Two thumbs way up!…read more This was my second trip to the Gorge and have been extremely pleased with the experience with Cascade Kiteboarding both times. While this is probably a sport that shouldn't be taken up once eligible for social security that didn't stop the instructors. The instruction from Nadia, Mel and Mike was right on point. Each brought encouragement, helpful individualized kiting tips, and enthusiasm to the lesson. Now that they got me making water starts, I am looking forward to more lessons with Cascade Kiteboarding to continue to progress on the water. Tons of fun.

Thank you Carlos and Spring for making this an amazing and rewarding kiteboarding experience. Kyle was my instructor and he was amazing! I had a few lessons in San Diego and La Ventana, but my experience at Kite the Gorge was the best. I made really good progress with their program (love the two way radio system!!!) and was able to enjoy this world class kiteboarding location in a safe and efficient manner. Initially intimidated by the traffic and location, I quickly realized Kite the Gorge, with it's unique location and top notch instructors, was the best kiteboarding school for me. The equipment was new with the latest in design and safety features. They were very good about making sure we were on the correct size kites and boards for the wind conditions and took care in making sure we were proficient in using the safety features built into the kite system. I am already planning my next trip to do more lessons with Kite the Gorge. Such an amazing sport. The culture and people involved are absolutely wonderful.

The offering, the professionalism, the quality and skill, the patience (I could write a paragraph about how patient Itzhak was to take my kids and work with each of them, drive the jet ski, control the kite, carry the foil...... oy vey!) Their location is tremendous and allows for lessons and an experience that feels intimate, less commercial, and attentive. We are so happy to have found Carlos and his team. Justin was very thorough with explanations of the surrounding environs and it seemed everything around. He pointed out different wildlife in the area and our group even saw a white bunny (in the wild). We also went looking with him for morel mushrooms on land (sadly, none found). The company provides most everything you need for a comfortable kayaking experience, (outer wear, life jacket, dry bag, two types of single kayaks, or double, paddles) included (refresher) instructions for paddling, and helpful tips, assistance and corrections throughout if needed. Even though it was a bit chilly (50s) windy and slightly misting, we stayed warm enough throughout. Would recommend waterproof shoes or watershoes (bring a change of shoes and socks for afterward). I haven't been on a mountain bike in many years but wanted to experience the mountain bike trails at Post Canyon. I have heard about this place as being one of the best mountain bike areas in the Country. I feel fortunate to have found HRMBA and, more specifically, Greg Galliano. He was wonderful in helping us have the most amazing experience as we rode through incredibly beautiful areas in the Post Canyon trail system. Greg knows this area very well and did an excellent job showing us the best trails for our level of experience. He can accommodate all levels of ability. Whether you are beginner, intermediate, or an experienced rider, this is definitely the way to go! We rode mountain bikes which were in new condition and had the latest in design and technology (loved the hydraulic brakes and dropper seatpost!!!). Greg was fantastic in offering a few tips here and there to help me be more efficient on the bike, which I really appreciate. Without a doubt, taking a guided tour with Greg was much better than we could have done on our own with rental bikes and a map. The trail system at Post Canyon is complex and he has local knowledge and resources to ensure an incredible experience for you. I'd have gone crazy having to repeat myself so much, but he was extremely encouraging and had each of us in the air within 10 minutes. It took some getting used to, but once I was in the air, it was absolutely unlike anything I'd done before. It was such a thrill to feel like I was actually flying around. Neil let the person who wasn't flyboarding tag along with him on the jet ski, and we were able to get some great shots just by using an iPhone in a watertight case. Cannot recommend this outing highly enough, and I'm excited to do it again!

A short, but pretty cool trail in BZ Corner along the White Salmon to a waterfall…read more We noticed this falls mentioned in an online article. Since we were hiking nearby, we decided to drop by and check it out. Clearly a popular drop-in site for rafters and kayakers, the day-use site has plenty of parking, as well as toilets. From the lot the trail starts off with a rail system to assist in sliding crafts down to the water. Pretty cool setup, I'd actually never seen this type of system. Once you reach the base of the cliffs, the hiking trail takes off to the left while the rails continue to the right and down to the water. The trail is an out and back about a 1/2 mile with various types of footing...planks, a boardwalk, rocks, and dirt...all fairly muddy right now. We also had to hopscotch through running water a couple times, nothing huge though. The trail runs between the cliffs and the river all the way, and with the waters running fast right now the sound was fabulous. It comes to an end on a platform overlooking a small falls in the river, as well as one coming over the cliff...the latter of which was pretty hidden in the brush and trees currently, but you can get a peek of it. There's actually a gate on the platform that allows you a bit more access to get a closer view of the falls. We got a bit muddy last weekend, but to be expected this time of year. The trail is quite pretty, with one exception at the end. Unfortunately someone has dumped a couple old tires over the cliff that settled just below the partially hidden falls off to the left of the viewing platform. Such a shame... Overall it's a short and easy hike for most any ability in a pretty river setting. Not too shabby... besides those tires. Grrrr.
