Abby is a hospitality natural, and also makes a bloody good fruit bun for the full British breakfast.
Where to start.....well the bed was Ideal for sleep, carnal meanderings and newspaper reading as one might hope for, it was also a king size and covered with a 100% goose down duvet and excellent pillows. Our room covered the whole top floor and in the attic you had loads of space, and excellent roll top bath under the skylight with a separate shower that would wake you up after a great nights snoozing.
A point of difference as we were there in the Spring, fresh flowers from the garden, mostly tulips but the sort of tulips you see in magazines. Three vases all thoughtfully arranged. A small fridge contained fresh milk....how I hate those little plastic packs. And there was not a coffee pod to be seen (brilliant as they are so Eco-unfriendly) but there was a small coffee press with great coffee, and being a tea drinker myself I loved the large selection of tea. A home made biscuit sat tempting me....for about 39 seconds!
Breakfast was a cooked to order selection of what ever you wanted and also a selection of home made preserves, local yogurts and muesli. Fresh fruit compote laden with blackcurrants and great toast...getting the drift are you?
On to the hostess Abby, a more charming charismatic person you could not wish to meet. She had opinions that made one want to chat, she had height that made one look up and she had passion for the craft of innkeeping.
If you want a standard room in a standard hotel with a standard coffee pod machine.....do not stay here. if you want a stay you may remember, and a soak in a tub lit with complimentary candles, hosted by a knowledgeable chicken fancier then this is the place for you. All this for around 100quid a night if you book direct and cut Air B n B and it;s commissions.
Oh and by the way asking her about foxes and peeing.....you'll be educated! read more
