I was in a minor accident In May and decided to go see a chiropractor. Dr. Gary Nelson came highly recommended. He not only helped with the tightness in my back from my fender bender but also helped me figure out what was going on with my hip. The staff is kind, caring, and compassionate and really care about their patients. I would recommend Dr. Nelson and his staff to anyone. read more

History

Established in 1996.

Dr. Tyler and his brother Dr. Garry Nelson started their first chiropractic center in 1996 on Yadkin Road.

Meet the Business Owner: Tyler N.

Chiropractic Care has been a passion for both Dr. Tyler Nelson and Dr. Garry Nelson, since their early experiences at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. The doctors know the great benefits their profession provides daily. Dr. Palmer established the Chiropractic profession over 100 years ago in this country. Dr. Palmer understood that Chiropractic Care would face unjust prejudice, due to the profession's refusal to depend on prescription medicine to treat conditions. This care would establish treatment with chiropractic adjustments versus traditional medicine techniques.

Upon making the appointment over the phone I was quoted $180 and told if I paid in cash/check I would receive a discount. Once I got to the office, the "discounted" price was still $180. That wasn't a big deal at the time, but I don't understand why a discount was offered if not going to be honored. The $180 quote was to include a consultation, adjustment, and xrays. 15 mins after my appointment time the first receptionist stated it would be a few more minutes until I received xrays- no big deal. Finally 25 mins later I was taken into a room only to be told by the other receptionist that the chiropractor would determine if I needed an X-ray... this made me not only very uncomfortable to possibly be adjusted without an X-ray, but it is extremely unethical to bill someone for a service that may not possibly be provided. Once the receptionist left, I remained waiting for yet another 20 mins and no signs of the chiropractor. It was at that time I decided to walk out and drive another 45 mins home. I had high expectations for this office, but the lack of time management and unethical billing for unprovided service is absolutely unacceptable.

Good luck finding professional service here…read more After searching for 'prenatal massages' in Groupon for my wife, this place showed up. When making the reservation for my pregnant wife (as a surprise, no less), I was told that my purchase did not include a prenatal massage. After some discussion, the owner reluctantly decided to honor the Groupon and give her a massage. After the phone call, I went back to the Groupon site to figure out what I had missed, since I was after all, searching for a prenatal massage. Nothing. It was a completely unnecessary runaround I received for a kind gesture for my wife. Now, I believed that everyone deserves a second chance and that we should give her a try once more. Big mistake. Seven months later, I wanted to treat my wife to another massage. We called and left messages (with a call back number) numerous times over several weeks and received no response. After reaching out to Groupon, contact was miraculously made and we were told that we were the ones not answering. Wondering if our phones may have been causing the problem all along, we went to our phone records-nothing yet again. No calls were ever received from this business, especially at the alleged dates and times. To make matters worse, after calling to set up the appointment, instead of accepting our business and informing us of the unwritten policy, we were denied being able to make an appointment simply because we purchased through Groupon. Absolutely insane. I don't normally write reviews like these, since I understand and have plenty experience in sales and customer service and know firsthand what it is like dealing with ungrateful patrons, yet my wife and I are pretty understanding and educated people and avoid trying to fit into that category. What's worse is a business owner thinking that talking to patrons in a demeaning way is going to grow a customer base. I will conclude with this; I do believe a person gets what they pay for, but in trying to support a local business, I have eaten my own words. Pay the extra money or drive the extra distance to a PROFESSIONAL masseuse in Raleigh or Fayetteville. Find one with more than one good review, which was likely to have been written by a friend or family member. Use our experience to avoid any potential heartache or monetary loss in doing business with A Touch of Tropics.
