Three days later he had provided the cremation service, arranged two pastors, a Naval flag presentation, a salute by the local Legion, newspaper notices and an online obituary, helped get us a wheelchair, and we were sitting in the church surrounded by caring friends and family. Being a local funeral director who knows all the groups and people in our area, unlike the national chains, he could also speed along contact with all the people we needed to involve. Meanwhile, Sam was relaxed, friendly, compassionate, completely transparent about services and costs, (which were very fair), and he brought no pressure to any of our decisions (unlike other funeral directors we have experienced).
