Utter Cowboys to a point I genuinely thought you would not see in this day and age and in these…read moreparts. Bought a car from them and also had a number of problems, some of which they said would be sorted before I took ownership of the car and were not. 3 warning lights, including the engine check light, displayed at one point but this was within the 3 month warranty so took it back (not the only time it went back I might add, see below). Car was returned, without any sort of receipt for the work also, without the warning lights showing but noted that these lights were not showing on the pre-ignition checks. I brought it back to complain but was assured there were no problems and the engine check would come on if there was a problem. Fast forward 7 months and the engine failed catastrophically, the repair of which would out weight the value of the car. I initially tried to broker some sort of deal but they were not receptive to this so I decided to break the car to get some value out of it. At this point having sold the instrument cluster I was emailed by the buyer to ask why a LARGE AMOUNT OF BLACK SILICON had been injected into the cluster over the exact 3 warning LEDs that caused me to put it back for repair in the first place. Absolutely livid. They have been unwilling to offer any form of refund and rude in their approach to such a serious and clearly illegal activity. The car had clearly been poorly serviced, if at all, before I received it and how it got through an MOT with the faults I have now found is borderline criminal. As detailed below some areas that should have been looked at during a service clearly were not. Even the wiper blades were woeful (to a level that would fail an MOT) and they didn't even bother to sort that. Other reasons the car went back during the warranty period: Fuel breather pipe descended so it was protruding out from under the bumper. Now the car has been partially dismantled I can see they 'fixed' this not by remounting it properly but instead cutting it shorter to it wouldn't stick out. Horrendous noise coming from offside rear brake. Turns out this was a shim that was contacting the disc which is a £5 for a set part (I know because I went and bought some after the warranty had expired and 3 visits had not sorted it) and 5 minutes work for someone that knows what they are doing. From what I and the AA man who came out to fix a related problem (see below) saw the rear disc/drum (disc for main braking and an inner drum for the handbrake pads) had not been off the car in some considerable time, despite the car having been 'MOT'd and serviced'. Both rear disc/drums have shoes on the inside for the handbrake which should be kept in place with a retaining pin and a clip. This had instead been replaced by a couple of washers, a bolt and a nut because the place where the retaining pin sits had been ripped off at some point. This allowed the whole thing come loose, float around and make an almighty racket. AA called out twice for this, one call for each side. From evidence presented this looks like it was prior to Westhill Cars ownership but as a responsible garage that again was supposed to have 'MOT'd and serviced' the car this is a pretty bad bodge to let go by, if they even saw it (re. it didn't look like the drum had been off in quite a while). Brought this to the attention of the garage but got stonewalled with "that's not covered by the warranty". Plastic engine covers under the car came loose; these were cable tied all over the place as a repair. I could continue with more information but you probably get the idea. Trading standards have been contacted along with a couple other authorities and legal proceedings have begun. If you are lucky enough to get a well looked after car and you service it yourself immediately after purchase you might be okay, but if you have a problem in any shape or form you will be completely out in the cold.
