That's the only True Row…read more Truro is a lovely little windswept train station down in the southwest and actually gets a pretty decent amount of traffic, especially considering it's in a part of the country that doesn't get a lot of people. I love coming to Truro railway station and it's a lovely little town. Also if you need to get to Falmouth then this is where you would change trains after coming down from Bristol.

Services run to the North East With Crosscountry trians, and the North West with a change at Birmingham New Street. There are plenty of services running from the station, with local services stopping at St ausell, and Redruth. Crosscountry trains have a limited service as most trains only stop at the large towns and cities, however there are infreqent services which stop here. The station is located towards the west of the town, and has a ticket office to purchue tickets to all stations in the uk.

Penzance railway station is the end of the line - and a very long line at that. If you're coming in from Bristol or even London, this is your final Terminus. Which is weird because there's plenty of land west of here that isn't really covered. My visits to Penzance (2 by rail, 1 by road) have been mystical and memorable. It's beautiful down here and it feels like the end of the world. Penzance is very much worth a visit. A port town and an old Cornish town. It's a lovely little town and it has a nice and definitely adequate railway station. I'll probably keep coming here in future as well, and will bring people here with me in future. It has a beautiful large red roof and looks like a much bigger station than you'd expect in a smaller town like Penzance. It is the southernmost station in the UK. The longest direct train in the UK is Aberdeen to Penzance which can take over 14 hours and takes more than 12 at the best of times. See, the UK is a little bigger than you thought? And you know what else is bigger than you thought? Yeah.

It's probably easier being an end of the line station (as this station has been for over 150 years…read morenow!). There is only one direction in and one direction out. This makes for quite a simple station, which I bet is appreciated by travelers. Certainly beats the chaos of a city station. Great location, as you pull into Penzance, alongside the sea, with St Michael's mount in the distance. Its's certainly a prime location with the sea one side and the main shopping street on the other. Plenty of parking around too. If you want to keep your eye open for a train, a nearby hotel has a webcam that points out onto the station platforms.

The station café is quite nice too. Can't imagine there is another place so small, this far from London, that has so many services to London. I had never heard of St Erth before having to change here, but it has a really good website (http://www.st-erth.co.uk/home.html) (putting the nearby popular holiday destinations to shame) and the people living here seem to really like it. I do find having to change here annoying mind you, when travelling between 2 bigger towns, but that's the way the rail is set up in this part of the world.

It's great that this town has a railway station and it connects directly to the rest of Cornwall and Devon and also to the country at large. It's one of those cute little British Railway stations that I love visiting whenever I'm in this part of the country. Yes I admit it, I'm a weirdo, I visit all the railway stations when I'm traveling in Europe... both on trains, or even if I'm driving. Or hell, cycling! So... It's right in the middle of town, with a massive bridge over the river towering above the platforms in the background, which makes for a spectacular view and causes me to give it an inevitable 5 star rating.

I know where most of the Modern Family characters were born, but where was Camborne?…read more This is a great railway station in Camborne not far from Redruth, and I've been here twice, both times when on holiday down in the South West of England, which is what most people come down here for, if you don't live here or have family here. It's a lovely part of the country and it's a lovely little town, and it's a great railway station as well. Actually one of the better ones in the county. It feels more rural and rugged than some stations, a little bit more in the middle of nowhere, but it's a pretty major station and some of the trains that stop here actually continue on all the way to Birmingham and Leeds and Manchester and even Scotland.

St Ives is the cutest little country train station, when you catch the two carriage diesel from St…read moreErth and come chugging along around the cliffs beside the ocean, as the train begins to slow down the whole of St Ives opens up to you and you get the most beautiful view. There's not much at the station, but pop out the gates and the beach is right in front of you with its own little cafe. Sometimes there are sand sculptures in the summer, and you can have a nice picnic on the grass and then cool down in the water. Town is only a short ten minute walk from the station, and there is reliable car parking, although you have to pay.

It is right near the bus stop, so convenient for changes. The location is great, with a beautiful view over the sea and sand. You will enjoy a similar view for most of the journey to St Erth (apart from some swampland towards the end). I'd avoid the kiosk at the St Ives station mind you. They are overpriced at the best of times, but this one was ridiculously expensive. Another down point is the fact that there was no-one at the ticket window to begin with when I arrived. I had to wait for a couple of minutes for someone to come out of a back room. I guess nature called.
