After walking 17 miles today on the Camino I was exhausted! Our room wouldn't cool down. We called and asked for maintenance to come up but were told the AC wasn't on (even though the hallway and reception area was nice and cool) so they would switch our room and they'd be right up with the key to the new room. 15 minutes later still no key so husband had to go get the key. It may not sound like much but at this type of hotel you expect more! We've stayed at three NH Collection hotels in other countries and they were perfect. This one, not so much!! read more

Right in the heart of Vigo is this beautiful hotel. I walked in and instantly felt it was luxurious and full of class. The staff were dressed very sharp and had excellent customer service. It wasn't the stuffy, uncomfortable, and overly formal style of luxury - it was a perfect blend of making me feel spoiled yet also at home. The rooms were large with big windows, a well lit bathroom with great ceiling vent, huge showers with hot water and good pressure. The beds were comfortable and gave me a great night's rest after a day of travel. The city of Vigo is generally walkable and this hotel is near several shops and restaurants so it was a great location. We stayed here one night and then hit the Camino de Santiago the next morning. Great place to come for business or pleasure. I was on a business trip and came through in November 2017. Coming from another NH Collection this hotel was recommended to me after I already booked it, so I knew that I probably made a good choice (though I generally have a good experience in NH hotels). The customer support person/concierge Marcos is very professional, courteous, and knows the area in and around Vigo very well. Anything I inquired about he gave very detailed answers and really helped point out places of interest to me. The location is quite central and both the area with the restaurants and bars as well as the water are within walking distance. Parking is either on the street or in one of the many parking garages, one being within 75 feet of the hotel entrance and with access to the hotel via elevator. Room was clean, included a full minibar and a safe as well as a sufficiently spacious bathroom and closet. Breakfast was more than sufficient. European hotels in general have a breakfast that is in no way comparable with what we have to endure as customers in the US or Canada. More healthy options and great pastries and bread, whereas in the US even in the most expensive hotels the breakfast isn't anywhere near as good as this. I traveled to this hotel by motorcycle and the hotel staff was helpful in pointing out places to park along the street (as parking garages are kind of a pain with a motorcycle, or can be) and made me feel comfortable that the bike is safe where I am parking it. In my opinion it is difficult to find a hotel with a better value. I payed only about $110 for a hotel room, breakfast and courteous service that I would easily pay $250 for in the US. It may have been that it was out of season and nothing big was happening in Vigo at the time, but I find that to be a very good price for what you get. read more
