We enjoyed our visit, we both preferred it here than commonwealth pool or the WHEC as it is far less busy, and easy enough to get to by public transport, right on the beach promenade, it's a great location. This pool provide water toys and floats which we had lots of fun with but I must make you aware that the showers although partitioned are shared with both male and females and male attendants on duty but this wasn't a problem for me or my niece but it might make some people uncomfortable. Also, make sure you bring change for the locker because they don't have cash only card payment. It's handy to know that there are Turkish baths here too and a sauna but these must be pre- booked. All in all we had lots of fun and will definitely be returning again soon!

I have to confess that I've never ventured into the pool despite being the owner of an Edinburgh Leisure membership for the last 2.5 years.... The building itself is lovely & old. it's fair to say that some bits have withstood the test of time better than others. The best thing about it though is the cafe on the first floor. It's at the front, has lots of windows making it light & airy & more importantly, gives great views of the beach. I love sitting up there with a pot of tea & a freshly baked scone watching the waves crash onto the beach. They serve generous portions of the brekkie stuff. Their bacon rolls are generously stuffed & very filling, scrambled eggs are fluffy & come piled high on mounds of toast but my favourite is their home baking. I'm a sucker for a good scone. They do fab scones which are always fresh from the oven. Perfect after a run along the Prom. In fact their scones are the reason I run along the Prom. There's nothing like the promise of a reward to make me get out of bed on a Saturday morning & go for a run.

A substantial amount of thermal/water amenities, all of which feel very sanitary/maintained. I wish I was able to schedule a massage - however, it is completely understandable I couldn't squeeze in an appointment the day of. I felt completely relaxed after my appointment! My only note is that the aroma mist in the salt room did not seem to work (this may have been user error). Additionally one of the showers in the locker room was not in service. Definitely recommend booking here if you are looking for a relaxing day!

Mind you they can be quite pricey, but this has all got to do with the image their trying to project, as well as the various treatments they offer. As usual I haven't heard of most of them, but was particularly curious about the rainforest shower. Thankfully, I have a friend who has actually been to the Amazon (they come in REALLY handy!) and basically it's a room with showerheads all over the ceiling, so it seems as though it's raining in the room. Ofcourse if you'd rather just have a facial and a massage, they do that as well. They've got two pools, one of which is thermal, and a gym for those who'd rather "feel the burn" than relax, though I'd rather get in the sauna when there's that alternative.

After this wild workout everyone got a little paper bag full of tuck shops sweets, it was great! After the ice-skating my dad usually took us to the swimming pool, the river rapids were my favourite part and I could swim here for hours. I particularly remember the scary red dragon statue and the cave men who looked down on your when you were swimming round the pool, one of them was wielding a spear which I have to admit, was a little bit scary. They also have a huge play area with ball pools, slides, climbing walls - it just looks amazing. Unfortunately, my parents never let me go here and I feel that I've missed out. At the moment the play area pool is closed for major refurbishment, who knows what it will look like when it's finished? I think I might take a trip back soon for good old times sakes. A fantastic day out for all the family!

You may know that the Royal Commonwealth pool is closed until 2070 or something like that, and it was there I had planned to get my necessary daily exercise (it's literally right next to the student Pollock Halls of Residence). So that was a fail.. That aside, the Warrender Pool is quite impressive, and it knows so, as you'll find a little boast of the its Victorian design in any literature to do with the pool. It's about £4 for a single swim pass, but what cracks me up is that they charge you an extra £1.20 if you want to have a shower... capitalism at it's best I say. However, I shopped around, and decided to join the Virgin Active Gym on Leith Walk, so I could have a little more variety, but if you're solely interested in swimming, they've got a pretty good membership deal.

And it's perfect. It's a really attractive gym, with everything I need. The cardio room looks out on the street (and lets me keep an eye on my bike locked out the front), then there's a machine and free weights area, and finally my favourite bit - a mats/ kettlebell/ suspension training area. That's in what was the Turkish steam room, so it's a cosy little spot with a lovely, complex arched ceiling to look up at. Get your trainers on and get over there - see you on the treadmills!

They are a despicable conglomerate - bought…read moreand sold dozens of times money money money .. but its all about your health and well being isn't it ??? Due to the lack of decent private gyms in Edinburgh they get away with the profiteering and pretty poor experience in relation to the fees. Sycophantic management on a mass scale .. only care about taking your money steer clear give your money to the local authority gyms or other independents ! This club is Very poorly run by incompetent passive aggressive management who turn a blind eye to real problems and hide in offices plonking away on a keyboard writing pathetic nonsense about their members. Staff come and go through a revolving door. However, ok facilities and kept pretty clean although this has deteriorated over the years.. Lounge area is nice to sit in but as others comment is not somewhere you would go to relax or have a quiet coffee as it's always full of children bawling and running around. Unfortunately they have a monopoly on indoor tennis courts which hopefully will change in the future. Tennis wise - you can also never get a court due to coaching and kids tennis unless you can get in during lunchtime. At over £144 for 1 full peak adult per month - Not worth it unless you want to live there. Apparently you can't use the new club in Danderhall as it's an Elite one yet this club is a premier ... they're even inventing new ways to make their crap clubs sound more exclusive. This is in part ruined by their constant 2 week deals throughout the year , you ask yourself why am I paying all this when people can use these deals over and over and not forgetting the 3 months notice period meaning a full racket member will pay £1738 per year and 3 months to cancel - During the school holidays (Easter, summer etc..) they always run promotions so forget relaxing by their outdoor pool as it's Scottish Butlins ! All this is fine I guess but they don't tell you this when you sign up , it's not really an adult environment more for families. Long gone are the days where it was an inspiring environment for youngish professionals/ adults it's a glorified, over priced, underwhelming leisure centre. Gym is just ok- it isn't very big and can feel busy with only a handful of people in it , and certainly is not worth the fee , your also not buying into some sort of better gym etiquette, if anything it's one of the worst I've witnessed people sitting on there phones , lost count of the amount of TikTok videos I'm on without my consent ! Most other local gyms have just as good machines and weights and some have a lot more at a fraction of the price, with same or better etiquette. Changing facilities and toilets are completely inadequate for a place of this size and it's membership. Gym staff pour over you if pay for PT sessions otherwise ignore you and all the people sitting on their phones for ages as well as other behaviour.. Don't do anything to enforce rules and for this reason you'd be as well joining a budget gym as the managers are certainly more in tune with members rather than their ego and being the top performing club ... ie ripping their members off the most. Regional manager is horrendous, bullies the staff hence the reason everyone leaves. Very very bizarre culture. Wish Esporta Virgin active/ Nuffield could take it over. I've was a member for 15 years and left overlapped with new membership at Nuffield and haven't needed to complain once in nearly 2 years.

I actually felt a little like I was in an American Movie when I walked into the gym (clearly I have been going to small gyms for far too long). I am not a member but was given a guest pass which I really enjoyed using, the gym was great, the pool was great (indoor and outdoor), sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi - need I go on. The one thing I did notice was that no one spoke to each other (unless they knew each other) which made it feel a little unfriendly. Despite all this I do think the prices are a little high, but then this kind of gym is aimed at people with money (in my opinion) having said that if I am ever in the position where I can afford £80 a month then I will definitely join too.

Despite this, I do think messing about in the pool is fun, and I was keen for the fun section of our swimming lessons, when we got to lark around slightly and swing on the rings that hang over the pool. Drumsheugh is interesting, in that it's the oldest private owned swimming club in Edinburgh and has retained a lot of its original, Victorian features. The club was founded in 1882, and still has rings and trapezes over the water, plus modern gym, sauna, and hot tub facilities.
