I never received the vials, so I called to explain the situation and asked for assistance. To my knowledge, I hadn't confirmed anything, and I certainly didn't receive the vials. It would have been considerate for them to at least question why I never showed up, but instead, their priority was solely on ensuring they got paid.

I moved to Indiana from Michigan in '98 and quickly suffered sinus infection after sinus infection…read more Like, I would be on back to back courses of meds. After a few years, my doctor suggested I might have allergies so I tried to self-medicate. That worked until a disastrous trip to meet my fiance's extended family ended with me suffering an awful sinus headache from being outside so much. A few weeks later, I was off my meds and at Academy for allergy tests. Unfortunately the first round of tests didn't show much. I was disheartened until I found out that, basically, after the age of 25, we have been exposed to so much that the lower dose in the first round of testing doesn't show much. BUT, if I were to have an extreme allergy, a higher dose would have caused an unwelcome reaction. Reluctantly, I pressed on, paying out of pocket because this went towards my deductible. The second round of testing involved approximately 60 shots, applied on both arms. Thankfully the nurses kept me talking about whatever we talked about. They weren't normal shots, per se, but they did sting. Finally, I had results. I have allergic rhinitis, non-allergic rhinitis and allergies to a few types of grass and mold. After changing my meds and adding some nasal sprays didn't bring about the desired results, the nurse practitioner recommended allergy shots. Oh what a difference! I am on maintenance now (and very well could be for a few years) and, although I take claritin twice a day, use my nasal sprays and take another med, I am at least functional. I can be outside with minimal side effects. Yes, I still feel it if I am outside for a prolonged period of time, but it's an annoyance now, not debilitating. If you think you have allergies, I urge you to seek out the services of an allergist. It is a long process but it is so, so worth it to be relived of the suffering I felt for so many years! (And that includes going on a cruise while covered in arm bumps from the testing!)

My review is backed by 30 years of experience as a large medical practice administrator. I want to…read morediscuss what I expected during my initial visit and subsequent visits. On my initial visit, I was greeted by a warm, friendly staff who cared how I felt. Dr. Wang was very professional, friendly, and very approachable. She discussed the initial testing, its limitations, and possible treatments. Unlike others, I know that the first line of allergy therapy is the use of over-the-counter antihistamines, and therefore, I did not expect a prescription. Regarding how the office functions, allergy centers are, for the most part, designed to move many patients through a very specific process in the shortest amount of time. These subsequent injections do not require a formal "patient room," as the patient is only present for less than 2 minutes. After the injection is complete, the patient must sit in the waiting room for self-observation. Although some see this fast-paced environment as a patient mill, it is necessary to reduce patient wait times. I highly recommend Carmel Allergy and Dr. Wang for their professional friendly office environment.

I can agree with two of the three reviews that I read for this business. The initial visit was…read moregood, and Dr.Wang and staff are all very kind, but at times, I do feel rushed and as if we're being run through a high-profit patient mill. We've met in rooms not intended for patient care (such as a lab where patient samples are kept) and while I appreciate the effort to get us in and out quickly, I can't help but to feel as if steps are being skipped and drugs are being pushed rather than researching the root cause of the condition. With that being said, the nurses and office staff have been very flexible with scheduling and helpful in regards to obtaining medications where the patient must be in direct contact with the manufacturer. We appreciate the care received but are a bit disappointed that we still don't know the cause.

I had an MCAS reaction AT the allergist's office...the nurses witnessed the whole thing, and then…read moreDr. Vivian Nanagas proceeded to tell me she doesn't really specialize in MCAS (which isn't what I read on Medifind) and she wanted to start from scratch despite me bringing along ALL of my labs (recent & dating back 8 years) indicating MCAS. She threw them aside and didn't even want to look at them. The amount of frustration, gaslighting, dismissing, and minimizing in the healthcare industry is mind-blowing. To top it off, they had a water leak on a ceiling tile in the bathroom (possible mold?), the nurse reeked of cigarette smoke (which caused my reaction), and when I stepped out to go to the restroom before meeting with Dr. Nanagas (after the nurses witnessed everything) she walked in, looked at my husband and said, "What do you really think is going on here?" (Before even meeting me OR even looking at my labs!!) Yes, my jaw dropped when he told me this later, he was floored. It's frustrating to think this is the "help" I get after waiting months for this appointment. Clearly, we are not a good fit for one another and I won't be referring my health coaching clients to her OR this practice. Honestly, in my opinion, she needs to be fired for that kind of behavior.

On the follow up visit , I attended her visit. I was shocked to see how the audiologist dismissed my daughter's concerns and told her past tests were normal, and they had nothing else to offer. If hearing is not a physical issue with the ear, then there can be another issue. CENTA (the Center for EAR, Nose, Thoart and Allergies) is supposed to be a certified physician, but no doctor ever looked at my daughter's case and dismissed us. When I pushed the issue, the audiologist told us that we needed to see a Neurologist and would send us a referral. They never followed thru. So disappointed in the care or lack of care we received.

They are kind, while also going quickly to get everyone through their shots in a quick matter of time. They have a great system for knowing how far back in line you are after you check in, and to let you know how much longer you have to wait after your shots before you can leave. (You have to wait 30 mins after your shot, to make sure you don't have a bad reaction.) They have a screen with abbreviated names on it to let you know how long you have to wait. It is a great system! I highly recommend this place as far as visits. I don't know on cost if it is comparable to other places, as I don't know the usual costs. I called the office and asked if Dr. L could help with my son's polyester allergy, since it is rare…read moreand often unheard of. They told me "he is the best in the area" and that I would have to see the doctor to ask him that, as they could not advise me. So I take 2 hours off work, and take my son out of school. Dr. walks in and immediately tells me he cannot help me, He only deals with proteins -milk, mites, etc. He says I need a dermatologist and perhaps skin patch tests. He surmises, perhaps, dust mites are the cause of nighttime stuffy nose, and we test for mites; of course the test is negative. I express my frustration as I specifically asked the front desk if he could help with polyester allergies! Not to mention wasted time off work and education. He looks me in the eye and says, "I would file a complaint, if I were you". Taking his advice, I do file a complaint and nothing ultimately happens. Dr. Leickly insists he provided a service. Trust me, you don't want this service. I've called billing and the office manager explaining my story; they refuse to negotiate the unfair bill. Be cautious, as his bedside manner is not overly impressive and clearly the appointment staff is 100% unhelpful. They could have asked," Hey Dr. can you help with polyester allergies?" He could have said: No, I can't". Like the other reviewer, I get a $500 bill.... KEEP LOOKING.
