When you arrive you pay for your stay in CASH. It is a place that is very quiet and those staying there should be quiet also. It is a religious place. It is not any one branded religion and they wont push any religion on you. There is a choral religious tape going on all day long. Its relaxing and makes it so those stay quiet. You can hear through the walls so please keep the sounds down. There is a fridge, stove and kitchen avail. Clean up your mess and NO MEAT is allowed. You can help yourself to breakfast foods. There is a hot pot of water all the time with teas below. There are three rooms and 2 shared bathrooms. They keep the place very clean. Your in the East Village. The 2nd Ave subway stop is nearby. Its a small line with only one train. There are plenty of eating options all around. You will have a front door key so you can come and go as you wish, There is no curfew. Just please be QUIET if you come in late. Or anytime for that matter. On days they feed those in need, MON WED FRI, they do this from around 900am to 1130am. You can volunteer to join them and you should! I would suggest this for single folks or those that can keep conversation to a minimum. I would not recommend it for children. I chose this place myself as my 8th great grandfather obtained approx 60 blocks back in 1652 here and this was in the center of his farm. I wanted to stay "on the farm" and especially on ground level, not in a high rise. So I did! My reason was an adventure in family history. I paid $125.00 a night plus taxes and fees or $297.50 for 2 nights. If this is in your price range and you think you could enjoy a quiet type of place like this do check it out!

My friend wanted to eat and I didn't have a lot of money so we shared a pizza. She picked the toppings. Many times I'm a people pleaser. I just don't want to get into an argument and will comply with the wishes of others pretty easily if I am okay with it so I let her pick the toppings. I should've looked into the reviews on all platforms before making reservations. It shows, what looks like professional Hawaiian performers on the flyer. So we decided to take her daughter as a surprise and thought it would be a great night to sit by the beach. Have dinner and watch the show. The price for a buffet dinner and the show is $59.95 for adults and $29.95 for kids 12 and under. Now I didn't mind paying the price because I thought even if the food wasn't going to be so good, at least the show would make up for it. CONS/CONS AND MORE CONS: Unfortunately this flyer was very deceiving. The show was not by any means performed by the people they advertised on the flyer. The amateur performance was definitely not what we expected. The food was worse. They had a grilling station with shrimp and pineapple chicken. The only edible thing was the shrimp and grilled pineapple. The chicken was tasteless and dry. Don't even get me started on the buffet. The pasta was inedible. How can anyone make rigatoni with red sauce taste so bad. When you're charging that price for food, it should at least be served hot. All the dishes were cold and tasted sub par. The only thing that tasted half decent was the mozzarella sticks. The food was laid out nicely in chafers, but the sternos were not being kept up with. Our waiter was quick to come to the table to take our drink order. Normally water is automatically served, but not here. 1/2 hour later he comes back with two of the non alcoholic drinks and tells me they can't make my drink from the menu. So I ask for water for the whole table and 15 minutes later, we only get one cup of water. So after the show, we didn't even bother to get dessert because of our experience with the food. We were so disappointed with the whole experience. For $59.95, I ate three pieces of shrimp (which is all they served you), one mozzarella stick and some of the macaroni salad which was not so good. But I was hungry so I had to eat something. Most of the food we put on our plates was left our plates. My girlfriend asked to speak to the manager and see if they could do something with our bill. Although they didn't charge for the child and the two non alcoholic drinks, the overall experience was not worth $142 and change. We were still going home hungry and disappointed. Definitely not worth the price. But we live and learn. I would say if you have younger children and spend the day at the beach, then go to this amateur show, it may be worth it for some people. For anyone looking for an and authentic Hawaiian style food and show, this is definitely not the place to go. The one star is for the beach view, table seating and the waiter who was very apologetic.
