I heard great things from this office and dr. Yamaguchi when I was expecting my son…read more -the nurses are all sweet hearts -the office is small -if u make an apt in the afternoon the office is an oven not sure if it's cuz they don't have ac but i always have to wear a rank top n sometimes that's not good enough. The reason I'm giving this a low rating is because today....after going many times.... I brought up vaccines. I informed them I wanted to take it slow. One at a time and what is only recommended for school.... after I wanted 50 mins to see him. Here is what I got in return after I said that: -dr. Yamaguchi handled my son roughly and made him cry multiple times ( and he was supper happy n smiley with me on the table) and blamed it on "separation anxiety ", which my son does not have. -was told that I would have to go in every week if I wanted to do one shot at a time ( umm kids don't go to school till their five sooo NO) -told me the flu shot is not required for school but is required for their office ( I'm sorry excuse me???) -didn't even talk about it. Just told me that I live in Petaluma and their are great practices up there and he would be happy to transfer my sons paperwork. If you want no control over what u want for your kid and u want the doctor to decide everything for your kid then this is the place for you. But if u care about your kid and if u have specific needs or if you don't want certain vaccines or u just don't want to follow some made up rule just because or treat your kid roughly Because you as a parent feel one way.....then DONT go here!

The worst pediatric office that ever was…read more Sadly, we were transferred to this office when my children's pediatrician had to retire early for health reasons. I wish i had jumped ship from the get go, but I was lazy and kept going back for years of punishment. Staff is rude and incompetent. They treat parents like the enemy. They also charge extra for everything - flu shot visits, camp forms, immunization records, you name it. And they are not nice at all. I'm very confused why they would choose to work in a pediatrician's office when they don't like people. There is one nice nurse, but that's it. Dr. Ornstein is a horrible pediatrician and an arrogant know it all. Because she is a doctor and a mom herself, she will tell you she knows more than you. She told me on more than one occasion how good of a doctor she is - who does that? She is not a good listener and she is driven by her own personal agenda rather than the child's needs. Every time I went into that office, she overtly checked me out up and down multiple times. This is probably why she isn't listening - she is too distracted by her own insecurities. The amount of confrontational interactions I had with her over the years are too many to count! She refused to give my child a COVID test back when over the counter tests were not yet available. Anytime I made an appointment (other than a well visit), she acted defensive from the get go. She also reneged on taking over a medication prescription from another MD because she "didn't like the way I demanded an appointment with her." Literally, her words. This is because I called on a Monday and politely asked if we could do the appointment after school hours (because I have a high schooler who should not miss school and was already having struggles about going to school) so they gave me an appointment on that Thursday afternoon that I ended up having to pull my child out of school for = compromise? Again, they treat parents like the enemy. Even my children dislike her! Don't take your kids here. Listen to these horrible reviews. They are all true. It's hard enough being a parent and you don't need a bunch of a-holes in your children's doctor's office to make your life harder. We have seen other lovely doctors since leaving this miserable practice and my children can't believe the stark contrast in care!

I would give them 0 stars if Yelp allowed it…read more My 10 year old's doctor retired at the end of 2016 and MPA took over his medical records. Beginning of 2017 my son and I both joined Kaiser. I requested release of medical records from 6 different doctors for myself and my son. MPA were the only ones who charged for the release of records ($35). Not only that, after they billed my card, they called and left a message asking me to pick up the records since they claimed the records tend to get lost at Kaiser. I went to pick up the records and was handed 12 sheets! I paid almost $3 to MPA for their bad photocopying services. Maybe their docs are good - I don't know. However the front-office is scum, and is only interested in making a quick buck at the expense of children and their medical records. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Through Dr. Joffe's advice, which advocates formula and nothing but veg (and eventually fruit and…read moremeat), my baby started weaning off of breastmilk at 5 months, despite my best efforts to continue breastfeeding. When I explained that I was committed to breastfeeding for the first year, Dr. Joffe told me that I would feel better once I stopped because it was affecting my hormones and emotions. I totally agree that babies should get vitamins and minerals from veg, fruit, and meat but when my baby wasn't gaining weight, Dr. Joffe insisted that I keep offering 8oz portions of pureed veg per serving. He seemed unable to address my specific situation, instead holding tightly to his regular plan. He also encouraged 2% cows milk at 11 months. At nearly every visit, instead of addressing my kid's slow growth and small size, he'd lament the obesity crisis in this country and remind me that my kid will break my heart someday. Once we left the practice, I learned that the AAP advises not restricting fat at all for the first two years because it's essential for baby's brain development and such tiny people *can not* become obese. Babies should virtually never get 2% milk. It's now clear that we narrowly avoided a disaster by switching doctors when we did. My kid is slowing getting back on track for growth, but I can't imagine what would have happened if we had stayed with Dr. Joffe. He does have a sleep plan, but it's just that "sleep begets sleep" so you should make your kid sleep. There really isn't more to it than that, other than not feeding your baby at night. Some babies just sleep better than others, and any book will provide much more detailed assistance than Dr. Joffe. One of the best things about the practice is that Dr. Joffe will actually return your phones calls promptly and in person. However, when I got a copy of the file, none of those (many many first time parent) phone calls had been documented, so I feel like the big picture was lost and can't be transferred to the new doctor. The phone calls were never particularly helpful anyway. In our interview, his spiel sounded very soft, supportive, progressive, and holistic. But if you value breastfeeding, are considering cosleeping or ECing, or are even slightly left of old-school western medicine, look for another pediatrician. That first year of bonding and nursing can't ever be replaced and I regret spending any time with Dr. Joffe.

She has cared for both my children for the past 10 years and has continued to treat us with the same VIP service from day ONE. She is kind, repectful, charismatic, supportive and warm. Whenever I call with an issue, either she or Carrie will get back to me immediately. If they are unavailable, the from desk will always connect me with someone else. I'm never left in the dark as the communication and assistance is phenomenal. I can't think of a single time when she or her team has let us down. She also gave us false information, saying POTS (postural orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) which is fainting and/or blacking-out was "normal" - which it is not. It is a side effect of some vaccines. So this doctor clearly lacks the courage to look at all the side effects of each vaccine, and the total impact of having all 72 doses on the CDC's schedule, or to allow calm discussion. It should not be political - just common sense to encourage patients to ask and get good questions answered correctly and honestly.

Sometimes I think people have taken the wrong career choice. Dr Urbach took no time to try to ease my little girls nervousness about going to the doctor and absolutely no time to try to connect with her on any level. Why is this person a pediatrician? We came back on another visit and Dr Urbach was just downright pretentious and unpleasant. Have never been spoken down to like that. There was never any moment that I felt that she cared for the welfare of my little girl. It felt like she just wanted to get the patient out and move to the next one. All three of my kids (now in their 20s) were patients since birth. Dr. Urbach is warm, down to earth, caring & a gifted pediatrician. We never experienced her to be condescending and in fact I greatly appreciated that I always knew that no questions or concern would ever be treated as trivial or not worth her time. We continued to consult her well past typical "pediatric" ages because she is conscientious, reachable and a terrific doctor. All three of my kids have mentioned more than once that they wish they could still just go to Dr. Urbach or find another doctor "like Dr. Urbach". She is that special! I highly recommend her and the overall practice.

My husband and I chose Dr. Sexton to be our children's doctor, mainly because she was calm, smart and had good references...We needed someone who would make us feel at ease with our new baby son and all that that meant, in addition to giving our son excellent care. We got more than we could have ever hoped for in Dr. Sexton. She is calm, willing to listen to hysterical mothers (like I was at times), always willing to think outside the box, makes children part of the their own health care, and a mom herself, so she gets it. Both my kids have had to be hospitalized and she was there every step of the way. In one of my kids adolescence she was willing to listen to my child and make suggestions when I was simply at my whits end with the whole teen angst thing. She always returns phone calls and/or emails with questions that didn't necessarily need to be addressed through an appt. So, all that being said, she is an amazing doctor and woman!
