A good friend of ours decided to give up his career in software engineering and, opened this shop…read moretoday. Maoz is an extremely talented carpenter, photographer and of course, a huge music fan. This has been his desire for a long time and, I am glad he finally did it. The shop is located about 3 mins walk from the Josephplatz U-Bahn station and, is on a quite street. It is quite spacious and divided into three rooms. At the moment he has two rooms open and, will open the third, once it's all decorated and he has all the shelving and so on in place. The design is quite retro and has his distinct personal touch. Nice comfortable chairs, spaces to sit and have coffee, read a book or, just listen to some cool music. The coffee he has is a from a bio roasters and quite intense and flavourful. He has a wide selection of music from jazz, blues, classics, rock and an eclectic blend that suits many different music tastes. Browse through the boxes and I am sure there will be some nice surprises in store. Prices are also reasonable, I think they are anyway ;-) I am sure this place will evolve over time and, he will add many more interesting things to the place including books, photographs for sale and so on. I look forward to watching this over the coming months to see how it further develops. A nice addition to the area and I hope you agree. I did consider giving him 5 starts but I deducted one as he is a friend :-)) No further deduction is required ;-)

The shop offers a good selection of new and used records with focus on rock and jazz, but also a smaller selection of soundtracks, electronic and more exotic genres is available. The prices are fair and the cool thing about this shop is that you also can get a very good cup of coffee while listning to the records you have sought out for yourself. I find myself dropping by the shop often to look through the new arrivals - and of course to get the good coffee! A highly recommended experience for vinyl and coffee lovers!

Max + Milian Buchladen is a charming cosy gay and lesbian bookshop located in the glockenbach…read morequarter of Munich. There is a real charm of this cosy bookshop, it has the feeling of time and here you can let time pass you by. The atmosphere is relaxed, calm and gentle. It is not like one of those large chains, it is not huge nor can you buy coffee or snacks, but here you really get the sense of a personal touch, it is individual and indeed it is unique. As you walk in and let the door close behind hearing a bell, the owner of the store is there to greet you, always at helping hand with a warm yet caring smile, anything you need he will do his best to help you out. The front of the shop is dedicated to photography, art, musical, gay literature both in German and English, music and DVDs. The rear of the shop holds a collection of lifestyle magazines printed in Germany, France, United Kingdom and USA, medical books and large section dedicated to the lesbian customer. In the midst of all the books lies a beat up old black two seated sofa and once you sink into it, you really don't want to get out. Yes this is the shop that lets time slip calmly by while enjoying a good book and observing the little cute charming book shop in the middle of a large city.

Max and Milian's is always on my list when I visit Munich. I'll definitely check it out again next…read moremonth during my forthcoming vacation. The owner and staff members are always helpful and they understand that some customers like to look around. In two other Munich bookshops, it was assumed I had a specific title in mind, and I really felt unwelcome and uncomfortable about browsing. When browsing, I always find 2 or 3 books I didn't even know about, then purchase them. I really value places like Max and Milian's these days when specialized bookshops are going out of business, and wish them continued success.
