My name is Melissa Marra. I was recently at newcomers funeral home for my godchild Brielle Marie Capasso. It was the upmost worst experience of my entire life. Her father and her uncle went there to make the funeral arrangements. Which is probably the hardest thing they ever had to do. My self and her uncle went back on the second day to confirm arrangements and bring her clothing. The first day they were taken care of by a gentleman names Chris, the second day we were taken care of by a women which I do not recall her name. As we were going over everything, the women had no clue what we were talking about, such as her flowers and Mass cards. And most importantly the way her hair needed to be done. She explained to us there was nothing written down, no notes taken. It felt more like we were there to buy a car then to put this child to rest. We gave in detail how her make up was to be done, how her hair was to be done, and her clothing. The women I spoke to took notes about everything we spoke of and said that she would be sure everything would be taken care of. We get to the funeral home the day of the wake. It started off when we walked in, we couldn't even see her body in the casket. They had her laying there like they just tossed her in and said okay let's put the show on. There was no pillow, her body was not arched. Her hands were not in a praying position with rosaries. Instead her hands were at her hips with the rosary laying across her. When her mother went up the casket and said why are her hands not positioned to the gentleman Chris. He said I'll take care of it right now. Instead of asking us to leave for a few moments to address the situation. He did it in front of all of us. When her mother walked back up to the casket she watched her baby girls hands slide back down to her waist. Her hair was nothing like we asked. It was as if they washed it and left it to dry. They did not doing anything that was specifically told. Her make up looked like it was left over 3 day make up on her face. The bruises on here hands left from the hospital were untouched, in clear sight. Never covered. Her heels that she loved so much were supposed to be displayed in her coffin with her. When I asked the director that night where were her shoes. He said "I'm so sorry, I will have them out for her tomorrow". Which they were never displayed the next day. The praying hands that were supposed to be displayed for her Were never displayed. The flowers they had us order threw them were shameful and small. Some were even broken. No one made a scene cause we remembered why we were there. What we didn't realize till hours after being at the service, that were all the other flowers that other people had sent, were not even in the room she was laid out in. They were in another room as if they were for someone else. The family demanded they be brought in with her. The next day came, time for the funeral service. As her mother stood up there crying her heart out coming to reality that she just lost her child. The gentleman Chris approached her, and said "we have to make a move on this now". No one was asked to have privacy for the parents and family, to have their last moments with Brielle. They made it more like a circus were the shows over. As I went up to the casket to say my goodbyes Chris removed the pillow that was placed on her side from her nephews he plopped it on top of her and when I looked up as to what he was doing, with a heartless face he took the blanket that covered her and put it on the side of her face covering her when her parents didn't even say good bye yet. As they took her body out, cars were not lined up. No one was directed on where to go. The hearse just sped off and everyone jumped in their cars attempting to follow and keep up. Many of us being from New Jersey didn't have a clue where we were going. In my opinion Newcomers Funeral home should shut the doors and never be opened again. They are inhuman and should be ashamed of themselves. Parents just lost there child and all the funeral home thought about was just getting us in and getting us out. Maybe that's why they have that disgusting name newcomers. Rest In Peace Brielle Marie. read more
