Great venue! About an hour and 1/2 drive from our house in Niedernhausen, but well worth it…read more My daughter wanted to see a live musical, so... Rocky Horror Show it was. Despite the nose bleed seats, a great view. I seriously don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Whether it's a musical, a play, or a rock concert, I think you'll be pleased with this venue. Parking was even easy... Prost!

Some reviews deserve a context…read more.. The man asked what I wanted to do for my birthday. I do not celebrate birthdays, sometimes I do not even remember it until the last minute. However, I said I would like to see Sade when she goes on tour in 2011 because only Lord knows when she will go on tour again. It's been 10 years since her last tour, and I missed the last one because I was in an inaccessible country at that time. I told him I am not missing her this time. Normal people, who are not crazy, will wait for their favorite artist to come to town (or a nearby town) and see him/her. Not us! We are two crazy guys, we don't do things normally. Instead of waiting for Sade to come to Chicago in August, the man bought me tickets to see her on the exact day of my birth (in May). The only issue: the concert is in Cologne, Germany. Kinda far from Chicago. Not the kind to flinch at such decisions, we hopped on a plane and flew to Cologne (there were other European cities to be visited on the trip, but that is a separate topic). The concert took place at the Lanxess arena, which leads us to the review at hand... Located on the east side of the Rhine, Lanxess arena is a moderately sized venue. It pales in comparison to the huge arenas we have in the US (United Center, Staples Center etc), but this is Europe, things are not as big as the US. They are just well designed and pretty. The acoustics were perfect. Lighting arrangements added an extra punch to the show. We had excellent seats, just a few rows from the stage and the view was spectacular. Sade brought the crowd to their feet swaying in harmony. I have never seen a more sophisticated and classy concert in my life. Vendors selling pretzels and beer, clean bathrooms and orderly crowd made the experience better. This would be a five star concert venue if not for the small projection screens. People in the US have TVs bigger than the screens inside Lanxess. Best birthday ever!

I have been here lots of times to watch Hollywood movie. I guess this cinema is one of the few…read morecinema that does not dub their movies to German. Yes it is original. No offense but watching movie in its initial language is much much more better than watching it when dubbed to another language. The cinema is quite small, with only 3 theater. 1 being the biggest theater and the other two is quite small, fit for movies that are regular. The entrance is small, with 3 cashier to sell the tickets and snacks & beverages. Although the appearance of the bar is very unconvincing, the snacks tastes good and they are sold for a very affordable price. Ticket price is cheaper compared to other cinemas around town. On thursday especially, they have 4€ entrance for students. Cheap, but you will be crushed and squeezed by people when the movies previewed are long waited by public! Lol And one last thing that i dislike about the theater, it is very unorganized with the seating. There are no seat numbers so you have to race to get the best view seating- which relates to my statement above. :( Despite my dislike being pushed, shoved, and squeezed in the crowd, this is my only choice to watch international film with its original language that fits my budget plans. I really do hope they renew their policy and arrangements to make a better experience for us, customers.

Metropolis is almost the only theater where they play movies in their original version in Köln…read more Totally old fashion looking, with 2 rooms on the smaller size, Metropolis is very charismatic. But no worries, the technique is totally ok, good picture and sound quality! The best part I find is that on top of the typical sodas, ice cream, popcorn offering they also serve beer that can be taken inside. A nice Kölsch and a good movie, what else? They also of course play German movies and quite a few children movies. The location is perfect lots of restaurants cafe etc. for a bite to eat or a drink before or after and a subway stop right next door. By far my favorite movie theater in Köln

One of my favorite parts about exploring Europe is the large number of awesome museums…read more Wallraf-Richartz Museum is no different. Located in Cologne, I spent a good three hours or so exploring this museum of fine arts. When it comes to museums, I look for several different things, and Wallraf delivered on all fronts. Logistics: museums are typically large. There's a lot to see. I like when a museum is easy to navigate. Where you don't have to use a lot of brainpower to make sure that you don't miss anything. In addition to a map of the museums, the way the museum is laid out makes a difference. It adds to my comfort, along with A/C which you have here. And which is by no means guaranteed in Germany. More importantly, the artwork. Wallraf has an impressive collection of international art spanning various periods and styles including French impressionism, pointillism, and much, much more. You'll find paintings by Monet, Rembrandt, and many other famous artists. I've been lucky enough to learn a lot about art history since I was a kid. I know I'm at a good museum when I'm snapping pictures left and right. This is what happened here. Wallraf-Richartz Museum is one of the top attractions on TripAdvisor in Cologne. Don't miss it when visiting!

The museum is set on three levels, with the upper levels having the older works and the lower levels having the newer works. I do admit that I liked the museum, but it didn't come across as great as some of the other museums that I visited. However, there was a pretty decent selection of art from across the centries, and it was an enjoyable visit. Also, it isn't that huge so you can complete it in an hour or so, depending on how fast you breeze through the rooms.
