Until today, I have always been happy to shop at New Look. I learnt two lessons today, the first was to always check any items that I purchase, thoroughly and the second is to make sure that if I buy something without a tag, to tell the assistant to note this on the reciept. I bought a few items last week for my young daughter and didn't as I said, check them for damage and when I came to pay one of the items (all in one pyjamas) it didnt have a tag. But, the assistant didn't say anything and I didn't think that I would be returning anything so I paid and went home. At home I noticed that the pj's had a big hole where the seam had come undone, I wasn't happy with this and therefore wanted to exchange it. Also another item (a scarf) which had two pom poms on the ends; both pom poms came off and the stitching was coming undone. So I told my daughter to put both items in the bag so that I could take them back. I then went to see my sister on Saturday in Birmingham and forgot to take my items to exchange and instead bought a replacment pj at the new look in birmingham.
Today I decided to take the items to New look in loughborough to get a refund, the girl behind the counter took both the items and went it seemed to speak to someone else, after what seemed like an age of me waiting for this girl to come back, an older lady came with the young girl and just told me that the items looked as if they were worn and that all they could do is give me an exchange and not a refund. I immediately took offence, the older lady then started pointing out that the item looked dirty and she or her colleagues would never sell anything this dirty and why would I buy something this dirty! I felt that she was trying to offfend.. We were arguing like this for about 10 minutes and she was just being rude and offensive. I think if she hadn't offended me straight away, I may have exchanged, but for her to accuse me of lying that just broke the camels back, I wasn't going to let her get away with that! In the end she gave me my refund and had the audacity of saying that she would do it this time (give me a refund) but not again, I immediately said that there won't be a next time, as I won't be shopping in New Look, loughborough again! read more
