I needed a logo/watermark for my part-time photography business. I approached Brad with a very general idea of what I wanted -- simple and clean, but modern and relevant. Within a day of contacting Brad, he came up with about 20 mock-ups. After I narrowed it down to a couple I wanted to see explored further, he came up with another 15 or so mock-ups. Though our agreement was to design one logo, he allowed me to have two -- one for general logo usage (website, business card) and one to be used to watermark my photos. Knowing he had 10+ years agency experience working for the likes of Kraft Canada, Sears, and Mercedes-Benz, I thought he would be a little too rich for my blood. Surprisingly, his costs were VERY reasonable, and I felt the service was top notch. I am embarrassed to admit to how much he charged me! It is right at Union station, at the underground level of Brookfield place. This location offers basic paper printing services with variety of paper to choose from. I was pretty excited to have it magically transform into a beautiful piece of art that I could show off to potential employers. Except when I walked in the door, I was greeted by less than friendly staff. I didn't expect to be given a tiara and a glass of champagne, but I think I stood at the counter for 10 minutes before someone helped me. Then the guy who served me kind of gave me the "yah? What do you want" routine and so I coyly suggested I have some of the pages redone and the cover re-bound. I asked if he suggest I do anything else and he said he didn't know. He then swiftly took my stuff away and came back 15 minutes later with my semi-new portfolio in hand. He rang up what I owed him while answering a phone call. He didn't look at me or have the courtesy to call the guy back while he finished serving me. I left feeling deflated that I hadn't asked for more help or been more assertive, but I didn't have the energy. Shouldn't these people WANT to help you? WANT to make something look professional and beautiful that you'd be proud of, and then, presumably, you'd suggest their services to your friends (or potential employers?) I dunno, maybe not all TPH locations are like this, but I'll never go back here again.

My experiences with Sherwood have only been positive ones. Each member of the family that runs this store is very knowledgeable on all avenues of their printing business. They are very helpful when it comes to things like choosing the card stock you want to print on. Also, when it comes to simple photocopies, they have the best price I've been able to find. They blow kinkos and copyrite (the ryerson campus copy centre) out of the water. These guys are highly recommended.
