Instead of teachers being flexible to meet child where they are at children are told to meet teachers teaching style. My child found 2 out of 6 instructors inpatient and hard to learn from. Whe administration was approached by both myself and child I was told they would "talk" to teacher. My child eventually after advocating repeatedly had a verbal escallation yelling and cussing. They did not follow BIP during this (I was listening via phone) and asked me to keep her home till contact wi district was made 5 days later they told district they could not support her. They screwed up and threw her away! If your child fits the narrow profile they are looking for it's a wonderful school if not they do not have flexibility. Search elsewhere

My husband and I came to at official tour. They wouldn't tell us anything about the cost of…read moretuition, nor could anyone tell us if any of the teachers had specific training or experience working with our son's learning differences. Instead, they wanted us to schedule an intake meeting with our entire family to plan out our son's schedule. (Without any idea if the cost was something we could afford, or if they had anyone who could teach him.) I asked that someone call me to answer those two basic questions before we scheduled an intake meeting, and then followed up myself with multiple calls. No one ever called me back. I have since heard from other families that tuition for Yellow Wood is in the neighborhood of $50k per year for a full-time program, and that unlike other 1-1 programs, students must attend a set number of in-school hours before getting credit for a class, even if they have already completed that subject's entire curriculum. As one of the main advantages of 1-1 schooling is the ability to learn at your own pace, this requirement, if true, would be highly counter productive for students (though it would bring in more cash to Yellow Wood). I still don't know if there are teachers there who know how to work with students like my son. Zero stars for communication and transparency. (Why isn't tuition listed on the website?!) Two stars overall because we had no experience with the actual teaching and cannot fairly rate it.

She's built such strong bonds with…read moreher classmates, and we've seen how much those friendships actually help her in the classroom. When they hit tough topics--like some of the more advanced math concepts--having that supportive group of friends keeps her motivated and makes the challenges feel much more manageable. We also really value how the school handles social growth. When a conflict came up, the teachers and the principal didn't just 'fix' it; they helped her develop a real strategy for resolution and taught her how to navigate things in the future. It gave her so much confidence. Most importantly, we love that the school is centered on God and faith. Seeing her so excited to talk about Jesus after chapel is a huge blessing to our family. It's a wonderful, supportive community and we're so glad to be part of it.

Although located in Bellevue, the ECS community is refreshingly down-to-earth and welcoming. As a parent, I deeply appreciate the teachers' attention to detail and commitment to each student's success. For example, if a second assignment is missed, teachers proactively reach out and keep us informed about our child's progress. Each of our children is known and valued as an individual. They are seen, supported, and encouraged in their own unique ways. ECS is a special place--what we lovingly call "God's little school on the hill." I hope it continues to thrive and bless families in our community for many years to come.

Our review is for the Parent Education Program and children's classes Creative Arts Lab and Family…read moreInventors Lab. Although the program for had to go entirely online due to the pandemic, it's been fabulous. The parent educators are engaging, caring and non judge mental. The children's teachers are kind, well spoken and are incredibly thoughtful and imaginative. They have worked so hard to provide an excellent experience for the kids. The projects are fun and interesting, all lessons or labs each week are accompanied by songs, books, visual examples and just a lot of fun. The kids get to share and that has felt so important for them to be able to have that interaction during a time when we have all been so isolated. I know some parents struggle having their kids on Zoom but ours love these lab style classes. They provide materials and everything. Totally worth every penny and overall it's pretty cost effective. We have to get a round of applause for these teachers because as parents, we just could not do this alone. Thank you for keeping this program alive and well online for all of us.

I worked in the Financial Aid department and am sharing my experience from an internal perspective…read more Federal financial aid is complex and highly regulated. During my time there, written procedures and standardized workflows were limited or inconsistently applied. I raised concerns about documentation, clear follow up practices, and transparent processing standards. I observed instances where internal delays and inconsistent follow up affected students' aid timelines. When communication is not clearly documented and tracked, students may be directed toward payment plans while still waiting for financial aid adjustments, increasing financial pressure. Special circumstance reviews and other high impact funding decisions would benefit from clearer documentation, transparent criteria, and broader representation in decision making. Consistency and accountability are critical when students' funding is involved. I also experienced limited tolerance for diverse communication and cognitive styles. A more structured and inclusive environment would better support both staff and students. Financial aid requires precision, documentation, and equity. Stronger procedural standardization and inclusive leadership would improve student outcomes.
