I am so grateful for the Nesting Place…read more I found the Nesting Place on Instagram when I was pregnant. I was excited to enroll in prenatal education classes here and was even more excited to take my little one to classes after my baby was born. Prenatally: My husband and I took "newborn care 101" and partner yoga for birth. My husband and I loved the partner yoga with Jen. It really opened my eyes on what I wanted for my birth and helped me change my birth goals and plan. I loved the prenatal yoga classes with Jen as well. I also found my doula through the Nesting Place website. I am so grateful to have found the Nesting Place to help me prepare, as best I could, for my birth through education, support and movement. Postpartum - I was even more grateful for the Nesting Place. I saw that it offered "Fourth Trimester groups" at all three locations - Farmingdale, Merrick and Yaphank. I enrolled in a fourth trimester group in Merrick and received an email saying "come as you are." It was very comforting as it was the first place I took my baby alone. I felt supported with other moms going through the same things at the same time. As moms, we are usually the last ones supported and taken care of, and the Nesting place really offers that space for us to be supported in this new chapter as we are also born as mothers. We have utilized so many resources through the Nesting Place - our lactation consultant, Bella, was instrumental on helping us with feeding/latching issues, baby and me yoga, postnatal strength classes, baby and me music and developmental play with PTs, OTs and SLPs. My baby and I look forward to the classes as we can be ourselves, meet other parents and feel so welcomed. I am really truly grateful that the Nesting Place exists during the time I became a mom. I don't know what I would've done without it. I hope others will "come as you are" and try a class here prenatally or postpartum. It really is a wonderful community.

Laura did an amazing job keeping everyone engaged and incorporated hands-on techniques that my husband will be able to use during our birth. The night before i found schoolhouse play & cafe and decided to book the open play. It DID NOT disappoint. We got there a little too early so they had just finished a class. So we went to get some coffee and a treat at Elise's cafe while we waited. I look outside into the adorable courtyard and see in the window of the school house the ladies thoroughly cleaning it all up. Mamas, it felt so clean in there. Put it this way, there was no dirt on my white socks from this place. The set up is adorable in there. So many fun toys for my son to play with, while also being just the right size so i can always have eyes on him. He had a great time. I also loved that they had a bucket so if any kids put a toy in their mouth, it goes right into the dirty bucket so no other kids can touch it. My son conked right out as soon as we got home. Which is exactly what i needed and wanted. He had such a blast. Also the girls that work there were so sweet. You can tell they know exactly what they are doing and have a good system. Long Island mamas, i highly recommend @schoolhouseplaycafe we will 100% be back. Cant wait to try out their classes.

Inside the village they have a diner, market place, doctors office, and all sorts of toys, puzzles, and games. They offer both open play and classes at location. Within the location they also have Elises nieces cafe, which features delicious coffees and desserts. Our 3 year old son loved this place and would highly recommend for kids 0-5.

I'm here to warn all the parents of special needs kids, do NOT take your child to Goldfish Swim…read moreSchool - Farmingdale because they are not equipped or educated on inclusion. I had a horrible experience with my special needs son at Goldfish swim school in Farmingdale, NY. I would rate this place a zero if I could. My son attended Goldfish as an infant at the Garden City, NY location. We had a wonderful experience at that location. We cancelled classes due to pandemic. We have since moved to Wantagh, NY decided to enroll him in a group class at the Farmingdale location. I decided to call the manager to let him know my son is autistic, mild on the spectrum and to make sure they could accommodate and to let teachers know. I explained that he has taken private and groups swim lessons at our home pool and at goldfish in the past, that he attends pre-school, and takes gymnastics classes. The manager seemed receptive to see how our son would do in a small group class of his peers. He explained to me that safety is first, but that for the first few weeks they would slowly integrate him and see if he would acclimate to the class. I was told that for the first 2 weeks or so, they would allow his caretaker to walk to the pool with him. I was told there would be a 2nd person on hand to assist and redirect him to sit as needed, until he gets used to routine. The manager told me that if he couldn't follow instructions after a few weeks, I could cancel enrollment. My son had his first class this week on Wednesday 1/18/23. Our babysitter said he was very excited to join the class, and after she said that he did well and though excited about the new surroundings he participated in the class. There was no negative feed back after the class either. The sitter mentioned that there was a 2nd person there outside the pool area who redirected him twice because he stood up in place when she said he should be sitting. The instructor seemed annoyed and impatient and told him he had to listen. So my caretaker went over and explained that he was autistic and that if she could be patient and speak to him slowly, he responds well. The instructor said she had not been told he was autistic. Which was disappointing because I had specifically talked to the manager about this, and assumed he would share this info with both instructors. As I said I never received any negative feedback from the school and was planning to continue the next week. I decided to call 1/20 to get feedback on how he did, and a lady who answered the phone immediately said she remembered me and that she thinks he cannot NOT continue taking the class because he could not sit the whole half hour during the session. She claimed safety was the most important thing. And that they don't have the staffing to "deal" with him. I was shocked by the conversation. I expected that a manager himself would be the person to give me this info. I expected they would tell me that he wasn't perfect, but that they could maybe see how he would do with a few more classes. I was speechless. I immediately asked to be re-imbursed $130 as the manager had told me he would if it didn't work out. They immediately agreed to a partial re-imbursement, and encouraged that I take advantage of the "family swim". Family swim is a free pool time where parents and kids get in the pool. Why would I pay $130 to swim at their school when a local YMCA offers swim at a much cheaper cost. I expressed my dissapointment that in this day and age Goldfish makes ZERO effort to try and accomodate children with special needs even though the goldfish website touts their accessibility, flexibility and programs for special needs but the franchises don't actually offer ANYTHING for kids like my son. The lady immediately changed her tune, and said they could try one more time. But I said NO thanks. Why would I want to send my son to a place that didnt want or care to work to acclimate him, that is telling me they are unwilling and unable to have staff to support a him and keep him safe??? Your website says "Goldfish Swim School is committed to providing individuals with disabilities access to information, goods, services and privileges offered on this website, Goldfishswimschool.com". It's great that your website is accessible, but your actual storefronts, do nothing to be inclusive of children with special needs. Your website also says "We're constantly evaluating our students and are very flexible when it comes to working with each child's individual strengths and weaknesses," I guess this statement does not apply to children with special needs. I will be sharing this information with my large special needs community, on facebook and anywhere there are ratings options. I hope someone at corporate is listening.

THE BEST OF THE BEST…read more My daughter celebrated her 10th birthday here just recently. I couldn't be any happier with how the party had turned out. From the get go, the staff had been very helpful & courteous. They helped us bring the food from our car into the venue. When we arrived, everything was prepared already. Chairs matched the table covers & the place was clean & organized. Special shout-out to Gio, Kylie & Ariana who went above & beyond in making sure that we had the best party experience ever. I've been to a lot of party places & had organized birthday parties for my daughters, but Gold Fish Swim School is by far THE BEST. I think it's a requirement for those who work here to be EXTREMELY NICE because they all are. Lol. The staff made sure that we, as parents aren't stressed out & could get into "the moment" without having to worry what other stuff needs to be done. To the owner / CEO of Gold Fish, thank your lucky stars to have such hard working & just really nice people working for your company. I surely would love to celebrate another party here pretty soon. And for all parents out there who are looking for a stress-free & worth-every-buck place to celebrate your child's birthday, this is THE place to be!!!

Now I WISH I can tell you about the flight lesson; but I seriously couldn't because it's not possible for you to book a lesson. They won't call you back. My husband's bucket list of things he wanted to do included learning how to fly a plane. I wanted to get the flight lesson for him for his birthday AND fly it together with HIM ON his birthday. I emailed. I texted. I initially got messages back via text on questions answered. I bought a Groupon; and they told me there was a $100 surcharge for the student; and $50 surcharge for the passenger. Fine. This was already turning out more expensive then other schools in the area; but I had already committed and purchased their groupon and didn't want to go through the hassle of exchanging it. The lady told me I had to call her to leave a credit card to officially make a reservation. I said that's fine; I'll give her a call in a little bit. My little bit did turn out to be the next day. I called the next day and left a message. I called again 2 days later to leave another message. And 2 days later to leave another message. I texted. NO response. I emailed. Finally I receive a call back from an instructor saying the lady is in charged of reservation and he'll make sure she calls me. 4 days later; she still didn't. So I called again this morning - still no answer. She calls me back an hour later saying she's not in the office yet; and can't tell me if I can have the time slot OR take my credit card info; and that she'll call me later. It's now been 6 hours since THAT call; and I'm officially agitated. She even reprimanded me for not calling her to leave a cc number. Lady - I have my call logs; and I did call you - and leave you MULTIPLE messages. I hope business is so good for them that they don't need any new customers; and perhaps that is what it is. As for us; we'll never know if this was a good school or not; but warning - if you do see them on groupon - don't buy it. Don't bother buying it unless you call and can reach the people to actually book your flight; because you likely won't be able to.

Even back then, it stood out as one of the best flight schools around, and what really impresses me is that they've remained steady and reliable all these years. A lot of flight schools come and go, but Academy of Aviation has stayed strong, which says a lot in this industry. If you're looking for a cheap flight school, this might not be the place--but that's a good thing. Too often, budget schools shut down without warning, leaving students stranded and out of options. Academy of Aviation has a well-maintained fleet, structured programs, and a solid reputation. Whether you're pursuing a career in aviation--military or civilian--or just flying for fun, this is the place to go. I'm not sure why it took me over two decades to write this, but I can say with confidence that this is one of the best schools I've trained at. I have great memories, especially from those early days when the owner was also my instructor. The training was thorough, professional, and effective, and I left with a strong foundation. About two years ago, I tried to rent a plane from them again after not flying for about 10 years. The process felt different, more geared toward structured student training rather than casual renters, which I've grown to accept. I flew with an instructor who was a bit wary about spins, and while I can't blame him--considering my long break from flying--I couldn't help but reflect on how the CFIs from my training days were probably more daring. Back then, they'd get excited, and I'd be the one nervous. These days, I understand the pressure instructors are under. One mistake can cost a career, and I respect that fully. While the experience of returning wasn't quite what I remembered, it doesn't take away from the fact that this school provides top-notch training. It's structured, professional, and results-driven. It may be costly, but you're paying for quality, safety, and real results. I would still give Academy of Aviation a 5-star rating and highly recommend it to anyone serious about flight training. Whether you are just starting out or looking to take your aviation journey to the next level, this school will set you up for success.
