Ed was so perfect as our wedding DJ! He was so kind and checked in with me (the bride) and my groom throughout the day, making sure we were comfortable. The reception was everything I'd hoped for- I gave him music suggestions and my favorite artists and songs and he was perfect! The night was amazing, cannot recommend him enough!! read more

Ed was an absolutely incredible wedding DJ, and we are so thankful we chose him for our special day! From the moment we started planning, he went above and beyond to make sure everything was exactly the way we envisioned. His attention to detail was outstanding, and his organization made the entire process feel effortless. What truly stood out was Ed's giving personality--he genuinely cared about our happiness, and it showed in every interaction. He took the time to understand our style, our must-plays, and the overall vibe we wanted. He even showed up early and helped with any miscellaneous task our team needed! Thanks to him, our timeline ran smoothly from start to finish, and we didn't have to worry about a thing. And the music? Incredible! Ed kept the dancefloor packed until the very last song. Our guests had an absolute blast, and we've received so many compliments about the energy he brought to the night. Ed is truly great--professional, thoughtful, and unbelievably talented. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ! read more

Ed did a wonderful job as DJ at a Yelp 'virtual event' this evening! There were 45 of us, all different ages, different parts of the country, and Ed kept the music going from a variety of genre's. Sometimes they were up tempo, and sometimes a little more mellow, keeping us all in the 'sweet spot' where we were all having a good time. We were all bopping our heads and dancing in our seats. I can't thank you enough Ed. You really helped make this a wonderful event. I had a smile on my face the entire time and I know it was with your help, keeping the mood upbeat and giving us all a good time. It had never occurred to me that a DJ would be a great addition to a virtual event, but wow, it really made all the difference. The really great part, is you can do it from anywhere in the world! If you are thinking of needing a DJ, whether it's in person, or to enhance your virtual event, definitely consider giving ED at Night Owl DJ a call. Let the good times roll. read more

Wowsers!!! This DJ knows his audience. He knows how to read them. Knows what to play when. When to get them up and dancing and when to slow it down just a little. We just had him for a YELP event and he was fantastic!! He picked alllllll the "right" songs and kept our very eclectic group completely engaged. I'd highly recommend him for you event, be it weddings or professional team building, he will not disappoint. read more

Ed did a wonderful job as DJ at a Yelp event today. Ed was able to keep the party going for this Sunday - Funday! I appreciate the eclectic mix of music throughout the event. Thank you Ed for lifting everyone's spirits! read more

Ed was spot on for our wedding. Really, I can't say enough good things about him. I reached out to him after reading his reviews and hearing good things about Night Owl from my venue and another DJ friend. And I was immediately at ease with him after the first time we chatted on the phone, which was maybe 15 minutes after I requested more information from him from his site. The guy is prompt! We meshed immediately, and I think that's due to the fact that Ed can pretty much mesh with anyone. After chatting with us about our overall vision for the ceremony and reception, he sent along a three or four page questionnaire. It took some time to fill out, but along with getting him all the details, it also helped my now-husband and I solidify our music expectations. And then we stayed in contact leading up to the big day. He came out and met us with the venue representatives to make sure everyone was on the same page for where his DJ stand would be set up for the ceremony and reception. He also stuck around with us for more than an hour after the venue meeting to make sure he understood our music tastes, must-play songs, never-ever-ever play songs, songs for the ceremony, how the bridal party should be introduced for the reception, etc. Ed offered up great suggestions, but with each he would say, "It's your wedding, so do what makes you happy." Loved that there were no judgments for some of our more nerdy, out-there music requests. His rates were cheaper than others, and while I'm biased, he's one of the absolute best wedding DJs I've seen in action. He knows how to read a room and kept the dance hits coming. Ed kept an eye on the schedule, moving everything along smoothly from the ceremony to dinner to cake to first dances to dancing the night away. He took requests, and I heard several guests remark how much they enjoyed what he was playing too. He also has a stage presence and confidence as a DJ, but that didn't overwhelm or take the spotlight away from the wedding party or dancing guests. It was a huge relief to know everything was in his capable hands. When I envisioned my wedding and reception, music was a huge part of that. He helped me see those expectations come to life. Single friends, book him when you get married! I want to dance to his tunes again. read more

Ed was a wonderful DJ for our wedding! He was extremely responsive and professional from the get go. He went above and beyond to make sure the wedding was perfect. He helped with timeline of the reception, did a walk through of the venue prior to the wedding, and made sure everything was as we wanted it. The music was great and everyone had a great time on the dance floor because of him. Not to mention, his price was lower than many others that I was quoted but the quality was top-notch!! He also made us a customized monogram light for one of the reception walls. I received so many compliments in regards to the music and the light! If you are looking for a DJ- definitely talk to Ed at Night Owl. read more

Ed was awesome to work with! We hit it off on the phone immediately early on in my planning for our corporate 2019 holiday party at the Louisville Marriott Downtown. I had not planned a party of this size before (220) and he shared ideas and things I hadn't thought about. He listened to me and knew my 'vision' for the event. He was professional, take charge but not over bearing, he kept the party moving and kept things lively. Music was great. His interaction with the crowd was spot on. He helped with dance floor games and those made our party fun and interactive. I can't say enough good things about Ed. He showed up on time and prepared. Communication up to the event was just right. Will use him next year if he's free. Thanks Ed!! Happy Holidays!! read more

This review is long overdue. Ed was my DJ at my wedding last May and from the moment we first spoke until the end of the evening, he was awesome! He is reasonably priced and incredibly professional. Before our very first call, he phoned the venue to get all details on their AV setup, capabilities, power access, etc. so by the time we spoke, he already knew everything he'd need to bring and had a plan for how to manage logistics. He was also very helpful planning the music for each wedding event (cake cutting, grand entrance, parent entrance). At the wedding itself, Ed was an excellent emcee, had worked closely with my wedding planner to ensure the event flowed well and everybody had a good time. I seriously could not have asked for anyone better. 10/10 would hire him if ever I have a second wedding ;) read more

Ed was the DJ at my sister's wedding so based on his work there, we knew it was a no-brainer! From the very first phone call, Ed was prompt, professional, and thorough. He is clearly a seasoned DJ based on the questions he asked us, down to the tiniest of details for the big day. He was attentive in what my husband and I were looking for and made note of what was most important to us. Throughout the year of planning, he stayed in touch and followed up with tasks as deadlines hit. He even asked to attend a walk-through of our event space so he could meet our wedding coordinator, the vendors, and get a first-hand look of the set-up. We couldn't say more wonderful things about Ed as a wedding DJ, but also as a person. One of the most important aspects of our wedding was the dance floor and the music- Ed went above and beyond to ensure our special day was everything and more! If you're looking for a wedding DJ (who does way more than play great music), Ed is your guy! read more

We used Ed for our wedding, and he was simply awesome. So friendly, so professional, and so reliable. I knew that anything Ed was involved with was going to go smoothly. Even when things got a little out of hand at the end of the night (crazy friends, alcohol, dinner rolls, you know...) Ed was calm, cool, collected and a good sport. I've referred several friends to him since our wedding, and all of them have been very happy with him. You'll be really happy you picked Ed as your wedding dj. read more

My wife found Ed Purcell's information online while searching for Louisville area DJs and we met up with him shortly after with no prior knowledge of him or his work. He went out of his way to make multiple meetings at locations and times to our convenience and was in constant email contact throughout the process. He was extremely professional and organized in showing us what he could contribute to our wedding ceremony and reception. He left no stone unturned in outlining and reaching a mutual understanding of the music selections and framework of our wedding, including coordinating lighting, dress, and timing with the other involved set-up parties. He made sure to be present with music queues for our rehearsal at a strange time - early on a Thursday afternoon. The ceremony went absolutely perfect and according to plan. He transitioned to the reception with a pleasant and accommodating presence while avoiding the general pushiness of some DJs I've noticed at other weddings. Ed left a great impression with everyone he interacted with before, during, and after our wedding day and I would recommend his services to anyone. read more

We also found Ed courtesy of a Google search. What an awesome guy. It's like having a good friend watch over your wedding. Ed was fantastic about emailing back and forth keeping in touch the whole 9 months prior to our wedding. Everything came together beautifully. He does a great job of wearing different hats: DJ, timekeeper, general help in coordination, etc. Great Wedding DJ and even better guy. Two thumbs up, we highly recommend. read more

Ed Purcell, the owner of Night Owl DJs, recently DJed our wedding, and he was great! He did two extensive interviews with us before the wedding, and worked with us to really determine our tastes. He came up with some additional suggestions (blues music during the cocktail hour turned out to be a perfect fit!) that we wouldn't have thought of on our own. He was friendly and personable without getting in the way at the wedding-- perfect! read more

Ed Purcell was absolutely amazing to work with! He DJed our wedding in early June! Not only was he extremely professional, but he was also incredibly personal. He was so easy to talk to at all of our meetings. Emails were responded to in a prompt and professional manner, no matter what time of day! When we had to change the time of a meeting the day before, he was able to accommodate us and was able to meet us at the venue. He was able to come up with music during cocktail hour and did a great job during the reception! Everyone had a great time and throughout the night he kept checking in with me to make sure things were going the way I wanted them to! I would highly recommend Ed if you want a professional, personable DJ who will make your event wonderful!! read more
