We had a great experience at Neo Art School this summer. They were very prepared for Covid- making sure all kids had their own materials and any common materials were sanitized. Everyone wore masks. They had temperature checks upon arrival. The staff is professional and also warm. I felt my kids were well cared for and safe. They were well prepared to engage the kids- the girls had well organized, well thought out projects every day. Every week brought several different art projects and each week was unique in what was created; ranging from 3-D to painting to sculpture to drawing. My oldest daughter loves making art and literally happily worked on her projects all day. My younger daughter who hadn't expressed as much interest really found her creative voice and had a blast. My daughter has attended multiple classes and camps at Neo art school. She always has a great time at camp and brings her beautiful project home. Their outdoor heated camps were such a relief during the pandemic and they are very flexible with scheduling. read more

My kids attended camp at Neo art school. I messed up the registration for one of them, and neo was super accommodating and made it work anyway. My kids are not especially artistic, but they came home with very impressive art work that looks great on my home office walls. And more importantly, they had fun. read more

We loved this Camp! my 6-year-old spent the winter break there. It was cold and outside and the camp was super accommodating with heaters and plenty of volunteers. We signed one of my daughters up for Neo Art at the beginning of the year as a Christmas gift and thought we would just complete one session. She loved it so much that her older sister begged to join, and we've enrolled the girls through the rest of the school year. Sean has been such an incredible teacher, and the projects are fantastic. They've learned various mediums that build on basics they've experienced in art at school, as well as information about famous artists and inspiration behind techniques. (The Jackson Pollock lesson was one of their favorites!). Our girls are attending one of the summer camps and we're hoping to enroll them again next year. My 6-year-old attended a camp last summer. There were 60ish kids that ran as a pack in Meridian Park. They were not grouped by age or assigned to an instructor. My 6-year-old ate lunch alone under a tree (they were instructed to spread out), was sent to the bathroom by herself (the public bathrooms also used by illegal park campers everywhere), was bullied by some 5thgrade boys on the playground and couldn't find an adult from Neo to help (four other orgs also use the park/playground for camps)... The staff didn't know the drop off/pick up procedures and the campers' schedule. My kid could have disappeared for hours and no one would have known until I went to pick her up. The art itself was great, but unless they make a lot of changes, Neo is only appropriate for an older, street-smart child who enrolls with a friend so they can look out for each other and can have a phone on them to call home if something happens. I'd heard good things from past attendees- frankly, I think Neo realized that by moving camp outdoors, they could enrolled an unlimited number of kids, which they did, without updating their procedures/systems. read more

It's so crazy how long they have been around, being able to show my son my art on the wall is amazing! I had so much fun in the classes and with their camps! My son is following in those footsteps, he is having so much fun, they have a way of making every kid feel special and that their art is amazing and unique! read more

My 6 year old son just completed a week of art summer camp and had a wonderful time. I was so impressed with his teachers, Sean and Janice. They are both very patient with children and yet, manage to get razor sharp, extended focus out of my very active child. They are great with parents as well, always taking a few minutes at drop-off to fill me in on my son's progress. It seems they really take the time to get to know each student, take note of their strengths and build upon them. My son learned so much about art in just this one week and has so much pride when he looks at the artwork he completed. Mostly, I just value a chance for him to do nothing but art for a whole week, as he only gets a half hour a week during the school year and loves it. We are happy with this school and will definitely be back. read more

My boys attended this school as a part of their education at Meridian. As Linda put it "girls are thinkers, boys are stinkers" and were divided up into two tables. The girls got attention and help, the boys were treated like morons. It wasn't until one of my sons came home with his pants in a bag that I discovered that bathroom breaks were at the discretion of Russ. He determined that my son did not need to go when he asked to. The art my children brought home featured dead trees for an entire year. The trees never sprouted leaves or turned green. It took Gage Academy's open teen nights for my kids to realize they liked making art, after being convinced by Linda and Russ that they hated it. read more

Both of our kids - a boy and a girl - have attended numerous neo-art classes and camps over the years. It is something that they and their friends look forward to with great anticipation. The instructors are fabulous -- knowledgeable, creative, fun, and loved by the children. (We've observed them personally many times, as we've been dropping kids off and picking them up for years). Neo Art School is a fantastic art school for kids. It is located in the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford. I'm pretty sure they focus just on ages 5-12 (but I'm not actually 100% positive about that). They have after-school, break and summer programs. They also do art birthday parties. All forms of art are taught. They have a good website with all info, class descriptions, and examples of kids projects (a search for Neo Art will find the site). Both my kids have gone here from age 5 up and have loved it. read more

My son just completed a week of camp at the Neo Art School and loved it so much! He loved being totally immersed in making art. Over the course of the week, he made clay creations, paintings, and drawings. The staff did an excellent job making the art special for the kids by matting their pieces. On the last day, he had half a dozen pieces at least that were matted and ready for hanging. Finley was so proud of all he made and I was happy he was able to get some good art instruction that was not only fun but also helped him develop his skills. He will definitely be back for camp next summers (he's already talking about it!) and perhaps for classes before then. read more

With a wonderful location and very nice facilities, this ought to be a nice place to send you kid. And I'm sure it is, provided you stay on the owner's good side. Of course, if you get on her bad side, she'll take it out on your kid first, then tell you about it later. And make sure your kid never cries in class, she hates that. read more

My daughter loves NeoArt! She's gone for week-long camp three summers in a row. She's now 10 and can't wait to go back again. The instructors are fantastic (Magic especially) and really inspire the children with expertise, enthusiasm and kindness. The best part is the portfolio that comes home at the end of the week. All of my daughter's work comes home mounted and presented in a beautiful way. She loves this camp and I'm truly impressed as well. read more

Neo Art, or Neo as our kids call it, has been our children's favorite summer camp for years. The kids get to work with clay (they have a kiln), paint, paper mache, and lots of other tools and techniques. The staff are warm and make the kids feel like they can create anything. They provide guidance and input but let the kids do the creative thinking. Our daughter has grown into a very creative kid and is a wonderful drawer who feels empowered to create and use art as a way to express herself. read more

I contacted the owner, Linda Demirel Barnes to host a birthday party for my daughter at our home. She agreed to a certain date and time and asked me to send in an agreement form and payment for the whole event. I promptly did that and though she said that she would be in touch with me after receiving my check, she seems to have disappeared! My check was cashed but I could not reach her by phone or email though I tried numerous times, leaving several voice mails and emails. Of course she didn't show up on the party day leaving me to scramble at the last minute and having a disappointed child. I can't believe that an owner of a seemingly established school would give no indication, even if something unforeseen came up, especially after taking the money! I might have to file a civil dispute case - Be wary!! read more

My girls (6 and 8) really enjoy Neo Art. My elder daughter has attended several camps, and always had a good experience.

Sent my 7 year old daughter to a winter break camp and she gave it a big thumbs up. She wants to go there again soon and she said it was as good as the Roaring Mouse Creative Art Studio, which has been her favorite for years. Now she has two favorites, but Neo Art School is closer to our house, so I have a feeling they'll see a lot more of us in the years to come. read more
