Ed did a wonderful job as DJ at a Yelp 'virtual event' this evening! There were 45 of us, all different ages, different parts of the country, and Ed kept the music going from a variety of genre's. Sometimes they were up tempo, and sometimes a little more mellow, keeping us all in the 'sweet spot' where we were all having a good time. We were all bopping our heads and dancing in our seats. Ed was spot on for our wedding. Really, I can't say enough good things about him. I reached out to him after reading his reviews and hearing good things about Night Owl from my venue and another DJ friend. And I was immediately at ease with him after the first time we chatted on the phone, which was maybe 15 minutes after I requested more information from him from his site. The guy is prompt! We meshed immediately, and I think that's due to the fact that Ed can pretty much mesh with anyone. After chatting with us about our overall vision for the ceremony and reception, he sent along a three or four page questionnaire. It took some time to fill out, but along with getting him all the details, it also helped my now-husband and I solidify our music expectations. And then we stayed in contact leading up to the big day. He came out and met us with the venue representatives to make sure everyone was on the same page for where his DJ stand would be set up for the ceremony and reception. He also stuck around with us for more than an hour after the venue meeting to make sure he understood our music tastes, must-play songs, never-ever-ever play songs, songs for the ceremony, how the bridal party should be introduced for the reception, etc. Ed offered up great suggestions, but with each he would say, "It's your wedding, so do what makes you happy." Loved that there were no judgments for some of our more nerdy, out-there music requests. His rates were cheaper than others, and while I'm biased, he's one of the absolute best wedding DJs I've seen in action. He knows how to read a room and kept the dance hits coming. Ed kept an eye on the schedule, moving everything along smoothly from the ceremony to dinner to cake to first dances to dancing the night away. He took requests, and I heard several guests remark how much they enjoyed what he was playing too. He also has a stage presence and confidence as a DJ, but that didn't overwhelm or take the spotlight away from the wedding party or dancing guests. It was a huge relief to know everything was in his capable hands. When I envisioned my wedding and reception, music was a huge part of that. He helped me see those expectations come to life. Ed was a wonderful DJ for our wedding! He was extremely responsive and professional from the get go. He went above and beyond to make sure the wedding was perfect. He helped with timeline of the reception, did a walk through of the venue prior to the wedding, and made sure everything was as we wanted it. Ed was awesome to work with! We hit it off on the phone immediately early on in my planning for our corporate 2019 holiday party at the Louisville Marriott Downtown. I had not planned a party of this size before (220) and he shared ideas and things I hadn't thought about. He listened to me and knew my 'vision' for the event. This review is long overdue. Ed was my DJ at my wedding last May and from the moment we first spoke until the end of the evening, he was awesome! He is reasonably priced and incredibly professional. Before our very first call, he phoned the venue to get all details on their AV setup, capabilities, power access, etc. so by the time we spoke, he already knew everything he'd need to bring and had a plan for how to manage logistics. He was also very helpful planning the music for each wedding event (cake cutting, grand entrance, parent entrance). At the wedding itself, Ed was an excellent emcee, had worked closely with my wedding planner to ensure the event flowed well and everybody had a good time. My wife found Ed Purcell's information online while searching for Louisville area DJs and we met up with him shortly after with no prior knowledge of him or his work. He went out of his way to make multiple meetings at locations and times to our convenience and was in constant email contact throughout the process. He was extremely professional and organized in showing us what he could contribute to our wedding ceremony and reception. He left no stone unturned in outlining and reaching a mutual understanding of the music selections and framework of our wedding, including coordinating lighting, dress, and timing with the other involved set-up parties.
