This pandemic has me dreaming. I'm dreaming that this pandemic will become a thing of the past and…read moreinternational travel will return to how it once was. I'm dreaming of finding a secluded picturesque spot in northwestern Spain where I can kick back, sip on vino tinto, and watch the sunset over the countryside. I'm dreaming of Pazo de Sedor. Pazo de Sedor is a hotel in Arzúa set in a 17th century manor for Francisco Gonzalez do Vilar, lawyer of the royal court of the Kingdom of Galicia. And it's beautiful! It's got antique furniture and castle-like charm. Walk in and you'll be welcomed by homey (yet regal) living rooms and a wide staircase leading to the spacious living quarters. Though a bit far from The Camino, Pazo de Sedor makes for a fine stay if you're looking for an upgrade over the usual albuergues. __Amenities__ -Clean private rooms and bathrooms: They are quite spacious, and some have balconies. The beds are comfy. While there was a TV screen, I did not have service. That's fine with me. I'd rather enjoy the moment and gaze out one of the windows in my corner room to watch the wind blow through the adjacent cornfields (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pazo-de-sedor-sedor?select=xBWc250lQroru5fJidjlJA). -Breakfast and dinner service: The food is quite good here! Plenty of wine and orujo too. The breakfast spread was also quite impressive. There was an assortment of meats, cheeses, juices, yogurt, and bread. I was ready to hit the trail the next morning! -There is a pool on premises along with a tennis court. -Laundry service: Want your clothes professionally laundered? They are fairly quick. -Bicycle rentals are available. -Parking: If you're here and not actually walking The Camino, parking is available. -Free wifi: It's called "we fee" in Spain. Free internet is available on premises, but it's stronger in the common areas (i.e. the living room across from reception). __Extra Info__ -Service was excellent! Every staff member working the reception desk spoke English. Everyone was friendly. -Walk around the grounds! I cannot stress enough how beautiful it is here. -Refrain from asking for coffee during dinner service (before dessert). After walking 14 miles that day, I was feeling exhausted come dinner time (which is much later in Spain). I requested a coffee during dinner so that I could stay awake during the whole service. The staff member looked shocked as if I told her Christmas was cancelled! lol Pazo de Sedor is a lovely place to stay and you'll be hard-pressed to find finer accommodations. Consider them if you are looking for a place to stay around Arzúa.
