Not the cheap price, the friendly staff, the current magazines or the lack of snobbery. These things all helped but The Academy has the one thing many Irish barbers don't. THEY DID EXACTLY WHAT I ASKED THEM! I had asked for something quite experimental as well and it was done without a second look or a sneer. I have a new regular barber now. It's been a while. Anyway - the guys that work here are all friendly and they all get along extremely well with each other and their customers. It is always very clean and well maintained, with two TVs tuned to SkySports. I'm sure there's other barbers that are pretty good in the town - but since I started coming here I've never felt compelled to go elsewhere. I usually go to Rob, he's a good dude and is quick with the shears. Always has a story and laugh so it makes a trip to Rory's a good little visit instead of a chore for a mundane task like a haircut. No complaints here, can only encourage you to give Rory's Barbers a go.

I decided to give MGI a try to see if I could be converted by these high end barbers but to be honest my answer is a resounding no. The shop looks great and the guys are friendly but they have the exact same attitude that nearly every barber has in that they seem hell-bent on cutting my hair in the exact opposite way that I asked for. They just went ahead and gave me the haircut they felt like giving me rather than the one I wanted. As it turns out, I'm way more disappointed with this haircut than the ones I've had in cheaper barbershops. In short, I'd say the place is all style and no real substance and I for one won't be going back.
