You know how when something you have assumed is always there is not there and it's a complete…read moredisaster? That happened when I arrived at MUC and the S-Bahn was down. I have never seen a less organized cluster of incompetence and it only got worse as I tried to get on a replacement bus. There were three people directing traffic and they were simply overwhelmed with the load of passengers that just kept arriving and arriving and arriving.
No organization, no good announcements, and the people were no better. They were pushing, shoving and pretty much elbowing people to get on the rare buses that were slowly arriving.
After about 30 minutes of watching this and seeing no real progress, when a taxi pulled up and said "Paid" I jumped on it. I shouted "Share ride!" and three others got in with me. For €20, I was driven to the main Munich train station.
Seriously, Munich. Failures happen. Have a better way of dealing with it.
About the ONLY good thing is that it was easy to follow the signs from baggage claim to the train station.
