Forget Timpsons and everything you thought you knew about mending shoes…read more This guy performs magic on your footwear and can restore anything to brand new state. You can tell he's a man who loves his trade. He brought my boots from the dead for 18 pounds. I would have paid him double that as they were expensive boots. The result was as-new boots. Same result with my wife's boots as well. If you have a pair of shoes that you really like but have gone pear shape, make an effort, go to Kingston and give it Tom. He's right there in the station.

Cricklewood Locksmiths & Shoe Repair

Highly recommend against using this locksmith for call outs - I had Sam (as he goes by - his name…read moreis Husam Edaan) come by our new flat for a simple change of locks and mailbox key job. He changed the mailbox and front door lock and though expensive this was all fine - but I noticed while he was there a rattle / loose fit in the existing lock and asked him if he could tighten the fit and get rid of the rattle. He said yes but that he didn't have the proper tools so would need to book a follow up. We did so - another £100 charge out - and to my surprise it took him 5 mins and he didn't in fact briny and new tools, just a screwdriver and hammer etc from his tool bag. So he was clearly just trying to get paid 2 charge out fees for 1 job. And to make matters worse, on the 2nd call out he noticed yet another problem (some of the bolts not sitting properly when locked), which got my wife all wound up and anxious, but said once again he would need to come back for a 3rd visit - and another £100 charge out! - since he didn't have time to do this while on site. In fact he had come to ours 30 mins earlier than agreed so when he claimed lack of time he was actually running 20 minutes early from when he was supposed to be with us! Clearly just trying to get paid 3 call out fees for one job. Unprofessional, dishonest and overpriced. Consider yourselves warned!

Quick Service. Cheap. Im a fan.

Mario's Shoe Care

I'm a great believer in getting maximum mileage from good shoes by having them reheeled and -soled regularly. I think I have spent more on maintenance on some pairs than they cost originally ... Mario's is almost back to its original glory, minus the addictive smell of glue. On quieter days you are served by the same guy who also does the actual job and remembers your shoes - aww. During busy periods he has a little helper who never seems to find the right bag ... everything is done on site, so no danger of your shoes being lost in transit and panics are only temporary (take a deep breath when you handed in your favourite Belstaff boots and are offered a pair of beaten up loafers instead ...). But it's the quality of the cobbling that counts, and that has definitely improved back to the original Mario's standards. Still no credit cards, and cash payments in advance - there's a cash point around the corner, so only a small inconvenience. Old school payment for old school service!
