My friend recommended to come to this barber shop, and I've been coming here for over the past 3 months. The environment is warm, friendly, and my barber, Gabe, always does an outstanding job. I have never left this Barber Shop, out of the frequent times I go every month, feeling unsatisfied. If you are looking a fantastic barber: look no further. Below is an example of a cut I got from Gabe. I have full trust in him to fulfill my vision for my hair, and, as Ive said before, he NEVER disappoints. read more

Nelson's Barber Shop - Haircut I received from Gabe. He NEVER disappoints, and he is able to fulfill my vision completely 10/10 - Barbers Near Me - Sunnyside, New York

I've been getting a haircut from Nelson for the past 20 years. I moved to New Jersey now but I still come to get a haircut by him. He's very welcoming and nice person to speak to. My son also comes with me to get a haircut from him and loves it read more

Yup. Still going to Nelson's shop. Still the best haircut I've received in NYC and in life. Gabriel is a TOP notch barber and I consider him solid friend since meeting him 2+ years ago. I'll go no where else to get a cut or shave. I highly recommend Nelson's who's looking for that new look or keeping the mop up top the same. Also, this place will never break the bank. My cut is super cheap and I look great every time ($14). read more

Could have been better. I appreciated the new york selling, the want to make small talk to gain a permanent customer. But I grew up in ny and left for better quality and less slicktalk. It night work on a 18 year old. But not this wise man. read more

Went by 2 months later... he finally has masks on barbers... but they keep pulling them off to talk to the patrons, to each other, to take calls. And there are 6 people waiting inside. Just ridiculous. read more

They don't wash hair here, but i had a latina lady cut my hair. While her English is pretty limited, she understood what i wanted and cut my hair well. She shaved the back of my neck and side burns, and cleaned those areas up with an alcohol swab. The cut was $14, so i just gave her $20 to keep the change. Very good VALUE at this place. read more

Been going here for a couple of years. I have tried cuts from most of the guys working here. The staff is friendly and chatty - it's a real barber shop! A couple of times I have seen Nelson call my name as I walked by, scissors in one hand, water bottle in the other, and scream: "I'll be free in 20, looks like you need a cut". Staff seem to get along with each other. Glad that I am not even a block away from them. read more

Haven't gotten a cut in while but I showed up randomly after work and Gabriel was ready to cut. Literally didn't know what I was going for but he helped me out after I showed him some general photos. Dude was young and full of energy. Seemed to be well raved about in the yelp reviews so I was glad I ended up being his client. Very comfortable and rather quick. Got in and out in a matter of minutes but still kept the professionalism and precision. The cut was $14. Definitely going to be coming back here for all my cuts. Love this place read more

My hair is marvelously on fleek after getting a cut at Nelson's. While the shop is a bit bare bones, my barber was polite, did an amazing job, and finished off my edges with a hot shave--leaving me looking and feeling absolutely fabulous. All of this for $14 + tip? GET OUTTA HERE. And for first-timers, check-in on Yelp to get $2 off, but be sure to still tip your barber accordingly! I'm sure you'll be amazed. ;D read more

The best Barber shop in queens if not the world! Nelson is always friendly and accommodating and honestly has given me one of the bests haircuts I've ever had, all in one try! :) read more

very happy to have Nelson's as my neighborhood barbershop. the price is unbeatable and the shop was fully staffed when I went by on my lunch hour so there wasn't too long of a wait. the owner was welcoming and cut my hair just as requested. will definitely be back for another trim. read more

I had intended to wait a full year between hair cuts, but a new gig next week meant a new haircut this week. I did a little online search, and everyone seemed to agree that this place knew their stuff. Plus it's two blocks from my apartment, so I was sold. Nelson's is every bit as good as everyone else says they are. I gave some vague directions on how I'd like my hair cut, and the lady knocked it out of the park. Everyone was pleasant, and happy to have as much or as little conversation as you want. Also, $15 for a haircut. Seriously, this place is great. Go there, you won't regret it. read more

Been here twice. Once pre COVID-19 & recently after they reopened. Had different barbers but results were more than satisfactory. Gentlemen's cut with a #1 fade. Nelson is always welcoming & treats everyone like he's known you forever. My new go to barber! read more

Bad rash all around hairline and face after cut. I have never got irritated or anything after a haircut this is my first time. This place must be DIRTY!!!!! Using dirty clipper and combs!! Not once did he disinfect any of his tools. Looks like I'm not the only one that's experienced this. read more

My barber was on vacation so I decided to swing by this place. I remember seeing Nelson at G&G years ago. So I went in to try them out. He referred Loui to me. I told him I wanted a fade. Loui did an okay job cutting my hair. I was explaining to him how I wanted it and it looked like he was bothered. He did not leave it how I wanted it. Attitude stinks. Personality is not fit to deal with customers. This is just my opinion of him, for all I know he could be the nicest guy on earth, but wasn't my experience with him. read more

THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. The barbers can't cut and gave me razor burn before an important event. Wouldn't recommend anyone go here

Spending the Summer in NYC so needed a place for a haircut- Nelson's doesn't disappoint. In fact it's probably the best cut I've gotten in over a year despite a great price point ($15). Very friendly barbers and efficient. You won't wait too long. Would definitely recommend a friend and will come back. read more

he's really really good with kids. He's able to give my two and half year old son a haircut which is (quite honestly) next to impossible. He has a nice approach and my son looks great when he's done. Before I found his barber shop, we went to a few places which are strictly for kids, and it always ended badly because my son panics with the sounds and strangers around him. It was torture for the both of us. Apart from this (which is a huge deal), is the customer service. It's pretty good. They don't make you wait and they're very nice and super cool. read more

Just new to the area and wanted to get a shape up. Was introduced to Wilda and she did a fantastic job! I will go back again.

I have now been to this establishment 3 different times and had my hair cut by 3 different barbers. Every single experience has been outstanding in regards to time, service, courtesy, and price. Gabriel was the last gentleman to cut my hair and I believe he made significant improvements based upon what I had requested and Nelson is always welcoming and attentive at the front. Always an awesome shave and a hair cut, great folks, can't beat the service and the price, thanks fellaz and I'll see yooz again soon! read more

Moved into Sunnyside a few months ago, long overdue for a haircut but I am kind of picky about new places. Saw that this was nearby and had 5 stars from most people so I figured it was worth a go. Price for a quick mens cut was great! ($14) Hair cutter was super friendly and did a great job! Everything was great! Going to continue the 5 star trend with my own! read more

I've been living in Brooklyn for two years. the worst haircut i got, I realy so sad i'm never going to cross this street never

My first time going, which I'm now regretting I didn't go sooner. Walked in, didn't wait long. Staff was chill but attentive and very welcoming. Cut by Rafael was basically perfect, he was quick but still methodical, and he made sure I was happy and that he didn't miss any spots. This is my new go to barber shop in Sunnyside, in Queens, even in NYC. read more

Walked past this barber shop several times and it always seemed busy. (Which is a good thing) I needed a haircut at short noticed on Saturday, so I decided to try it out! A very friendly man (which I assumed was Nelson) welcomed me and told me that someone would be with me ASAP! The lady cut my hair, and each time she switched blades she sanitized! Good old fashioned barber shop! Very clean and reasonably priced! As I left Nelson introduced himself hence the reason I write this review. Here was a small business owner going the extra mile! I usually leave this place satisfied but there was this new Hispanic looking guy that gave me my haircut and I told him to leave the top long and not short but this man just started chopping away and doing his own thing. Horrible haircut. I will never come back again. Rude horrible customer service. Please stay away from the young guy especially. He will cut your face and your hair will never grow back the same. read more

Copying and pasting my same review from google reviews. DO NOT GO HERE! I went there while my boyfriend got his hair cut and a hot shave. The fade on his neck and sideburns was uneven. The hot shave he received was SO BAD that he bled ALL OVER. They went in on his face with no preparation and basically a dry razor. To make matters even more worse they started to sprayed him down with alcohol to try and stop the blood (PAINFUL!) then got shaving cream all over his shirt [the little bit they did use]. He spent almost an hour icing his face when we got home. The Barber who cut his hair was in a huge rush and highly unprofessional "had to meet his girlfriend at the mall" as he stated he also took a lengthy phone call half way through the hot shave while my boyfriend continued to bleed all over. After we got home and properly asses the damage we were both mortified. IT WAS SO BAD I HAD TO TAKE PICTURES as if he had been assulted. Some areas of his face still had patches of hair. It looked like he had been punched in the face. My boyfriend went back to the shop to try and get his money back (still bloody and brused) THEY REFUSED, he had to continue to state the OBVIOUS until they then gave him back ONLY $5 then eventually $10 more (not even close the full $25 +tip he has paid)----WTF, just insanely poor service and the most painful experience---No one should have to go through that. Also the place is FILTHY. There were at least 10 or more clients hair all over the floor and in all the cracks and crevasse of the barber chairs. read more

I went to this shop because my usual barber shop was closed. While waiting I watched other barbers in the shop perform haircuts with questionable technique, which should have been my first concern. The barber who worked on me shaped my mustache thinner on one side than the other and crooked, leading me to need to shave later. He didn't switch out blades between my head and face which gave me tons of cuts and bumps. He also left hair all over my face and I had to clean up the blood from the cuts myself. Additionally the skill required to give me my skin fade was not there. My haircut was merely adequate. He was very friendly and joked, but not a barber I would go back to or recommend. read more

Best haircut I have ever had. Gabriel is a beast. Very friendly. If you are ever in the sunnyside area, I suggest you check this place out.

I've had haircuts from a bunch of different barbers here and they've all been excellent. Wait times are fairly short (despite the shop being quite busy), and at $14 for a haircut the value is incredible. If you're in the neighborhood Nelson's is the clear choice. read more

Super friendly spot. I went in not really knowing hear I wanted, but Gabriel took his time and did a good job. Will definitely be coming back again. A real gem in Sunnyside. Make sure you bring cash as they don't take credit card. read more

This guy cut my hair in 5 minutes. He was clearly in a rush and he missed a lot of spots. Not cool.

nelson and gabriel provide excellent service at amazing prices ($14 a cut!!!!!). they show genuine care for their patrons and about them in general. i highly recommend any dude to come here! they listen to what you want and love having a conversation with you while getting your cut. there are other barbers here (good too i assume) but i would try your first and future cuts with either the father, nelson or the son, gabriel. they are both phenomenal at what they do! read more

Really great barbershop, location/environment. Nelson is an amazing barber - he's extremely knowledgable and can do any style.

Fast, professional, and an awesome cut. I am new to town and was so apprehensive finding a new barber. It's tough when the same person has cut your hair for the past many years. Nelson's was very welcoming and the haircut was great. Gabriel did a great job listening to how I liked it and meeting my expectations. I definitely will return here, this is my new neighborhood spot! read more

Do not go to this place unless you want to be disrespected. Right from the get go the clown show began. Someone told him to give me bad service, without a doubt, but we'll save that for another time. He cut my sideburns crooked and too short, (after I showed him where to cut he ignored my directions, then cut high and crooked) also the back was cut on a slant and the overall haircut is uneven. Even a small rash has started which means he used dirty clippers as well. He also asked if I wanted a razor "to the" neck while he had his straight edge out, did I ask for a shave? The answer is, No, I did not. Then he proceeded to ask if I wanted to see the "back", doesn't a barber normally show the back of your haircut, isn't that normal protocol? Oh, that's right he said he forgot, just to make a point. It's disgusting that in this day and age someone would go along with this kind of bush league tactics and act as a tool for some deranged puppeteer. All I can say is never again and we will be watching. read more

Nelson's Barber Shop - Here's what I wrote on google but they flagged in an attempt to suppress the truth. - Barbers Near Me - Sunnyside, New York

Close to a year later, Nelson's still delivers. The barbers always do an exceptional job with my hair, and on top of that, they are kind, friendly, and considerate. Even when the place is packed, the line is never too bad, and considering the job they do, the prices are incredibly reasonable. Nelson's is my neighborhood barber for a reason, props Nelson and Gabriel! read more

Always friendly. And my boys walk out looking better than ever. Nelson does an awesome job on my kids haircut.
