I get the sense they are very much like a used car dealer. It was the end of the quarter and they were offering a $250 discount. If I sign by the end of the month. My refund, via writen letter from your office, is $430. The significant cost of cancellation after the first 30 days is very ambiguous in the contract and not discussed in detail at original. I even tried to donate the unopened Urn and was flatly told no bc the company changed suppliers. Urns don't expire and someone, somewhere would have genuinely appreciated this gift. Not morally ok! Your contract should give specific examples and dollar amounts of potential loss should someone's circumstances change and they elect to cancel during the life of the contract after the initial 30 days. Our daughter died in Oct, since we are not in Austin, we never received notification. When we did find out, she was already at Neptune, who we were aware of. We were very impressed with Amber, she brought everything back to where it should be, we had very little to do, she handled everything and at a very reasonable price. The employees were instructed to send the death certificates to the Executor of the Estate. They allowed a relative to walk in and take them. They also don't have the funeral home/crematorium facilities there. They outsource them and charge for the service. Better to contact a funeral home directly and save money and get a more professional job. read more

We purchased a pre-planned cremation for my mother about a year before she passed away. When the time came, they still came out to our tiny Texas town at 3am and respectfully and delicately helped her to her final destination. We worked with Stephanie Sylvester when my mother passed in 2022. Stephanie was extremely prompt and available in assisting us, especially in the beginning when we were confused as to why our mother's body was not taken to the funeral home we'd chosen. Once we were convinced to accept Neptune's preferred vendor, however, we were no longer able to reach Stephanie. I left daily messages, initially to try to get the link for her memorial service onto the website, and as those went unanswered to see if we might get the link to the replay. For over a week. My calls were not once returned, and I was told that no one else could help since she was assigned to us. I understand that Stephanie may have had personal reasons for being unavailable, but I do wish then that Neptune had a way to ensure that our family was able to receive assistance when needed. read more

Terrible experience with this company. I called them the night my father died. They told me that I would have to have someone in "authority" call them the next morning in order to pick up the body. First thing in the morning I called the memory care facility where he died and was told that he had been taken at 2am. I never saw him again. To make matters worse, they continue to contact me trying to get me to do marketing surveys or texting me to "check in" and see how I'm doing. Really? I don't need disingenuous expressions of concern for my well-being. It seems like about every two weeks I get something from them to remind me of what happened, despite the fact that I have repeatedly asked them not to contact me for any reason. At this point, I just want them to leave me alone. And if you are someone from the company reading this, do not bother posting with your "condolences" or to apologize. Such sentiments from your company are, in my view, not to be trusted. read more

My husband and I went to a sales presentation at a free luncheon a few years ago- well-presented and thankfully, my husband decided that's what he wanted. We ended up buying the whole package- included keep sake box, biodegradable urn, first death certificate, and pretty much all inclusive directions on how to proceed... We received cards to put behind our driver's license- with us wherever we were. I think it was 2018 when we purchased our plan. My husband was diagnosed with cancer soon after the COVID shutdowns were lifted. He always kept a positive attitude, but sometimes things still don't work out as we hope and pray for. He passed away April 2nd. Hospice contacted the Neptune Staff- and, they arrived in a timely manner. Giving me time to say Good-bye to my wonderful husband, before taking his body away. It wasn't easy, but they made a difficult process a lot easier- esp. since my husband is the one who chose cremation- while he was still alive and healthy. And they saved our family so much trouble. We were happy we paid years ago. All we had to pay was a small amount for various items we purchased. I am so disappointed in the Austin office of Neptune. We signed up for Neptune and then cancelled the very next day once we realized that their service did not meet our needs. My husband can not travel and sense we are homebound, we needed none of the services that would help those who travel. We have had no help from the Austin office who admitted that their office was a mess at the time we cancelled. It has now been way more than a year and we continually are getting noticed from a collection agency. We have perfect credit and are humiliated with their threats. I have begged Shawn to take care of this. I have explained the situation to the collection agency and still the letters continue. Wow, the kindness that was shown from the first phone call was the reason I went in. This Neptune society takes way too long to refund the monies back to customers after they have cancelled their contracts. First they want a notorized letter cancelling the contract. Then you have to wait another month for them to send you another letter giving you instructions of how to send the creamation box back. Then it's another month to get my money back of $549. Their process is long and dragged out for the consumer. Do not sign up with Neptune Society. It is a long and frustrating drag and waste of time. read more

My father very recently died and I cannot say enough good things about how wonderful Neptune Society was to work with. From coming to the house to pre-plan to handling everything after he died. They were so kind when we called to report dads death. They had people here at the house to pick him up less than 45 minutes after he was released. The doctor that agreed to sign the death certificate went out of town right after-scheduled to be gone a week and a half, and Neptune took care of calling and getting the dr in from her vacation to get it signed. It took one week from the day of his death until his ashes and the death certificate were ready. Every interaction I had there was very compassionate and professional. This review is long overdue but also timely. When my mother died suddenly in 2016, we weren't sure what to do, so we called a funeral home to start the process. It turned out that my mom had made plans with Neptune in advance "just in case" for both her and our father. As soon as her information was entered into the funeral home's system, Neptune took over. They called us immediately not only with words of comfort but also with reassurances of "we will handle everything". And they did. We had a small mishap with death certificates being mailed to the wrong address, but that was a 50/50 shared responsibility. Otherwise, it was very smooth, and above all, they were kind. Fast forward three years to last month when my father died. Again, one call to Neptune and Ally Stiles stepped into our lives and handled everything. She was communicative, kind and professional. I contacted them to make cremation only arrangements for my daughter-in-law's mom visiting from another state after a decision had been made overnight to remove all life support. She was expected to die that day. I knew exactly what the family wanted and expressed that at the beginning of the conversation. Unfortunately, the gentleman I talked to was only interested in doing a big sales pitch despite my constant attempts to redirect him to give me the pertinent information I needed to assist in making the arrangements! I finally asked him to just email me a quote for their services. He told me he couldn't do that despite my seeing on their website that they could. I was going to hang up when he finally told me the price. At that point I was so outraged at his insensitivity and greasy sales pitch I wouldn't have used them no matter what! I called another crematorium who gave me the information I needed up front and was able to offer the same services at 60% of the price! Bottom line, I would never recommend Neptune, especially with other services offering the same thing at a substantially cheaper price. read more
