I went to this event on may 18th in Chicago. Overall it was the best run I have ever done!!!! I am visiting family in chicago before moving to Minneapolis for work for a bit and I went to this event by myself. I never really do things solo and was kind of nervous that I would be bored but I have never had so much fun at a run or concert by myself!!! It started off kind of awkward walking around but I got free pre-workout and just stretched by myself. Once the run started it was amazing! It would be nice if they organized it to not have people walking first so I have to dodge a ton of people at the beginning because I came to run but it was fun after getting by everyone! There are small stages basically every half mile of music that motivates you to run more or you can have a nice fun break. The full run was around 4.3 miles and I did great time. I got back earlier than a lot so I was able to get close to the stage and I was planning on watching for 20-30 minutes then walking back to my relatives but I ended up staying the whole time! It was so much fun and the concert was awesome to get into. I forgot I was even there by myself. I have never gone to a EDM concert or anything but I am glad to say this was my first one and I will definitely be going to more. The runners high helped a lot of me get out of my comfort zone as well. It was an awesome show that was fun and you dont even have to be drunk to feel comfortable since you are so tired from the run and everyone is sweaty from it anyway so you just dont care and get into the music. The performance was amazing and fun. Overall I am so happy I got out of my comfort zone and went to this run. I am hoping I can make the one in Minneapolis if I am in town! This is honestly one of or the best event I have ever attended. Good for all ages and anyone who enjoys working out or music or both. read more

We did the Color Run in Detroit and it was great. And I am giving an extra star because there is something about completing a run, even a 5k, that is very gratifying. The entire event was disorganized. Pretty sure we could have gotten shirts and numbers without ever paying - we did pay but they never checked. There were guys that were supposed to be checking purses and had metal detectors, but the wands were just at the security teams' sides. They allowed way way WAY too many runners. It created a major problem because the people that wanted to run couldn't get around the people who didn't. At the color run they had a walk side and a run side, but not at this race. So we wanted to run but couldn't. The surface was cracked, rutted, and in places pitch dark. Several people were injured along the course, I think it was likely because they were drunk (it seemed to be encouraged) or because the uneven surface tripped them. It is a cool idea, but the execution was very poor. The sites of the city were amazing. Oh and no tp in the porta potties. Ew. read more

My coworker bought tickets to this run and could not do it so she gifted them to my husband and I and we ran it. We may have been the oldest people there (we are both 41) but it was, overall, a good time. It was like a big dance party ( a smaller version of a dance music fest -like imagine one stage at Lolla) and then you lined up to run a 5K. Given the party atmosphere, we just ran it for fun and knew we couldn't take it too seriously. There were speakers and DJ booths throughout and I was really, really impressed with the route. I do a lot of 5Ks all over the city and I had never run that specific route (left the Soldier Field area and headed north along the lake, and ended up coming back close to Lake Shore Drive and finished back in the festival. Afterward, we had one beer and just soaked in the good music and vibe and then left. We are no longer the night owls of our youth. I think she only paid $25 or so for the tickets - well worth the experience. If it comes back, I will do it again! It was fun! read more
