guessing how many sweets in a jar can mount up as it rolls over weekly. The Sunday roasts are gorgeous and they have a shelter small out doors seating area with fairy lights which is nice for those summer nights.

There is an outdoor area which is one of the very few areas on the jetty where you can smoke (the other location is, not surprisingly, the other bar), but it also does provide a decent view (since they are no doubt trying to keep the smokers away from everybody else, so they had not choice but to give then a view). Not a great bar, but at least its a place to grab a drink if you are dragged down here.

Its one of the oldests gay venues in brighton, trading for 27 years. The main reason I go to the Bulldog is its late license, its open until 2am seven days a week. On entering the venue it is certaining not scary and the staff/customers were more than welcoming. Its permanently heaving including on Sundays so its great for a drink after everywhere else has closed for the night.

Its real small and cosy and I was greeted as soon as I entered. The bar man/land lord was friendly and had a great sense of humour. The locals gathered at the bar although maybe looked a little intimidating on entry, soon turned out to be welcoming and friendly too. There was an open mic event on and it seemed only the compare was the one singing until a couple of young students came in and were encouraged by the regulars to get up and have a go. They were very talented and were rewarded with a drink! Great little pub and I can't wait to go again
