A popular pub just outside the centre of Romsey, serving home-cooked food and a range of real ales, alongside a full bar.
The pub has a terrace at the front for outside drinking and dining, a bar area at the front with a raised area with tables behind, and, pasty the kitchens, a further dining room which can also be hired for private events. Next to this is a pretty internal courtyard with further opportunities for al fresco dining. The decor is a mixture of brick and walls painted in muted coloured (dark greys and mustards) and wooden floors.
Service is friendly and efficient: they have a crowd of friendly regulars for both food and drinks, and there are regular quiz nights. Wednesdays have special 2-4-1 offers on burgers and steaks.
The menu offers a sensibly limited range of pub classics: on our visit we had a steak with chips, tomato and mushrooms; and vegetarian sausages with mash, garden peas and red onion gravy. Both were really good and heartwarming. Our meals plus two rounds of drinks came in under £30. We'd happily visit again. read more
