Membership to subscribers for the internet version is free. The print circulation of the Times Ledger Newspaper is also free. I rate Times Ledger four stars despite it's niche market there are a lot of local events missed out such as Flushing's annual Dragon Boat Festival, Brooklyn's Botantial Garden's Sakura Matsuri, etc.

My family are of traditional conservative Chinese ancestry and Sing Tao Daily enables us to be well informed of news and current world events. This newspaper is written in traditional Chinese characters. It does enable the reader subscriber a home away from home for the overseas Chinese. Home delivery has always been on point for four decades, with several delivery exceptions due to inclement dubious weather which prevent access.

We have a camera outside so we can confirm that the paper was not delivered inside our fence the days it was missing. Personally I think the driver just toss the paper out his window since I saw on the camera that on a few occasions the paper was kicked under our gate. When we call the paper a angry lady usually tell us that our gate is locked (we don't have a lock mechanism on the gate) and that's why he don't deliver the paper when the truth is that he just toss it out his window. I don't understand why the paper think they do us a huge favor deliver? They pay the delivery driver and we pay the paper so nothing is free and should not be treated as a favor.

Every teacher in the school would send home the monthly flier of books for sale. Since I loved to encourage reading I would buy at least three of the small paperback books each time. There was always a competition between classrooms to see which one had the most kids participating. When my second child started school I had to be fair and buy three books for each child so the classroom would get equal credit. Additionally the PTA held an annual Book Fair every Spring the same week as Open House. I put in my time with hosting that and also let my kids shop for a book or two from the Book Fair. Years later I once again became a customer of Scholastic Books when my grandson started school. It was run a little different because we had entered the tech era. I don't think the school got quite so involved, nor did the teachers have to be responsible for passing out each student's order. My recollection was it was online and once yearly held physically in the school. I sent my grandson a donation to spend at the in person Book Fair. I also purchased books of interest and had them shipped directly to my house to use as presents. Thanks Scholastic Books for providing a continual encouragement to past and future generations to continue reading! I still have many of the books in my personal library for little ones to read.

I've donated $25-30 to my teacher friends, which lets them purchase a take home book for each student in their classroom. Books can feel like a splurge, especially when budgets are tight - but when you can get one in the hands of a child, magic happens.

I like it mostly for the police blotter type stories which I find interesting and amusing unless it's a serious crime like assault and other felonies which I don't find interesting or amusing but makes me angry as hell. The Queens Gazette often announces events as the Saint Patrick's Day parade in Flushing and in The Rockaways. The well-designed search tool has many useful filters to chose from such as season, cooking method, time from start to finish. Anyone can open a free account to save favorite recipes to. This means you can also access member-submitted recipes. Users can submit recipe reviews which makes it very easy to see what problems you may run into or what substitutions/variations others made. There is also a blog and various forums for users which makes for good reading, even if you have no intention of making butter at home for example.
