Most places have the almonds crushed up and mixed into the meringues . There are tons of bakeries all over Girona offering yummy treats... But this was the only place I've seen so far (in my two days) where the huge meringues are dipped in chocolate and have a layer of whole almonds inside the meringue ! DELICIOUS! Literal I could eat nothing but these till we leave! They are so amazing ! The dark chocolate they are dipped in is fantastic too! My husband got the Xuxo pastry (pronounced :shoeshow) another local traditional pastry: a flaky pastry filled with a cinnamon custard! Once again you can find these around but he really liked the ones here too!!! Yummy I m ready to go back again ... But I'll wait till tomorrow

A nice and cozy bakery tucked away from the main stretch in Girona…read more I honestly did not search for this wonderful little establishment, it just showed up while I was wandering around listening to my stomach scream in protest of being hungry. I figured with the amount of locals and tourists inside and the rest of the city still asleep, I had maybe stumbled upon somewhat of a gem. It is basically your standard bakery, small, quaint staff, delicious scents hitting you as soon as you walk in, and some delectable coffee. As far as pricing, I'd peg it at the middle of the road, so do not expect to fork over too much. My eyes focused in on one thing when I arrived, that being their delectable paninis that are ready to go, which is what I needed at that time. Quick warm up of the panini and I was out the door. Not going to say it was the best I had ever had, but in a pinch it was well worth it and on a side note the coffee was not to bad either! Would I give it another go if I was in the city again, well without a doubt!

These are documented the "Best Croissant of Spain in 2012", but I reckon they should still have the title. They have their standard chocolate, dark chocolate, plain (...ahem, BUTTER), plus a "croissant of the month" - today's was coffee passion fruit; plus they have savory croissants. This place is nuts. So delicious. Heads up though, they have bizarre hours.
