We hired him to inspect a home we were truly interested in. I had my concerns about a hump in the…read morefloor of the hallway and asked him to really look into that. After his inspection, he handed us a binder which appeared to have lots of papers in it. He said there were some minor issues that he felt should be addressed before our purchase and gave us his assurance other than the minor things it all looked good. As home buyers, we are not knowledgeable in this field thus the reason we hire a professional. So we paid for his services therefore we put trust in his capabilities of his professionalism and ethics. 3 and 1/2 years later as we are looking into remodeling our home and update somethings. We are told that our foundation is completely off, I am talking main beams being cut and mostly hanging off the pillars. We then hired an engineer and another contractor to verify and we are told the same thing then as well. Our home is sloping and cracking. All of this was built this way, something any professional should have seen. The engineer was appalled when reviewing our inspection report which was the binder as mentioned before. The actual report was less than 10 pages. Most reports are 50+. We reviewed this items it on his computer so we did assume the same information was all in the binder. Now he has refused any liability, of course and stating that there is no way to tell if the damages were done after we moved. I have clearly told him that we have the engineers report and even sent that to him. But as per normal these days, people have chosen to practice unethical work habits and not accepting accountability. Do your research people before you hire someone, cause it does not mean you still won't get left with a $30,000 mistake to clean up.
