I was in Denver for a few days of vacation. I needed it. Before I had even arrived in Denver, I had thought about consulting Nikki about some issues I have been having. I had never tried acupuncture, but I was familiar with traditional Chinese medicine and knew about five element theory. She agreed to see me and treat me. She was the consummate professional. I filled out some paperwork detailing my health history and the current issues I was facing. Then, we talked. We talked for some time. I have a background in counseling so I am pretty familiar with the process. However, the purpose of the discussion was to figure out the cause of my problems and then find a way to treat them. She was very perceptive and honest and her candor and professionalism encouraged me to open up about the complicated nature of the health challenges I face. She came to some conclusions about the nature of my health problems and the underlying causes of them. We talked it over and it all seemed to make sense to me. I wont get into the details, but rest assured it was a very realistic and concrete assessment based in her understanding of my issues within the context of five element theory. One of the treatments was with acupuncture. The first was an initial treatment to try to mitigate and mediate one of the underlying causes of my health issues. Because I had never had acupuncture before, Nikki talked me through the process and explained why she was doing what she was doing and what our expectations were. She handled the process with a calmness and gentility that was very reassuring. There were no surprises. I emerged from the process not just feeling better but with a sense of well-being; for me, that distinction is quite profound. Nikki later treated me a second time to support the earlier treatment and to work with some corresponding issues; the follow up was carried out with the same professionalism and efficacy as the earlier treatment. It was a very good experience for me. I firmly believe that it will continue to be for a long time. The other treatment was both a treatment and a response to the probability that my health concerns will reoccur. To be honest, it is a long term and reoccurring issue. I have seen medical practitioners and specialists for some five years and all they ever do is marvel at the peculiar nature of my "anomoly," and generally give me ineffectual treatments for my symptoms. They have never figured out the cause. I think Nikki did. It made sense to me what she said. She gave me traditional medicine to use as both a durational preventative and remediative response to crisis situations. When my problem flares up, this time I think will have an answer. I feel good about that. I, honestly, think that I am a different person after seeing Nikki. I believe in what she did for me. I have confidence in both her diagnosis and prognosis. Nikki is wonderful. I am a personal trainer who has been to many massage therapists. Nikki is the first one to apply the science behind what she does. I strained my neck while working out a couple times and it has been very uncomfortable. My first visit with Nikki, she was able to pinpoint some of the primary issues causing the problem. I have been going to see Nikki for several years now, first for massage, and now for both acupuncture AND massage. I have chronic nerve damage in my legs and Nikki is the only one that can really dig deep enough into my legs that I can FEEL those muscles and have some relief!
