Disappointed. Let me start off by saying I was sea sick the whole 6 hour trip. That didn't add anything to the trip. That being said not a single bit, not one... the crew and captain were very gracious. But as for finding the fish it was a bust... Turned out to be a complete waste of money and time. Duke and Randy were fantastic! First time big water fishing for my girls and they did everything to accommodate them in building swell, super cool guys! Also got us on some fish that was a ton of fun. Super knowledgable and enjoyed hearing about the history of Kauai. Never book this boat Nemesis! $900 for 4 hours and all you are doing is paying for the captain to hunt big fish for himself...He made it perfectly clear that we could only keep fish smaller than 50lbs...which seemed cool, however, after a couple of hours of trolling for his fish, he says "let's put on live bait and try to get something under 50lbs...within minutes, we had a 10lb skip jack in the boat. 1 person got to fight the fish with light tackle...he had fun...then the captain spent about 30 minutes trolling that fish around...after no bites, they rigged for big fish again and headed home...all the captain had to do to satisfy us was to let us all catch 1 of the skip jack...it would have taken maybe an hour...There was small tuna everywhere. This experience was horrible. I feel scammed and more than likely I will never charter a boat again, especially from this guy.... read more

I've been out with Darrin multiple times and can tell you he knows how to fish. Darrin is fishing for the big boys not just any fish. It is called fishing and not catching. That being said I've been skunked with Darrin but also caught my largest Ahi at close to 200 lbs. I consider Darrin a friend and regret not being able to fish with him on a recent trip because of a recent back surgery. Good luck and tight lines. read more

Got seasick and had to turn back. Booked a 4 hour charter and we only went 3 hours. Captain Mark and Deckhand Allister were very nice... but we didn't even get a single bite. I understand fishing is fishing, and they can't control that... but for 3 hours on a charter and $700, I expected a little more action. Better off using your $700 to do something else on the island... helicopter ride, horseback riding, ATVs. The charter before us went for 6 hours and didn't catch a thing either. Kinda a waste of a day for a whole lot of money. You're just better off spending your money on something else. read more

Darrin and Davey were the best! Darrin was not going to quit until he got us on some fish. And once we did, we kept pulling them up! We got ourselves some monsters! I forget the name of what we caught but I can tell you, they were excellent for dinner that night! We had a complete blast on the boat. A perfect day. We booked a private four hour fishing charter with Darrin at Nemesis Sport Fishing. He is super nice guy but it just seemed like no effort was put into the trip. My group and I showed up at 11:30 to start the charter and Darrin done a great job going over rules and techniques for the boat and fishing. The wind was blowing a hundred miles an hour so we asked if it was going to be too rough to fish today and Darrin replied "no" so we hit the water. Needless to say we got ROCKED the entire time, obviously Darrin can not control the wind nor what the water is doing but I would say it was absolutely way to rough to be fishing that day and I think someone that has been chartering for years would know that it was way to rough. We trolled for a few hours without a single bite not to mention Darrin was on the phone almost the entire time scheduling other charters and I get it he is running a business but you could at least keep company to the people that chose you to charter with but at this point we're already over it, not to mention the terrible terrible exhaust leak from the boat no matter where you went you could not get away from the smell it gave us all headaches and I would consider getting that fixed!! We get about a mile from the shore and he gets mini his deckhand to change baits. She is absolutely incredible by the way!! We swapped to a few different lures and trolled again for another 15-20 minutes without a single bite. We make our way back to the harbor and it takes maybe 3 minutes to get there because we were already fishing so close. We dock up and Darrin says "sorry we didn't catch any fish, it was a little more rough then what I thought it was going to be", but he was just on the water doing another charter before we got there so there is no way he did not know. Darrin also stated that if he was to catch any fish he would personally bring to by so that way we could at least have something out of the trip, they caught a fish the next day and we did not hear from him. I think that is just his nice sales pitch of "this trip just costed you $900 bucks and you did not get a bite so to smooth things over i will bring some fish by".... Darrin also seemed more interested in inviting my 22 year old girlfriend to come play volleyball with his buddies considering he mentioned that at least four times and texted her once about it. It was kind of weird to me that he stalked my girlfriends profile and knew she was an excellent volleyball player. We are here to catch fish man not invite my girlfriend to come play volleyball the whole time we're on the boat. Also not to mention we talked to one of the locals about the fishing trip and he stated that you are supposed to change baits every hour if the fish are not biting what you are trolling with, makes sense to try new things until something starts working but we did not do that. That was my first experience charter fishing and it ruined me I probably will never go again... read more

If you want the best you have found it.These guys are professionalls- Captain Darrin is a certified IGFA captain and he has top of the line equipment. Both guys are filled with the aloha spirit! My husband caught a striped marlin within 2 hours of leaving shore. It is the first species Tom said he was after so he could mount it. I was a happy bystander until first mate Amp tricked me into reeling in some live bait. It was fun and I thanked him for getting me involved. Darrin & Amp prepared Tom for the fight in the fighting chair early on so I was really grateful! When the marlin got hooked, the fight was on & it was so great! He also reeled in a kahala that got alot lighter as he reeled. It was ate by a shark & only it's head was left! Amp doesn't stop cleaning-it's one clean boat. They had fish for us to take home for dinner besides sending us off with ALOT of our marlin. These guys know what they're doing and have great Aloha! read more

The first thing you will notice when you get to the docks is that the Nemesis is the nicest boat there! They keep their boat very clean and their gear is as good as it gets! Darrin, TJ, and Chris are all licensed captains so you are in the best hands. They are so knowledgable about fishing and very personable. Chris hung out with us almost the whole time while TJ drove the boat. The Nemesis costs a little more, but it is so worth it, especially in shared charters because Darrin doesn't take more than 4 people usually. It is crazy that there are smaller boats who cram six people on the back! On my trip we didn't catch any fish, but I definitely had a wonderful time, got a nice tan, and saw a whale breach at the end of March! I felt that the things I learned and being out in the deep blue sea was worth every cent and next time I come back to Kauai, I definitely plan on going on the Nemesis. Also, the guys caught a lot of fish the day before so they didn't let us go without taking home some Mahi Mahi and tuna. I really respect the guys for doing that because they definitely didn't have to, nor was it expected. They are some of the greatest guys I met while traveling in Kauai. read more
