I'm not sure whether the Australia Post outlet is part of the newsagency - it's in the same shop,…read moreso I'm assuming it's connected - therefore, I've reviewed both together. First, the newsagent - I come here usually for stationery bits and pieces, for also for printer cartridges - they are seriously cheaper than anywhere else I have visited! I buy Canon cartridges, and they are at least $3-$5 cheaper than larger supermarket chains - excellent value! Staff are friendly, and there is a good selection of stationery and magazines. A good all-round newsagency! Now ... the reason I've given a total of 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 - the Australia Post section is terrible. Rude staff, who did the whole 'looking me up and down and grimacing' routine before serving me ... oh, that was before they had a chat and made me wait before looking up. I would rather drive out of my way and visit a friendlier Australia Post outlet - hopefully this couple retire soon :P

You've got all the usual aisles of mags and cards, as well as stationery, gift wrap and a decent pressie section. You've also got the standard SA Lotteries part, stocking my personal fave the $1 scratchies. As well there is a small Australia Post branch, which makes it very handy to mail your bits and pieces almost as soon as you've purchased them. There are only ever a couple post staff on though so there's often a line. On top of all this they also offer a dry cleaning service, and the bonus of extended trading hours on weekdays. In a nutshell - a damn good newsagent!

I love that it has maintained its old world charm and now offers a wide variety of gourmet food lines in addition to grocery items all priced to match Woolworths - "no ridiculous markups here," the women told me. There is a cafe menu and a casual room out the back where you can eat in. The woman advised they're in the process of applying for a license to offer meals here at night. She also said the hot dogs and burgers where the best in in town. I can't speak from experience (and I'm guessing she's a little biased), but I would definitely given them a try next time we're passing through. When I mentioned that I was a regular at the age of 10 and used to buy a $1 bag of lollies there in the 1980s, she whipped out a bag (albeit smaller than I remembered) and said they still sell them. Great service and a lovely location. Definitely worth stopping in here if you're ever driving past.

The lovely woman who runs the business uses the shop to run art classes in painting, drawing and sculpture. She runs short holiday classes for beginners as well as mentoring more advanced students. At the front of the shop she displays and sells her own work along with many of her students' pieces. The work is bright and vibrant, and much of it is on a beach or sea life theme. Every piece is worth a good look at, and the range of styles is fantastic, giving you lots to choose from and admire. This certainly isn't like browsing a gallery of work that is all the same. The feeling of the shop is scattered and organic. It sells small statues and metal sculptures. Standing by the door is the life sized statue of a cow, painted in bright floral patterns. There is definitely lots to see here. The owner spends a lot of time on her community art programs, so it's a wonderful place to pop into now and again to get a little print out of her upcoming classes, as well as to see the new pieces she and her students have made.
