Stumbled upon these negative reviews so thought I drop one. I've lived in my New Tradition Home for almost 4 yrs now. During the first year I had zero issues with anyone coming out to make repairs and they were really minor things that went wrong. Most of my neighbors live in New Tradition homes between 7 and 10 yrs old and nobody has had any major problems. I stumbled on these reviews because I am looking to have a larger place made and came back to New Tradition. Don't judge this company based on internet reviews. Go look at a half built McBride and a half built New Tradition. Let that be the judge. If Jason says he can't or won't change a part of the house it's probably because it would weaken the house or drive the cost beyond what it would be worth when complete. read more

Poorly installed our driveway and was crumbling within 7 months of installation. We have had multiple other companies come look at it and all have said the same thing, it was poured too wet. We have been trying to get this fixed since January and have been blamed for the issue, lied to, and have been told we are being held to an owners manual that we NEVER received and since we asked for one a month ago we still haven't received one. read more

We are current homeowners of a New Traditions built home in Mascoutah IL. We paid nearly $250,000 for our home and we would like to share our experience with this company as we am coming to our 1 year anniversary and our warranty is about to run out. We entered into a contact to build our dream home in May 2013. We finally moved in at the beginning of October 2013. It took 5 months (through the good seasons - spring, summer and fall) to have our home built. It was not a custom home however we were able to make some changes - although we had to fight for some and we were told NO to some including a wall oven to make things easier as we get older, as he was not a custom builder (learning recently that he is now one). Nothing major has happened here, but the small things are overlooked by the company even after numerous phone calls and emails. Probably the only employee that has been helpful is the Sales Clerk. The Sales Consultant Sharon will take your phone call and listen to your issue sounding like she is listening but we get absolutely no feedback, or even that the message has been forwarded, after numerous calls about the same issue you MIGHT find out what is going to happen. The Foreman of the company will occasionally show up and have a look at the problem, attempt to fix it and sometimes will and other times either call in a contractor but we are still wondering if the job will be completely finished. The owner who you are unable to contact as the only numbers listed are the display home seems to be only in it for the money and does not seem to care that he has any unhappy residents (and we know of several) living in the homes he built. On numerous occasions WE have tried to contact him but were unable to. We are currently waiting for our sink cupboard (next to the dishwasher) to be fixed or replaced after our dishwasher leaked and now the base is all swollen. Our back yard near a home recently built was used as a "path" for that home. Now our grass which we pay a decent amount of money to keep looking good per home association rules is now dirt. A patch around 2 - 3 feet wide by around 10 - 12 long. We have spoken to Sharon concerning this around the 2nd week in Sept and as of today we still hadn't heard anything. I spoke with Savannah and she took notes and we know it will be passed onto Sharon and the foreman and We am interested to see if anything is done. I would think twice before have your dream home built by this company as getting things fixed or replace during your warranty is next to impossible. read more

From the beginning we had a lack of customer service. We had out home built in 2010. Approx. 1 week after moving in, our sewer main backed up into the basement. The company initially told us that they could come take a look, but we would have to pay for it, because we were apparently flushing items we were not supposed to. After many phone calls, they finally agreed to do the repair. Turns out whomever poured the basement had driven a spike directly through the sewer main, which was clogging our system. A couple of months later, we reported items such as numerous drywall cracks along seams (one of which was large enough that a quarter would fall through), vinyl flooring unsealing from the edge of the shower, back door, carpet came apart along the seam and in front of the fireplace. (fireplace stopped working after the 1st year), siding bulging out, attic HVAC leak, attic HVAC lines not connected completely, floors not "glued and screwed" resulting in massive creaks/squeaks. There are numerous other small items, but the significant one that we have been fighting years to have fixed, and still has not, are the few leaks in the basement. The "Watchdog Waterproofing" warranty that this company considers a selling point/feature is a total joke. I have water coming down the walls in the basement directly below the front and back door areas on the main floor, as well as directly in the middle of another wall where a piece of metal basement concrete reinforcement is located. Each company that offers a warranty (basement, siding, roof) all point to the other company as the one being at fault. The subfloor has turned to mush. We had storm doors installed which seemed to slow down those 2 leaks, but they are still there. If you want a builder who stands behind their homes and the subs they use, then this builder is not the one for you! I'm sure some of their workers are honest brokers and take pride in their work. The rest just run out the clock until it's quitting time. Customer service for any issues is non-existent. I believe it may be company policy to refuse to return phone calls. Even within our 1 year warranty period, they pushed off coming out or responding until they were able to tell us that even though we reported our issues within the 1 year timeframe, they couldn't make it out to do repairs until after the 12 month mark, so the repairs would not be covered under warranty and we would be responsible to pay them. We are currently building a home with New Traditions and their customer service is the worst. Sharon acts like she's listening to you but does not communicate your concerns or requests to the correct people, then tries to blame you for things not being done. As soon as you sign a contract, the friendly attitude goes out the window. When making selections, we were told that Jason doesn't like to do this or that or they no longer offer certain options, then make you feel like you're being difficult. Ben, the electrician has been the nicest and easiest to work with so far. Jason the owner is rude and only wants your money. Hoping the process gets a little easier, but due the lack of communication and customer service, I doubt it. Make sure to go with a builder who actually cares about your home and understands the process. We are spending a lot of money and they could care less. Very disappointed. read more
