Although the 'spa' next door which was more of a quiet small lesuire centre did bring it down abit. The hotel is a Hilton but not like any Hilton ive been in before maybe due to the ruralness of the location. Me and my partner went here the day before we were to go on our honeymoon. So we did select honeymoon as the occassion when booking online, but we didnt notice any difference from selectin that option. When asking at the reception no one knew what we were talking about. Even though it stated on our confirmation it was a honeymoon booking. Reception staff we're friendly had were given a hot cookie on arrival which was a nice touch, we got into our room but noticed it hadn't been cleaned properly and looked as if someone had been sat on bed and had a half drank cup of coffee of the side. So went back to reception as changed rooms which was fine. The room was really nice aswell which over looked the front of the house. Although the window did brake slighlty when trying to shut. We had free access the gym and pool next door which we used but as it was open to the public didnt seem so relaxing as it should. Breakfast was Buffett style which was really nice. It was based in the up market resturant linked to the hotel. It was all fresh and good quality. Overall the hotel is really nice just the little things that let it down!

Half of the hotel is the original building and the other is a modern extension, which is a bit of a shame as it looks a bit odd. Rooms are spacious and have everything you would expect from a high end hotel. But probably the best thing about this hotel is it's wonderful spa. They really have gone all out and provided customers with ultimate luxury and relaxation. Prices are a little high, but for a one off special I reckon it's worth it. There is also a well equipped gym which is worth using as it's included in your hotel stay. The hotel is also situation in stunning grounds. If you are lucky enough to get a nice enough day, it's well worth walk around the hotel's grounds as they have kept the gardens looking very nice.

Guests can expect to find superior facilities for what is essentially a budget-range hotel. The car park was ample, conveniently close to the hotel, and free. The reception staff throughout my stay were attentive and welcoming, without being contrived or strained. During check-in all necessary information was explained clearly and I was presented with several dining options. Bar snacks and pizza are available in the hotel and the nearby Filton Retail Park has numerous dining establishments (in addition to a pub next door to the hotel). At the time of my visit a promotion was available which entitled hotel guests to a 20% discount in the nearby Frankie & Benny's restaurant. A breakfast buffet was included in the rate and featured varied options to cater for most tastes. Continental and Full English items were available, in addition to various juices and hot beverages. The bar area in which breakfast was served benefitted from several large televisions showing the BBC News Channel and as I was travelling alone I took particularly comfort knowing there was something with which to keep myself occupied while dining. The bedroom was extremely clean and tidy, featuring contemporary furnishings with almost everything required for a short trip. A television with a DVD player would have been advantageous, but its absence is understandable considering the type of hotel. Wi-Fi was also included in the rate and although it could be intermittently slow it was highly appreciated. An option was available to upgrade the speed of Wi-Fi. A kettle was on a shelf tucked under the television with a range of tea and coffee options. The television was modern, large and featured all of the usual Freeview channels in addition to guest services. The bathroom, although small, was not cramped. Like the rest of the room, the bathroom was sparklingly clean and tidy. The double bed, although possibly a little cramped for two, was perfect for the lone traveller. The choice of both foam and feather pillows was convenient and the soft duvet was just the right tog for December temperatures. Throughout my visit the hotel was peaceful and quiet, and due to the comfortable environment I was completely satisfied with my quality of sleep. Air conditioning and heating was available and easily managed by the in-room controls, although I didn't leave it running for too long as it had a tendency to rattle. The sofa bed was a pleasing addition to this room and although I did not use it as a bed I can confirm the sofa part was comfortable and spacious. Of this particular type of hotel, this is the best I have had the pleasure of visiting. Due to the low price of my stay and the overall high quality of the facilities I would definitely stay again if necessary.

I'm a member at the health club here and I love it…read more It's not all new, shiny machinery but the place is huge and has all the equipment you could need. The main gym area is split into cardio, weights, floor mats and a quiet area so there is an area for most people to feel comfortable to work in. They have an indoor and outdoor pool, again, its not the prettiest or modern looking pool but it has everything you need. Generally, the gym is not that busy. I tend to go there in the evening time but I have been in the day and at weekends. They offer classes there as well, I've only ever been to one of the classes and I didnt really enjoy it. Having experienced classes at gyms like Fitness First, they have a long way to go to rival them. The staff are lovely and welcoming, particularity Andre. He takes time to get to know your name and ask you how you're doing, which I don't tend to find in chain gyms. For those of you looking for a bit of a pamper, they have saunas, steam rooms and a bar area that serves a range of food, drink and has a tv for sports nights. We attented the bonfire night event they held in 2010 and it was brilliant. The fireworks were one of the best shows I've ever seen and they had a huge bonfire! Membership is very competitive compared to gyms like David Lloyd. I'd recommend this gym to anyone looking for somewhere to work out in Bristol.

Over the bridge things go a bit up market. Lots of big houses that when I had a paper round (long…read moreago) were a pain to deliver too, drives about a mile long. In amongst these and the private school rugby pitches is Redwood Lodge. They've got excellent facilities. The outdoor pool gets chaotic in the summer months, full of little kids jumping in a the deep end. You can have a proper swim at the indoor pool. The gym's good. I'd be satisfied with less bells and whistles at a cheaper council one though, not sure why it's worth spending any extra money and the hassle of getting out here. They have a couple of bars and do functions. Wouldn't recommend it for a wedding or a birthday party. It feels like they're trying to get you in, get you out, and get their hands on your money. It's next to Ashton Court, so if you're actually interested in getting some exercise (rather than being a gym poser, which Redwood Lodge does have quite a few of) then there's a good cycle route here from Clifton going across the suspension bridge. Redwood Lodge is a touch exclusive and has the facilities to match.
