Over the course of just a few months, Mimi took multiple days off, was then absent for an extended period, and resigned abruptly via text message with zero notice, claiming she had an ongoing family emergency to tend to. After Mimi's resignation, the agency shared that she had expressed concerns about working with our family. I honestly took the feedback hard and it sent me to a dark place, as I didn't know this nanny I TRUSTED was judging me and my home so harshly when I'm just trying to do the best I can as a postpartum working mom. For what it's worth, much of the feedback seemed to be rooted in misunderstandings and in some cases, reflected basic responsibilities that were explicitly outlined in our nanny agreement. And none of those concerns had ever been raised directly despite months of her being sweet and warm to our faces. Again, I do not blame the agency. While I can't recommend our experience with this particular nanny, I can say that Rimma handled a very difficult situation with professionalism and compassion, which is why I'm choosing to leave the agency a five-star review. Rimma followed up with us thoughtfully and took our concerns seriously, and worked quickly to ensure we had a fantastic temporary nanny in place so our family wasn't left without childcare.

But I kept meeting happy, friendly parents of happy, nice children, and finding out they were from the Co-op. I would see friends watching their kids together, and I would find out they were from the Co-op. I witnessed a parent handling their toddler's meltdown with confidence and empathy - also from the Co-op. So I chose the Co-op, and I am so, so glad that I did. My son is THRIVING. It's incredible watching him calmly (mostly) problem-solve his way through conflict with friends, be empathetic, use his imagination, and be outgoing and confident in the world. The Co-op is play-based, which essentially means we let our kids be kids. The school is a magical wonderland of fun where kids can choose their own adventures. And working in the classroom one day a week means we get to witness their growth and how wildly creative those adventures can be. Recently I watched several 3-4yr olds build a train out of wagons and blocks, taking turns being the conductor and passengers traveling to a myriad of destinations. Not only was it fun to watch, but also it was so incredible to see them work together, communicate their ideas clearly, and use their imaginations. And I was so excited to see a more cautious kiddo join in the fun. I did not expect to really know and love all of my kid's classmates, or for my son to love and feel safe with so many parents of his classmates. What a gift. Navigating the ever-changing world of toddler parenting is tough. Sleep regressions, potty training, transitioning from crib to bed, thumb sucking... With the Co-op, you get a pack of parent friends dealing with the same weird things, and monthly night meetings that are a hybrid of group therapy and research-backed lectures. We will swap tips on toothbrushing after a lecture on building emotional resiliency in children. I am now the confident parent who can - and has - handled the unexpected calmly and with empathy. And I have easy access to help - all of the teachers give great advice and can suggest books/articles/podcasts as needed, and our class WhatsApp is always popping off. The Co-op is not for everybody. As many reviews have mentioned, this is a parent-run school and that requires participation. We work one day a week in the classroom, attend a monthly night meeting, and sign up for a job to support the school. This is a requirement to keep the school running smoothly. This might sound overwhelming, but we take care of each other. It's easy to find someone to cover your work day, and the jobs play to people's strengths and availability. Teacher Kristy (school director) is incredibly sensitive and responsive in finding solutions to help you support the school in a way that doesn't overwhelm. The jobs can range from placing orders to keep the supply closets stocked, to serving on the board overseeing the school's finances. Just like the kids choose their own adventure, so do the parents. The MA Co-op is a special place. I truly cannot recommend the Co-op enough.

Everyday I see parents helping each other make it through, and not just the parents who are besties or belong to the same economic bracket. Everyone helps everyone.

And the boy kicked again, finally, one girl that is little bit older stand out to stop the boy. However, during the whole process, no teacher said anything. After this visit, I really do not want to send my daughter to this school, so I want my deposit back, but the school said no, because they hold the spot for me. However, they only hold this spot for about one week. I canceled the check, then they emailed and mailed me to pay them the deposit. And they also threatened me that if I DO NOT pay it, they will go to collections. What a horrible school.

But more than that, they embrace what's unique about each kid and try to bring out the best in them. Their mentality is much more one of playing to a kid's strengths vs. focusing on their weaknesses. They're incredibly open-minded and receptive to kids' needs, and never try to force them into one mold. Also, they're very friendly to working parents. As much as they do activities like family potlucks and walks to the park w/ the families, there's never any sense of judgment if you can't participate. There is a daily schedule that's probably pretty similar to other preschools/daycares, but I liked DCC's because it's more play-based compared to other programs. The atmosphere feels relaxed and more importantly - warm and accepting. I also love that DCC has an incredibly diverse makeup of kids, parents, and staff - it does wonders for kids when they have the opportunity to learn in a diverse, non-homogenous environment and learn to embrace diversity and inclusion from an early age. It's bittersweet that my son will be graduating and leaving DCC, but I look forward to my younger child joining DCC soon and getting to have an amazing experience too.
